    The current Picture on Elk's Website, absolutely inviting isnt it!  Everyone else in Pennsylvania is seeing bright sun! This is another reason why the passes is so expensive!

    So does today get counted in the 100 day limit?

     

    Doesn't seem like it should. Nobody here to enjoy it. Does have to pay the staff that doesn't get called in,

    Just money in his pocket.

     

    Pretty clear from the website now that they are open.

     

    May I SMH.

    I checked the website this morning, the conditions report is absolutely worthless.  You can't even tell whether thay are open or not!

     

    The only thing that suggests they are open is that the webcam shows a pair of ski and poles in the view.

     

    They should put a webcam on the Meat Wagon, oh the fun that would be!

    It is not a season pass, it is a 100 day pass. 

     

    Once a used car salesman told me you can sell people nothing and have them thank you for everything.  Wonder how Elk Mountain learned that lessson, hummm... oh ya, thats makes sense.

    Elk Mountain Ski Resort – The closest thing to Vermont That’s a lot of NOPE!!  Wouldn't want to risk being open more than 100 days.

    Barb, obviously fitness and strength are a big part of it as the guys say. Sitting back and being tense about the run you are on being over your ability can do it for sure. Everything said here is the truth--though I'm not so sure of the fast line/slow line theory!

     

    One thing to consider though is that you may need an evaluation of your stance on the snow. This is especially important with the new shaped skis. If you don't have a flat ski on the snow when in the relaxed position the ski will naturally try to turn on its own. If you are bow legged or knock kneed you must use your quads ALL THE TIME to keep the ski flat on the snow just to go in a straight line. The muscles never get to relax and recover. A competent boot fitter can do this and help set you up properly. I'm sure there are plenty in the Denver/summit county/winter park area. Getting the skis tuned to the proper bevel angle for the ski to adjust the bite angle of the edges might help too.

    All opening before Elk

     

    Hmmmm, must be the cost of tickets and passes that make it the skiers choice.

  13. EPR IS PURCHASER OF CAMELBACK

    EPR Properties announced that it is the entity that purchased Camelback Mountain Resort in Tannersville, Pa. for close to $70 million. The resort consissts of 160 acres of skiable terrain and includes a waterpark, an outdoor adventure park, a 40-lane tubing facility and base lodge. The resort hosts 900,000 visitors annually.

    The property is currently leased to CBH2O who has operated the resort since 2005 and has committed to an additional 20-year term. Ken Ellis and Art Berry, principals of CBH2O, will continue to reinvest and develop additional attractions.

    "I am very pleased to announce this expansion of our recreation portfolio with Camelback Mountain Resort," said David Brain, president and CEO of EPR. "Camelback has been a very popular and successful recreaation property for over 50 years and importantly, offers year-round attractions and sustainable year-round cash flows."
