  1. Thanks for all the help and I finally got boots. I picked up a pair of Celsius Cirrus today at Langhorne Ski Shop . They were leftovers from last season and were on sale for around 100 $ . I tried them on and they fit perfect and felt good on my feet. They are rated 7/10 as far as stiffness goes on the Celsius website and think they will be a good all around boot.
  2. Thanks for the reply, I guess its between Blue and CB then. I guess I will probably head to Blue but only if Lazy is open, if not I will probably head somewhere else.
  3. Where do you guys think is the best place to head this weekend in PA? A couple of us are probably heading out Saturday and Sunday morning. I have an offpeak to BC so mornings there are a no go and not sure if they will be open anyway. We are looking for somewhere with minimal crowds with a okay amount of terrain open, if this is even possible. I would normally just go to Blue but think it might be packed there even for a morning session. Although they might get more trails open by the weekend. It looks like Camelback will have a decent amount of terrain open. What do you think, Sno ,Elk CB , Blue , Boulder or maybe even Shawnee. We don't really care just don't want to be standing in line all day or dealing with chaos on the hill. Thanks for any help as I am really up in the air on this one.
  4. Sounds good, thanks for keeping us updated.
  5. I just read a bunch of bad reviews on DC boots , looks like they are off the list.
  6. The more I think I about it the more I am leaning towards a softer boot than the T1. I want something just a little stiffer than the lashed . I do have a season pass to Bear Creek which means I am going to be in the park a lot. 90% of my riding is going to be at BC and Blue with the rest spread out between other mountains in PA , VT ,NY and my trip out west. From what Method was saying I think the K2 T1 is probably too stiff for the type riding I will be doing. My riding is probably split 50/50 park/freeride . I am going to revisit some shops and try on other boots this weekend and next week. I have been looking into some DC boots as well, the Judge and the Super Park, both seem like middle of the line stiffness I am looking for. I need to find some shops that carry them so I can try them on too.
  7. Lots of mixed reviews in this one. I would love to try out the K2 T1 DB but still have not found a shop that carries them. They are an expensive boot with not much of a market around here. 80-90% of people that ride around here are kids that want soft park boots. I think the Ski Bum has the regular K2 T1 , I could see how they fit and what size I am and order the T1 Db's online. I am kind of woriied abput them being too stiff after what Method was saying. I am still going to checkout some of the Celsius boots. Anyone been in a pair of them?
  8. I didn't think they felt that stiff in the shop. Probably because I wasn't use to Burtons lacing system and didn't have them as tight as normal. I am going to try them on again when I go pick up my boards from getting tuned. Like Method said I thought a lot of people use them as an all around boot.
  9. Thanks for the reply, didn't realize they were that stiff. I thought they were more middle of the line. I want something to do everything in so I might just stick with the Ions since they fit my feet good and seem to be around the right stiffness I am looking for. I might take a ride up to Langhorne and check out the Celsius boots they have to see how they feel, but I heard they are on the soft side.
  10. I am looking at the K2 T1 DB , Ride Crew Focus and the Burton Ion. Anyone riding any of these ? If so please give me some feedback? I originally set out to find the K2 and the Rides but can't find them anywhere. Anyone seen these in a shop ? I want/need to try them on but can't find anywhere that carries them. I called most places that they list as dealers on the websites and got nowhere. On my journey I came across some Burton Ions that were leftovers from 2007 that were new and cheap and seemed pretty comfy, most reviews on them are positive. If I can't find the K2 or Rides to try on than I think I am just going to grab them. I am looking for a solid all mountain boot with a medium stiffness. I have been riding 32 lashed but they are too soft for my liking. If anyone else has any other options let me know, thanks.

    Nitro Boards?

Sounds like a good deal. I am in the market for a powder board as well and have been looking around but never stumbled upon this. I have been looking at the Never Summer Summit, StepChild OG Powder and a few others. I have been leaning towards the Stepchild in a 164 because I am not sure how the Summit will handle on groomers and such. I want something slightly tapered to give me more float but not wash out on the rest of the hill. The Pantera looks interesting but don't worry I am not going to steal your board off of eBay I would need something bigger like a 162-165 and am probably not grabbing one till before I head west. I would grab it sounds perfect for what you need.

    SLC

Utah is great , you will like it a lot. I second checking out other resorts besides Snowbird, its fun but I had a better time at Brighton and Snowbasin. Brighton was my favorite, lift tickets are cheap and lots of great riding. I am probably going back this year and want to hit Brighton, Powder Mountain and Snowbasin. Stay in SLC and rent a car like everyone else said.
  13. Union Forces are another good option. I use to love Ride bindings , not so much now a days.
  14. I remember them coming to Elk a while ago , not sure if they still do. They have a list of Demo days on their website, closest I see to here is Hunter as of right now. The Gspot on Business Route 1 use to sell NS boards . not sure if they do any more. If you want a board that will last and support yoour weight on a shorter board, I would definitely look at NS. Out of their lineup I would think the Premier suits you the best, good luck.
  15. I actually think they are going to be making production split boards soon. I read it somewhere, they are in high demand so they are going to make it part of their lineup. I need a powder board for when I go out west and think I am going to get a Never Summer Summit, that should be my next board purchase. The Evo is a legit board, I sold mine because it was a little stiff for the park , it is more of an all mountain board, you can definitely take it anywhere. Never Summer as a whole is a great company, I want to try their new rocker and side cut.
  16. I know but I found my Evo for around 300$ and if you look there are deals. Here is one NS Premier . Its last years Premier for around 379$ , shipped free. I ordered form that site before and never had a problem. That board and that size would be perfect for him. I know Never Summers are tough to come by, especially deals on leftovers but I think he would be very happy with one.
  17. Ya the new ones are not cheap but you can find some leftovers online for cheap but not sure if he wants to that. I just thought it would be the best board for his scenario.
  18. You should checkout Never Summer snowboards, I think they are perfect for what you are looking for. They don't list weight ranges on their website : Never Summer , but their boards are built to last and are stiffer and stronger than most boards on the market in comparable sizes. From their lineup I would checkout the Titan , Premier and Heritage. You would get away with riding these boards shorter and all Never Summer boards come with a three year warranty.
  19. How do you like magne traction ? I have heard different things , some say it is too catchy and some say its the greatest thing ever. With all the different gear coming out I wish we had more demo days around here. I want to get on a rockered board and try out magne traction. The ideas seem right but I wouldn't buy them without testing them out. Never Summers new rocker seems cool too, different from the others out there. Also Bataleon has some triple base tech thats suppose to be different. So many options out there now with so much different tech.
  20. So far just a K2 Darkstar which should be arriving today. I will be getting some Union Contacts shortly and have to go try on some new boots.
  21. The DVD doesn't come out till later this month but they have it up on ITunes now for 7.99$. I just watched it and really liked it. Lots of great scenery and riding, Travis kills it as usual. Anyone else see this yet ? If you haven't than grab it form ITunes or get it when the DVD comes out, I don't think you will be disappointed.
  22. For as much as you are going to pay for that board new you could get decent board and bindings leftover from last year that will probably suit you better. I am pretty sure Buckmans is having their tent sale this week, I would go up there and check some boards out. I just got my friend a leftover K2 Believer for 259$ which I think would be a good board for you . He got the board here : Surftheearthsnowboards.com , they don't have the Believer in a size that would suit you but they have a Lib Tech TRS for 269$ and an Atomic Alibi for 279$ both would be good for you. They have a bunch of other boards form Nitro and Ride too that are on sale. I would look around in stores or on the web and find a good deal. Also I think the GSpot on business route 1 has a separate store they sell leftover equipment in so I would check that out. Grab some Union Force bindings and you are set.

    Vail TR

I was actually surprised how fast it got tracked out. I am sure if I knew my way around better I would of had better luck. We had a weekday powder day and it was more crowded than on the weekends. Don't get me wrong I had my fair share of fresh tracks and had a great time, just planning where to go and what to hit with a mountain that big was difficult to say the least. Definitely some great terrain and the back bowls are huge.

    Jay Peak

I heard Jay gets real cold but for great snow I will freeze. Stowe is definitely on my short list as well, I want to try to make it there there this year. Jay is more of a long shot but a possibility. Stowe and Mount Snow are two that I definitely want to hit up this year.
