  1. They probably figured anything new they blew would get lost to the rain coming. Should see them start again Tuesday evening.
  2. The graph below shows Camelback's Min/Max Temps for the next two weeks. Snowmaking should start again Tuesday evening. Note that 24 hour snowmaking should be possible for a period this coming weekend. And the only rain event in the forecast is for tomorrow night into Tuesday morning. If they wanted to, Camelback could be open for Thanksgiving. Certainly by Saturday. Note: Temps are Mount Pocono temps, which correlate very well to temps on the mountain.
  3. Two ski racing-specific books that are worth reading are How the Racers Ski and The Athletic Skier by Warren Witherell. Both are somewhat dated now, but still good reading. Ron LeMaster's photos are first class, but I would prefer video over still montages any day. There is too much "I wouldn't have seen it if I hadn't believed it" interpretation that goes on when people discuss photos of ski racers. Disclaimer: I am not a racer, coach or instructor. Just a ski nut who enjoys following racers and racing technique. The above is just an opinion I have formed. Tim

    Elk Opening

Finndog, Others on here can tell you their past opening day record better than I, but it seems like they don't open much before the other nearby PA mountains. They can't make snow as fast as the other mountains, but the weather gives them more time to lay down a base. However, if this keeps up, it could be an early year! Picture is from Elk's website, October 25, 2005. Tim
  5. Dude, Belleayre says they are targeting an opening sometime between the 5th and 12th of November. Tim
  6. Cool stuff here. Note, you'll need a high speed internet connection. Downhill Racer Enjoy. Tim

    Finally made it

I skied there this morning. Fantastic conditions. I wasn't first one up the mountain, but I was first one to make tracks down Kickapoo. Only turned where I had to

    Elk or Hunter

I'm also planing to be at Elk on Thursday. Look for a red jacket, black Giro Nine helmet and a guy skiing on a pair of Head i. C160's. That'd be me. Tim
  9. Thanks all. I was asking for my brother and Nestor's was my first suggestion to him, but he wanted to go other direction. Skidude, thanks for tipping me off to Brad at the Loft. I gave him a call. Tim
  10. Hi all. Can anyone recommend shops in northeastern PA that have a good bootfitter on staff? Area I am looking in would be Tannersville and north (Scranton area). I have seen some good comments here regarding the Loft, but have never done business with them. Any other sugestions? Thanks in advance. Tim
