I headed to Shawnee today and did about three hours riding with the wife. After that she had to head back home to take care of some things so I decided to try out Camelback. Now I understand what you guys mean about it being icy. The difference was night and day between the snow and Shawnee and Camelback. For the entire time at Shawnee i was nailing my toe turns and getting daring and even hitting jumps. There was a decent amount of snow to play on. When I got to Camelback i did some turns but stayed in leaf much of the time. It was so damn icy I just didnt feel confident with my newly found turning skills. So far I have done Shawnee 4 times, Boulder 4 times and Camelback once. By far, the worst conditions were at Camelback. It really was like night and day.

The Union Data's I just got are sweet. Super responsive and top quality everything.

I live on the NJ/PA border. In NJ (at my house) we got about 3 inches of snow and 1 inch of crap. When I hit Shawnee yesterday morning at about 11 they got about 4 inches and fluffy powdery snow. My wife went last night and it may have been another 1inch of wetter snow.

Correction. I do see the Rossignol kids board. But its too short

Haven't ridden them yet. They should be here Monday. I found them on the net and used ground shipping. It was dumb luck that I found them. I did a froogle search and screwed up when sorting by price. Then there they were. Last years model, in my size and the only ones left. Froogle has been my friend quite a bit though. I found my Ride Control on it for like $160, and my wifes arbor stance for $97.00 (although that was really dumb luck) we see it on the same site now for 130+. It's an 05.

Doesn't spoil it. I dont see any snowboards (crappy or not) on that site for $65.00 and my wife wanted Mitt's that weren't in black.Like I said, I wasn't really that impressed with the sale this year. Maybe the trick is to go the last day. Although, I would think the selection would really be limited.

I wasn't impressed this year, but I was able to snag a few things: - Level Fly Gloves - $55.00 - Burton Mitts (for wife) - $30.00 - 5150 Typhoon (Crapper Board for screwing around in my yard) - $65.00 - 4 Pair snowboard socks $40.00 - Spyder Fleece (For wife) $45.00 Not the greatest but not horrible either

Ok stupid question....how often should I sharpen the edges on my board? I'm still learning so I'm doing anything crazy with my board. Just practicing turning and going straight.

According to http://www.onthesnow.com/PA/skireport.html its the 15th. I'm sorry, but that seems pathetic with most mountains in the area opening this weekend.

And I wonder what type of "Cougars" he actually loves?

It was pretty iced over at 7:30 last night. So be careful.

I guess its her revenge for my upcoming trips to Northstar in Jan and Stratton in Feb

OMG...I've created a monster. My wife's first time snowboarding was in Colorado in the middle of this month. I'm stuck oncall for work today so i pretty much cant go anyway, so my wife wakes up this morning and tell me shes going to head out to BB to get some runs. Now its just me and kids at home. Irony is a pita :-)

Cool Mountains with less vert than our Mountains
darklordofsys replied to darklordofsys's topic in General Chat
It is true that they get more snow but its only partly about the snow. More of what makes them successful is an investment in their customers and customer service. Something most mountains out here are only partly committed to. -
It's really sad that Camelback or some other mountains in the area can't get a clue and offer what these guys do. http://www.boyne.com/Winter/Two_Mountains/index.html

I drove past yesterday and it looks like they have been making a little snow on some slopes. So here to hoping. I would love to use my season pass this weekend.

Yesterday was pretty good. Got there about 10 and left at 2:30. I spent the whole time cruising down Little Boulder and practicing my toe turns. Lots of falls but I was able to link quite a few. I guess I can consider that progress since its only my third time snowboarding. All in all lots of fun though
-
Thanks...the kids loved every minute of it hopefully well be hitting jffb or shawnee (if open) next weekend. Right now its just sliding around for them but its a start.

Stratton was pretty crowded and icy today. Especially in the learning area. I did manage to capture my kids first time on a snowboard though. They are 4 and 5.
-
Will be there between 9 and 10. I'll be the one power-leafing down little boulder, cause I still suck. White and Black Sessions jacket, black pants, and red ride control board.

#3 is also signed up. My wife decided to get a pass too. She took her first lesson in Colorado two weeks ago.
