  1. I'd stay clear of Blue Mountain, simply because of the crowds. Jack Frost is probably the best place to take kids so they're not scared/intimidated by the out of control goobers and insane crowds at Blue.

Well hes going on Tuesday. I wouldn't worry about crowds..

  2. I drove to the lower parking lot at around 9:30ish, booted up, and walked to the six pack. The snow at first was firm yet soft. I went down Razors Edge first, and then to Lazy Mile. I concluded that Lazy Mile had the best snow and pretty much lapped it till 1:30.

There was a demo today from Hunterdon Ski Shop(?) based in New Jersey...I tried a pair of fat skis which I didn't like at all, and then a pair of Fischer Motive 80's, length was 175. It was easily one of the best skis I've ever skied on. It's a light ski, but yet it felt really firm under foot. No chatter, easy to get on egde, and just a smooth glider. Definitely looking into purchasing a pair after this season, or the beginning of next season.

All in all, today was near perfect. Great spring like conditions and not an ounce of ice...there were no crowds either today.

    JADIP!

  3. Today as I was riding my bike to school I noticed it has been a lot warmer. This is the time of year when I actually enjoy riding. It sucks trying to push through all the mushy snow but once you get going its always fun to try new things with how soft the snow is. Anyways now that its getting warmer out I don't have to work as much.... I'm stoked to ride this warm weather for the next month or so. I should be getting up the mountain during the end of the weeks now. Stoked to ride a lot again.

Who will be riding Thursday-Saturday this week? I'll be up those mornings this week...

I'll be there both thursday and friday, and probably saturday.

  4. welcome to PASR! can you fill in for SkiMom who hasn't been on here in ages? Thanks.

And I ski Blue Mountain too. But this past month haven't been out at all because of work and school 7 days a week. hopefully after my france trip this week, I'll be able to get out at least 2 days a week.

  5. I arrived in the top lodge of Blue Mountain at around 8:30, went inside to get my fancy schmancy new season pass with that RFID chip inside. I then went back to the nippy outside and got my boots (and swag) on, grab my skis, and proceed to the snow. It was my first day out this season, and to my surprise, I still had my form. The snow was perfect...chalky pow on top of perfect cord. There weren't too many chunks, so that was nice. They blew snow on all the open trails to refresh them making them very enjoyable. From the lift, they were blowing snow in the valley, on Challenge, and I believe Paradise...Apparently they are opening the valley tomorrow. About 2 runs in, I met up with Toast who was at the top of the Main St. chair waiting. We did Main Street a few times, Lazy Mile a few times, and Burma road once. At around 10, we merged with Root on Main Street and met up with him at the bottom of Main Street. We skied a few runs with him, and then Johnny Style showed up...(skied past us, and root realized it was him...) We had a pretty decent weekday PASR crew rolling.

All in all it was JADIP. Perfect snow, sun, cold crisp air, and a pretty empty mountain... :rock

  6. that sounds weird..maybe we can facetime you from the BMDI..does that mean like a videoblog??? I'm kind of scruffy..I wanted to get a haircut today but there was like an hour wait at Style America...

Oh the chick who was all up on my junk the other night touched my hair and asked me if I used Pantene....how did she know..was she spying at me when I was shopping at Wal-Greens perusing the Shampoo aisle..

On topic for tomorrow I think I'm gonna ski vista to midway to lower main street first..yes a black diamond on the first run...then main street top to bottom and then Lazy Mile top to bottom..then check out the features in the come around park..then probably just ski in the woods the rest of the time...it's good to have a plan when you go skiing...

Remember snowsports enthusiasts dress for the mountain and not for the parking lot....wait hold up..snap...that doesn't apply to the upper lot at Blue mountain the true mountain...it has it's own microclimate up there...at over 1,000 feet above sea level..having an oxygen tank on hand isn't a bad idea..better be safe than sorry..you know only certain types of planes can fly over the Blue mountain..it's so high that smaller Jets would spontaneously combust if trying to ascend the peak...

I know what song is gonna be playing through my head tomorrow at Blue....I'm Walking on Sunshine...it's true..Blue is so high you're above the sun...thinking about that for a minute... :wiggle

wow...you weren't kidding about that medical grade shit!

    :rofl :rofl

  7. Thank you so much for that great guide! Just a quick thing I might add that I found out while adjusting my bindings: if the binding won't go long enough for your boot you have to turn the increment screw on the back (the one mentioned in step thirteen) and that will lengthen the whole system. I got scared at first because my boots are size 13 (US) so thats about 400 mm and the bindings were nowhere near long enough.

    Anyway, thanks!
