Bit confused on what you wrote, your options are a Custom 158 or a 162, or the wide version in 157 and 162? I'm guessing that with the shrinkage tech on your boots, you can get away with the 162, based on your weight / height. FYI, I'm pretty small size, weight in the 130s and I ride a 161, but it was an unusual choice.

I guess if I consider UT/CO an option, then Europe is also within reach, right? I was just doing a quick calculation in my head, and if you fly into Geneva (not sure if you can do that nonstop from EWR), then it's something like 45 minutes to Chamonix. Fly into Munich, and it's 2 hours to Innsbruck. Fly into Zurich, and it's 2 hours to Grindelwald or the Arlberg. Too bad about the exchange rate, though.

I've been going barefoot in my boots since forever, but I'm really really trying to break that habit. It's of course one less thing to pack, but it's just not too good for the boots, and not too pleasant for fellow passengers!

Really- no problem with cold feet or smelly boots?

Good to know- I haven't really seen them much on the slopes. I had a look at the website and surfed the Web a bit, and the boots seem decidedly low-tech, actually, at least in comparison to the stuff made by 32 and Burton. I'm guessing that they've probably got a fairly visible market in places like SoCal.

I'm probably not going to take them terribly seriously until as you say, three years or so of making boots. But then again, I haven't really heard of complaints, but not exactly much praise, either.

Not sure if this really belongs here, but there's more traffic on this part of the forums. . . What's your preference on ski/snowboard socks? I have heard people recommending against thick ones and cotton. I've also heard of people just using pantyhose, or even going barefoot like hockey players, which do you prefer?

Anybody tried these or use them? Given that it's their second season, and that they have a pretty bangin' team, how's the quality of their boots? Nike definitely has the fashion part down, but how about everything else?

Right- EWR is pretty clogged up, so I guess you're right. I'm probably looking at a 7-8 hour turnaround going west from EWR. I'll take a closer look at the VT resorts. Thanks for the info.

Dirty Jersey, which puts me hopefully within 30 minutes of EWR or something like that. I tend to get a bit ill when I'm up in Summit Co., but SLC is just a bit further and the resorts are a bit lower in elevation. All things considered, I guess a 4 hour flight + check in + claiming baggage is not significantly more than driving to Vermont from NJ.

I'm wondering if anybody living on the east coast buys passes for the Rockies, since it seems practical given that you make up the cost in a few days or riding. If so, is a regular 'commute' out west reasonable- Newark and Philly airports are nearby, and are hubs, I would guess the flights range from cheap to reasonable in price. . . Any thoughts on this?

Might get transplanted, I'm used to West Coast mountains, what are the closest equivalents in the East Coast?
