  1. Maybe easier intermediate would be a better way to describe it.  Basically some easier features at the bottom of BB so when you connect in from Cascade there are some features for not as advanced riders to hit.  Replace a rail or two with a box or something.

  2. Could have really used some dye on the lips of features yesterday morning, light was flat as hell.

Setup is pretty fun but would have liked to see some more intermediate features on BB until Cascade has a full build out...especially at the bottom of BB.

  3. If even two flakes fall out of the sky I avoid rt. 100 at ALL costs.  Thank god now that I live over in Birdsboro i just take backroads off the top of the mountain toward reading.

Glad to hear ya made it out.  Any criticism on the park? I haven't been up since saturday.

Park setup is fun.  You know of any plans to do a build on Cascade?

  4. Lemme try and remember.

cannon up top on a very slight upslope, round bar and round bar with a slight drop down from the end of the first to the second, 12ish foot small table top type jump.  propane tank lookin thinger but not the propane tank, you know which one I'm talking about. flat box, three small corrugated in a mellow z formation, three round rails in a mellow z formation.  steep up to down flat bar, c box. theres a few more, maybe a regular down rail or something, my mind is blanking sorry I worked like 14 hours yesterday between bear and my regular job.

Kids had a blast, some even said it was the best opening setup we've had in years, especially considering the lack of snow.

Big props to the crew that did the build yesterday morning, I can't believe they got that many features in that fast.

Definitely one of the best opening setups in recent years.

  5. Burton71 did you ever write a Whistler report??

    Nope, been super busy.

Basically, top 1/3 of the mountain was awesome.  Couple inches of reloaded blower pow most mornings and we got 2 days with some fresh snow.  Pretty much bluebird ever other day.

Mid mountain was all about groomers and park.  Park was on point and I hit some of the biggest jumps I've hit in years.  Saw a bunch of pro riders lapping Blackcomb which was awesome.

Bottom 1/3 had the least amount of snow I have ever seen there so we avoided that except for end of the day runs.  Blackcomb only had 1 trail running into the village which was crazy.

Not the best trip out there I've been on from a snow standpoint but it was a hell of a good time with what was there and the lack of crowds.

  6. It ain't the weather go to NOAA and look at the forecast, lows in the 20's high's in the 40's.

Simply put nobody goes except assholes likes us and the resorts take the money and run, they don't care about skiing, they aren't skiers they are a business.

Yup.  Like I said last season I was riding during the snowmobile races and there were maybe 10 other people riding / skiing that weekend.

We had enough 50-60 degree days for people to think the season is over and stop showing up.

  7. I thought they werE closed day of the races then open up the next day? I could be wrong though. They were open afterwards I know that much Because they had the late season park on timberline

I was there riding the day of the races.  It was actually pretty fun because the slopes were empty.  Pretty much lapped the Timberline park all day with just a couple other people.  Snow was good as well.

  8. Hit up Montage for the weekend to use some free tickets, meet up with some buddies from college before and get some longer runs in before heading off to Whistler next weekend .   Little bit of light pow on Sat on top of nice firm but carvable snow.  Park rode great and is definitely improved from the last time I was there.  Wasn't overly crowded but there was a good amount of people there.  Cool little bar setup outside as well.

Sunday was even better after the snow.  The north face was left ungroomed and there were fresh tracks for the better part of the morning and some nice little tree stashes to be had.  Again, crowds were manageable and never really had more than a 2 minute wait for any lift ride.Overall a great time.  Definitely going to be going back more often, I forgot how fun it is to ride there.

  9. Quick, fun session last night.  Snow was good a bit hard in spots but with the temps that is expected.  Crowds weren't bad at all on the mountain...the Grille was packed.  Park setup is still great.  Jumps on BB are probably the best BC has had in a few years and some of the best I've hit in PA all season.

  10. Yesterday was surprisingly good despite the cold and the wind.  It was empty until about noon.  Snow was fantastic.  Jump line is Cascade is much, much better now.  Rails were a bit sticky because of the cold but got better as the day went on.  Wind pretty much ruled out the 2nd and 3rd jumps in Black Bear...they were do able but it was gusting pretty hard right up the landings.  Boarder cross berms on the tubing line was a ton of fun.  Great use of that space.  Park crew has really stepped it up this year.
