Pizza Wedge (2/10)

  1. My self and 3 of my friends are heading up. Should be there between 8 and 9.
  2. I have a pair of solomon equipe SC I picked up for running the SL course. However they refuse to bite on edge in the course where its very hard packed/icy. the base and side bevels are both 1degree. I'm used to my GS skis witch are 1 base and 3 side. I would have thought a SL ski should be like .5 base and 2-3 side. What do you guys suggest I try for my edges to get a bite? Its also possable im not edging hard enough. Also I hear alot of people no longer detune tips and tales. Any one have an opinion on that? Thanks
  3. What it was was very hot! The instructors seem cool. I like the one I got put with. The GS skis were probably a bad idea im going to bring some SL skis next week. I didnt have a chance to ask directly but it dosent sound like joining the program a bit late would be an issue.
  4. If I go ill let you know. I'm not really sure where this place is there talking about meeting up at so I may not go at all.
  5. I'm thinking of giving it a shot. I think tonight is the first night 7-930pm? I understand its 6 tuesday nights long. I'm not really sure where your suposed to meet either. Up by the bar or something. Anyone else going to this?
  6. I've been using salomon crossmax 10's for the past 3-4 years. I have maybe 15days use out of them. In shoes I take a size 12.5 or 13. My crossmax's are 13's. When I first got them they were extremly hard to get into. Now when I first put them on I tighten them all the way and after a few hours they become lose again and cant be adjusted any tighter. I decided I needed a smaller boot so I orderd a pair of the falcon race in size 11.5. Just like befor when they were new I feel like my ankle is going to snap trying to put them on. Once I get them on I can tighten all the straps half way or so and I have about no toe room. My question is how do I decide if this is a good fit or if it will packout/mold/losen up later? Also how is this for a boot? I'm going to be wearing it all day. Mostly on days I plan on doing nastar. I have another pair of more friendly skis for free ride days and ill keep the crossmax's for those.
  7. Ok thats alot of good info and thank you all. So first of all I know technical ability is important thats why I stated that befor speed. I'm fast enough. too fast if truth be told. I'm 25. I'm self tought. I allready ski better then the 1 or 2 friends I have who grew up skiing even though I have skied less in my life then most people do in one season. Being self taught has to be bad. I'm sure I have many many bad habbits and I garontee I look like a crazy ungangly fool shooting down the moutain. My 6'6'' frame dosent help that either. I know the DH has gates I just dont think of them as gates. I like that event not just because of the speed but because I like the large high speed turns that are made in the event. As far as my skill. I love ice. skiing on a sheet of ice has to be the best thing in the world. I can ski all of blue mt. the only local mt ive really been to much. Challenge and razer's edge I have to press forword a bit but if I keep forword I do well enough. I can also ski all of white face except the 2 real steep dropins at the summit. I didnt do those because ive never had done a drop in like that and it was only open the first day I was there when the conditions werent so good. Chunky piles of snow throw me all over the place. My skis I use for screwing around are 187cm dynastar course 66 GS in race stock flavor. they seem very fast but at least at aplace like blue there controllable for my level. As far as camps Mt Hood offers race camps year around apprently. I dont know how good they are or if its right for me. I was considering moving because I feel PA's seasons are so short. I was also hopeing if I got into competitions I'd have a reason to go more since my friends dont go anymore.
  8. Thats excelent. I wish my parents had skiied. Starting at 18 or 19 or whenever I did might have been a bit late
  9. For about 2 decades now I've wanted to become a very good skiier and even compete if I can. So at some point I actually started skiing since no one in my family does. Now my friends dont ski anymore either so I think its time to learn how to ski for real. I'm not even sure where to start looking for info on where to start looking for training. Should I find some sort of ski camp? Should I be looking to move out west to some big moutain? Where does one go to learn to ski correctly and fast? Also if my free skiing is any judge I dont think I'll like gates at all. so the slolam and gs are things I want to stay away from. Reall I just like the downhill but super g might be ok. Is it possable to get lessons, train, whatever and then compete in just those compeitions or are gates a nessisary evil to "work your way up" to the fun stuff? I'm not even sure what info I should be provideing here to get the help I need. so if anyone can point me somewhere. anywhere. That would be great. Thanks all for your help

I'm partial to oakleys so I'd suggest A frames (cheaper then wisdoms but you can get them too) in high intesnity pink. Its a little more clear then the high intensity blue but you need to be a bit more secure about your masculinity to wear them I like them alot. its my only lense day/night.
  11. yeah man. They always ruin all my fun. With all the plowing and what not. I'd much prefer them to leave a good 3 feet on the roads!
  12. Tell you what. I have zero technical sking ability. Im just slightly insane and overly aggressive. Want to give me somoe pointers? you can use those 213's for a while I say slightly because I was tempted to jump right to the rossi 218 or 220some whatever there biggest DH ski is. I thought this would be a good intermediat step
  13. Thank you for the input however I probably wasnt real clear. I have the cross max 10 in boot version not ski version. As far as skis go I have the race stock verision of the dynastar course 66 and a pair of 213cm dynastar DH skis. The later of witch I'll probbaly never flex in my life. thank you though.

I had oakley L frames and liked them just fine. With the lasic this year I bought some Oakley Wisdoms. I ski with a clear lense and there isnt one in the A/wisdom frame so I got the high intensity pink. Its the closest they have to clear. the next closest is high intensity yellow. I like the peripheral vision the wisdoms offer. And they fit my mellon just fine. If your looking at oakley find a ski shop thats good. As I found out from the shop I deal with oakley's website dosent list alll the lenses/frame combos avilable and there customer service dosent know any better either.
  15. I'm curious about the nordica's too. I have cross max 10's now and im lookin for something stiffer I think. I've been hearing alot of good things about the speed machine 14's. Anyone have any feedback and or comparisons on them? ~Chris
