I presume it will be a repeat of "gift card" day last year. I promise I wont complain (a lot) or ask for a gift card. If the line is 45 minutes again I'm bugging out. So I'll be sure to get there bright and early. Maybe they figured out how to load the lifts to full capacity this time!!!

    What was gift card day?

100% this. Stupid, cheesy, unprofessional? Yes. I expect more from Blue. A lawsuit? That's fucking silly IMO. Maybe if the picture contained the JH tram and said come to Blue and ride our tram. That would be false advertising

Jack Frost should photo shop 'Jackson Frost' on the tram and use that!

The damages in a false advertising case are suffered by competitors. Camelback would argue they lost X million skier visits because folks thought that is what Blue looked like.

    Yeah, that could be true...

Obviously, never gonna happen.  But fair point.

That is not a defense to a false advertising claim. I hope they get sued.

You have to show damages to sue.  So you went to blue and bought a lift ticket and were shocked to realize there were no trails that looked like that on the mountain....you are out the cost of the ticket and some gas money....

    I don't think that's much of a law suit.

But I do agree, it's lame for Blue to use stock photos on their website. Particularly since they do a pretty good job on social media - they have plenty of photos they could use that are cool, and inviting, and OF BLUE.  Adds so much to the imagery to have it actually be on the mountain...

Blue always has pictures from other mountains on their website.  It’s called perception...

Yeah, it's giving prospective customers the 'perception' that Blue is in the shadows of 14K' peaks....

    I don't know - I think it's cheesy and deceptive.

Not for anything but it is stupid as shit. It's like someone from the marketing department googled "skiing" and copied / pasted a random photo of people smiling on some random slopes and posted it not realizing the above treeline peaks behind the random people. I didn't want to feed the troll but it is bad form on Blues part. That's said I don't know if I'd call that false advertising either. Most ski areas are more egregious when it comes to false advertising with their base measurements or snowfall totals.

Yeah, I agree.  And I feel like they do a pretty good job on social media - I'm sure they have some good photos of their mountain they could have used.

Or at least, they should have cropped those mountains out, and the dense forests on the side of th trail...

No one knows who Invisible Char is. Seems like someone unhappy with Blue's opening and is just venting. People are accusing me of being him which is not true. If I would troll I would do something like Rajeev instead because reading that was hilarious

But is anyone disputing that Blue has a picture on their website from god only knows where?

  8. Just so I'm clear as to what is going on....Blue has a picture on their website that is pretty clearly not from their mountain, yes?  And this In. Charc. member called them out on it.  And now we suspect that guy is a troll account?

I don't know....seems like a pretty lame thing to do to me....where do you think that pic is from?

Barney's was quite skiable right from the get-go.  Surprised they set them, but pretty easy for bumping the trail count.
A bit chunky from the cat tracks, but they broke down quick and with the warming temps, they skied in nicely.

Hopefully the rain doesn't take the troughs down to the dirt.

Agreed.  My daughter and I had fun on Barney's.  Top section was really nice by the end of the day.  (And our day ended at around 12:30.)  Great first day for us.

If no Main Street I may ski BB Friday if they have Love Park open. Is it sacrilege to think that? Come around is cool but im not feeling opening day crowds on the limited terrain that they plan on having open. Still happy that they are opening none the less.

    catskills....

According to blue mountains Facebook.  Easy out vista and come around 830am opening on Friday and $39 lift tickets.  With the cold coming they could have their normal opening.

Friday looks cold...maybe that = main street saturday....we'll see!

Good for them for getting open.

But I am anxious to check out the new Belleayre Gondi - didn't go once last year - so if they get a few more trails open up there, maybe we'll do that.
