stevewww Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I have made 3 boxes in the past and have usedplexiglass to coat the top, but this will not work with the C-box I just built. Does anyone have any ideas on what and/or how to surface a C-box. I was thinkin like lots of thin flexible pipe but let me know what you guys think.
romemadman Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 might be a pain in the ass or not work but cut the plexiglass into smaller strips for it
stevewww Posted January 11, 2007 Author Report Posted January 11, 2007 might be a pain in the ass or not work but cut the plexiglass into smaller strips for it like longways..... or what?
xNick11 Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Cant you like bend it? Im sure theirs a way...maybe if you heat it up?
Tyler Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 i really dont know how to surface a c box, maybe someone on here can help you, maybe parkbuilder, or BC iron works, or joe g
pyro_boarder Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I have seen a few home made c-boxes on here so someone should be able to help. I think you would cut a section of the plexiglas to fit the curve, and work in smaller sections. I'm sure some on who has done it can shed more light though.
swdorsey Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 u just cot th eplexi with the curve of teh box, you dont need to bend anything. unfornutaly you waste alot of plexi when u do this from cutting out the curves
Stevo Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Just cut one piece to fit the curve. The cut you make in the plexi will turn into the oustide curve for the next 4 foot section, assuming you don't have an elliptical tranny. Cut the next inside curve, then use that as the outside curve for the next piece. Shouldn't waste too much lemme try l ) ) )
parkbuilder Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 here was my cbox last year, cut the plexi in sheets to the shape of the c as close as possible, then after cutting a few sheets into the "c" shape install them as multipule panels. an easy way is to lay the plexi over the box and using a marker, outline the width and curve of the box, then repeat the process step by step, install and shred!
