  1. Yes...and? Are you implying that only the 6pack will have a VIP line? I sort of doubt that, but rather, they're just advertising it for the lift that's used the most. The VIP line on the quad was more of a VIP+Raceteam+ski patrol all in one. It was rather nice though, since everyone used the 6pack line :)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, that they're only going to have one.

We too like the quad as people tend to use the 6-pack more.

    Guess time will tell.

  2. When Blue did half the skier visits they did twice daily grooming and now they don't they need to step it up. If somebody buys a night ticket they should be entitled to a good experience.

Yes indeed! Agree 100%. Used to be a great time going up after work, it was almost like first-run, morning conditions in the afternoon. Days gone by... :banghead

yea i gotta say i thought saturday morning was excellent - especially after skiing tuesday. the change from some of the worse conditions ive ever seen to some of the best (man made) is nothing short of amazing!

Agree! Opening run down Main Street found fresh blown and only half the slope groomed! :wiggle Came onto the ungroomed  WTF is that?

Unfortunately after a few hours the boilerplate started showing from the previous week's warmth/rain. Jump landings were unbearably hard.

  3. I don't know if it's still the case but I think if you are skiing with a season passholder you can also go in the VIP line..one non passholder per passholder was the rule last season...

pretty steezy how the quad VIP-line haz minimal lines on one of the busiest weekends of the season..go Blue!!!

MLK day saw the lift lines pretty long with tons of school kids off for the day.

However, VIP lines where negligible 1-2 people deep and they were checking everyone. :rofl

VIP lines are THE perk for season pass holders! :rock Agree 100%, Go Blue!

  4. No doubt its good for blue, it was just funny how long the liftlIne was by.10am.

Hopefully they'll keep putting the $$ back into the mountain to make it better.

Another few expert trails would be awesome! :naughty

Should replace the double-double with a detachable quad. They're far easier for beginners to load.

  5. Have to also say that I have tried boarding too. Can't knock something unless you tried it. Did it out in Winter Park where runs are nice and wide and even took a lesson.

Have to say it was fun, once I got the hang of it. However, I spent more time on my butt than actually boarding. My shoulders, wrists, elbows, butt all hurt bad the next day.

I think it's far better suited for Western areas. Out here in the East, we ski/board mostly hard-pack. Watch most boarders going down Chute or upper Challenge, they're not

boarding, they're just sideways pushing the snow. True good boarders surf the snow, IMHO.

  6. \

no hate on riding..there are pros to snowboarding too..in the woods I feel like snowboards are better as they are a bit shorter and seem to float better over snowsnakes..I think snowboarding in deep powder has to be the ill shiznit..I'm more afraid to get injured trying it out..I'd need a good instructor like Robert2 and alot of body armour..a couple years ago BadAssbunny who taught snowboarding at Blue decided to give skiing a try and in 3 runs on Paradise she went from hating it to loving it..of course cause I gave her some steezy pointers.

It took me four days on skis until I was going down Lazy Mile and it wasn't until my 3rd season that I was straightlining main street..you picked it up quick..

No hate here either, just observations. :wiggle

However, there are bad/good in both boarders and skiers. Those who have no consideration for beginners on beginner slopes.

Hate is reserved for those that "think" they're good enough and barrel down Burma, Paradise or Lazy (Crazy) to show off.

If they ARE that good, they should head to the runs where they won't hurt any beginners who are just trying to develop a love for the sport.

  7. It's always a pain skiing with boarders. You always have to stop and wait for them to sit down and buckle up or one-foot traverse a flat.

Or have to ski through a ton of them sitting right off the lift, clogging up the slope.

How many times do you see a line of boarders sitting across Tut's, right at the top of the 6-pack? :banghead

Give me two skis and poles any day... :rock

Kudos to the boarders than can ride off the lift, click in and go!

  8. With the lack of twice daily grooming I haven't had any enthusiasm for RAW...

Yeah, what ever happened to the afternoon grooming? That used to be the prime reason to go up after work, fresh cord! :wiggle

I realize it's the cost of diesel to run the groomers, but they needn't do all the slopes, just the heavily traversed ones to mow down the push piles and cover up the hardpack/boilerplate.

Guess management has no love for their clientele. :banghead

I'll be up all day tomorrow for the Buckmans demo. So far I know that myself (Line skis) and K2 skis will be there. We'll see who else shows up but I'd assume most of the Buckman's brands will. Should be a nice day!

    Ah, love my Lines! :rofl

  9. Pretty soon they will be selling 2011-2012 season passes..probably in February..I just paid off this years pass on my credit card :banghead

Ugh, gonna break the $500 mark this year, I bet... :no

Still got 3 more sessions to go before breaking even on this year's pass.

  10. Owen agree with you about every mountain having pluses and minuses.

Elk is a great mountain with a great "feel". It does feel like a mini Vermont or NH. Definitely best in PA.

I like them all, other than Blue Mt. Maybe because my younger son went out of there in an ambulance with a concussion. Death cookie victim. Not just that. Blue just has a low class feel to me from the trash on the lift paths to the stinky lodge. I won't go to Bear Creek any longer also, that place is a day care center!

What? The trash on the lift lines, the Bra Tree? Low Class? Come on!

All that and death cookies is what give Blue its class! :rofl

  11. You love that sun..lol..

Blue is north facing so this time of year it's hardly in the sun..and yesterday it wasn't that sunny like 60+ percent cloudcover..it would be cool if they built some runs on the backside..then you could work on your goggle tan but I don't think they own that land..

Would be cool, unfortunately it would be difficult to keep backside trails covered in snow with the sun beating down on them all the time.

Natural lighting gets better towards spring as the sun gets higher in the sky.

Night skiing also provides some pretty good lighting too, since the lights provide more coverage than sun.

  12. It works for me but the lenes needs to be cleaned. Wonder if the main street cam will show that really nice sugar snow?

WOW! Major sugar piles on Main Street last night!!

Lots of high school buses = lots of kids biting it cuz they don't know how to ski the sugar... :rofl

    Welcome to Blue!

  13. likely.

Yeah, got probably 2/3 of it groomed, jumps built and some rails in.

Probably want to make some more snow on the bottom 1/3, looked a little thin near the merge.

OK, so they were monitoring the VIP line today. Seems a bit hokey with the new RFID tags.

They had a worker stationed at the end of the line asking to see passes, so now you gotta whip out your pass and show them to get into the VIP line.

Before you could have it dangling off the retractor and they could just see it.

:confused Wondering if I saved my old armbands of days gone by to hold my new pass.

  14. Snow in the customer's back yard always brings more people than snow on the mountain.

Isn't that the truth! Far better to just be cold enough for them to blow snow, than to get natural.

Natural brings everyone out of the woodwork (South Jersey, Philly, Delaware, Maryland, etc.)

To them, no snow on the ground = no snow on the mountain, but we all know better...:naughty

It was way-crowded today. Get their early to get your runs in by 11, then beat-feet!

Lift ticket lines at the top shack were out the door, past the ski check and almost to the snow...unbelievable!

  15. why would people want to punch a hole in it??

If it had a hole in it, I would have put the hanger thingy through the hole in the pass, not the stupid cover.

Heck, I probably wouldn't have even used the cover as the passes are plastic and it's the chip that's important.

I can understand it. I have my Super Pass linked to me checking account. It's nice to not have to carry around one more thing. That being said, I REALLY like having barely anything in my pocket. I usually hit the slopes with my phone, my pass, and just my truck key. House keys, wallet, etc get locked in the glove box. If I'm out solo I bring my wallet just in case I'm found passed out and taken to the hospital (as my insurance card is in my wallet). With a group though I figure they can grab it from my truck if shit gets real.

Anyway, having the thing linked to your checking account/credit card is all the more reason to NOT wear it on the outside of your jacket.

Ugh! With all the break-ins at Blue, I don't leave anything to chance in the car. Always have the wallet with me.

I just found it a PITA to have to pull it out to get my discount for the food!
