  1. Let's be honest. How can it possibly be an A+ day with lines that long? Did you come there to ski or enjoy company of this mask-less boarder? Do you own Montage shares? Come on! Lines at Blue were less than this.

Yes, it can depending on your point of view. Also, I was more than 6 ft away from that dude, I had my mask on, and oh yeah we were outside on a sunny day. So no, that maskless boarder didn’t ruin my day. I choose not to live in fear.

  2. Got a late start today, rolled up the hill just after 9 and the line of cars stretched from the main gate down to the pavilion lot. I was shocked to say the least. Apparently sun shine and recent snow fall get ppl out to the mtns. I had a feeling this wasn’t gonna be the last line I would be in today. Fortunately they had 4 ppl ckg temps to keep the cars moving.

Parked and got booted up and made my way over to the iron horse lift for a warmup lap. Mtn has great coverage and the trees are fully loaded with the goods. Did a TTB tree run following the trees along upper fast track, then ducking into the trees btwn lower fast track and lower run away. The cold temps have maintained the snow very nicely.

Once at the bottom I decided to check out WL trees. Wow, just wow. I thought I was in VT for a hot minute, lol. Def hit that area up a couple of times.

Line at Phoebe lift. Lines were getting long from both sides. Before the side at the bottom of boomer and WL were shorter, but I think them grooming both trails flat allowed more ppl down those trails. SMH. Oh, also Long Haul lift broke down again today, so that contributed to this line.

All in all another A+ day. Loved the sun, could have done without the crowds, but I get that’s good for the mtn to make money. Conditions should be excellent again next weekend with the forecasted storms coming this week.

Demos are almost always during the week I guess due to less crowds...like Toast was saying you should demo differerent skis from Blues ski shop. It’s $60 and I think you can demo three different pairs and you can apply the $60 towards the purchase price. Demo days are always free.

^^ this is the way to do it. other mtns have demo fleets to try out. wider selection of skis and what not. also, don't have to deal with the crazy lines and you're pretty much assured to be able to try what you want. a lot of times on busy demo days you'll have to wait for the ski you want to try.

  4. Today felt like a true winter’s day skiing

with the freshies coming down. Montage is in fine shape thanks to last week’s nor’easter. About 1”-3” fell while we were here, just enough to make the surfaces feel nice.

Upper mtn looking nice in white!

We took a few runs down the NASTAR course. Here’s tinymoose waiting in line to smash the gates.

Looks inviting, but there was a crust of melted/refrozen snow just beneath the surface.

Nice view from Lower Fast Track.

Best snow was on White Lightning. Nice slarvy turns were just what the doctor ordered.

Nice outdoor food setup at mid mtn. Those tents are for rent, $199 a day. SMH.

Cloudspin was closed, I didnt see a sign for Cloudspin Cut.

My final top to bottom run was epic. Upper Skyward in the clouds, moguls on Niagra and Victoria, then Off Broadway for moar moguls, then Boreen and thru Bobcat Glades as a nice finish. Epic rad gnarly day!

if i remember correctly, cloudspin isn't open that often. not sure if there is snowmaking on that trail or not.

@eaf I have a grate idea. designate chairlifts as restaurants, then you can sit close by other people without masks! Restaurants create invisible barriers did ja know? Just dont sit in one place for 31 minutes or you might cost everyone their season

such a nice virus....it doesn't really attack us in restaurants, lol. <sarcasm alert>

  7. Oh you’re an inside booter upper?  How have crowds been at Montage this season?

Yeah....my feet get cold really quick (which is why I have boot heaters) so booting up indoors is preferable.

The only day we had serious crowds was MLK. The phoebe lift had a Vail-sized line that required the safety patrol to direct traffic all day long.

  8. Do you use a filter?  I have a sleeve for filter in my mask as well.  I don’t have any fogging issues with my mask up while skiing but if I get particularly warm on a run I like pulling my goggles up at least for the liftline or first part of chairlift ride.  I’ve been using medium light purple goggles everyday this season and they’ve been grate. Probably too dark for night skiing.

Yeah, tinymooose insisted we use the filters. They barely stay put....they like to migrate out of the mask....kinda look like a gaper.

Ive been using the adidas mask and they seem very breathable, I think I like the breathabilty and fit a bit more than the 'ski the east '. only complaint  is the ear straps arent adjustable and seem a littlel tight

we have been using the buff face masks. they have a sleeve for removable filters. fit is OK, but my googles fog up when i have the mask on, so i pull it down while skiing then put it back up at the lift line.
