  1. My UPS man told me today he bought the discounted season pass and already went 3 times this season. He told me a few months ago he hasn't gone skiing in years and wanted to get back into it. I told him about this site to try and step up recruiting efforts, maybe he'll join.

Also, add me to the club of not paying credit card companies interest. Never did once on any of my cards. I believe they call people like us "deadbeats" because they make no money off us. Hell, I charge everything I can to just get money back with the rewards.

  2. ive been planning on complaining to blue about this promotion since i first heard about it.  i'll probably wait til fall to email them and ask for the $499 price or whatever it was.

Don't forget to throw out the benchmark $60,000/year salary as the baseline for economically disadvantaged criteria.

  3. lol at me putting an extra $500 on my credit card after colorado.  im considering emailing blue about how this deal discriminates against the economically disadvantaged.  im not fortunate or lucky enough to be able to charge things to my card a year in advance

I was going to post, "I can hear TP4 now when he gets home from Colorado and finds out he missed the discounted price" and then I see this post lol

  4. My close rate is about 65% during normal office hours and about 90% after hours. I've always been an assumptive sales person. I start filling out the contract before the family even says they are gonna buy from us.

To increase your close rate try the infamous car salesman line, "What would it take to get you to buy this tombstone today?" I'm sure that would go over really big buying a sensitive item like a tombstone.

That's funny about filling out the sales paperwork before they commit. I do that all the time when people are out on test drives if I think they are going to buy. Sucks when I'm wrong but that doesn't happen often.

  5. Glad to see the weather cooperate for them and allow them to make some much needed fresh snow.

Speaking of Blue, I was at CE Roth in Allentown today getting fit for a tuxedo for a friends wedding. At the counter they had a Blue Mountain poster and I saw they were selling discount lift tickets. Who in the world would buy discount blue tickets at a tuxedo place lol

  6. not looking good for any PA mountain based on their cams.

and its only 10:45 and the rain / warmth isn't over.

This screenshot from BC's webcam says it all. That's probably management standing there saying, "How the hell are we going to re-open?"

Edit:In odd fashion, this picture seems to update in real time? At the time I posted this, there were about 5 people standing in a huddle.

  7. i seent that 3.  the only thing i can guess is on their FAQ, it says no outside food on weekends and holidays.  weekdays seems to be ok

Yeah, saw you posted this as I posted that from the FAQ page.

Interesting you should ask on their Facebook. I'm sure one of the blue representatives will get back to you in a day or two.

I didn't ask them. Someone else had posted it on their page. Doesn't affect me in any way considering I don't even go there any more.

It's funny I don't care either way...but I love the drama on here and on Facebook.

I agree and it doesn't affect me in any way.

  8. OK, perhaps I found it. Looks like it was posted on the FAQ page of the website.

As a courtesy to paying cafe and bar guests, no outside food & beverages are allowed in the lodges during weekends & holidays.

It is also Blue Mountain Resort's policy not to permit outside appliances, ie crockpots due to potential fire hazards and trips due to cords.

Blue Mountain does however, provide outside picnic areas for guests to enjoy brown bag lunches or tailgating is permitted in the parking lots.

Thank you for your help in enforcing the above policy.

  9. I can understand the issue from both sides.

Blue is a business and they need to make money to survive. The reality is most customers don't understand how much overhead blue has. The insurance, snowmaking, and electric alone are probably sky high. Blue probably figures if they ban all outside food it will help increase sales for food in the lodge. At the same time you have people who are buying lift tickets, lessons, rentals etc that feel they spend enough money to support blue and should be able to eat inside. If you take that away from them, they will get pissed and threaten to go elsewhere.

Then of course you always have the self-centered idiots who have to ruin something for everyone else. The people like others have mentioned that come in and take up tables all day for themselves so that nobody else can sit down, including the people who did choose to pay for the over priced food.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Times have changed. Years ago people had more money to throw around and splurge. Nowadays they just don't. They are just happy they got to the mountain. On the flip side, you have blue who has now gone through two bad winters and is probably trying every which way to make up lost revenue. I'd bet the vast majority of these people who pack a lunch do so to save money. Blue should recognize that because if they piss off enough of these people, it's going to work against them in lost revenue when they go elsewhere.

This reminds me of families going to the beach for a week. Years ago you'd see people rent a condo for a week and go out to eat and do activities most of the week. Nowadays if the family even goes a week, they cook in the condo and only do 1 or 2 activities because of how expensive it's gotten and their income has either dropped or stayed flat.

Simple solution: just make a separate area for people who want to bring in outside food to eat.
