  1. I bought one as well (not $500 if you went through here), and I agree it's no fun to pay anywhere else. But I like riding better than sitting around waiting for Bear to open. All depends on what you want to do with your money I guess, but it helps to not put all your eggs in BC's basket.
  2. It definitely sucks Bear can't get it going (not for lack of effort), but I don't understand anyone bitching about not being able to ride. There's other mountains open, with full parks.
  3. Yup, on the website. That's great news, just in time too. Anybody have some info on what they'll set up?
  4. I wasn't saying "Since Boulder opened, Bear should too," nor that they should claim they are when they aren't. All I said was that Bear not being able to open when Boulder, Blue, Springs, possibly Roundtop, and whatever other pocono places will be opening, isn't good for them. I also completely agree with the sentiment that if they can have 1-2 trails open with decent cover, they'd be crazy not to. You don't pass up making money because someone coming from the south may not be enticed.
  5. I don't know what any of you guys are talking about, there has been pre-Christmas (and generally closer to Thanksgiving) riding in PA for the past like 5 years at least. Bear not opening until Christmas (or especially later) would be very detrimental to them, that's prime money-making time. The fact that Boulder opened last weekend, and apparently everywhere else is opening this weekend, with no word from Bear, isn't good. But hopefully they surprise everyone and have something up.
  6. Anywhere you go early season like this will be crowded. Killington was crowded last weekend, and will be crowded this weekend. Boulder will be too, and Bear would be if it was open. Maybe not ideal, but better than waiting around and not riding.
  7. Well at least Boulder is on their game and is going to be open.
  8. You're right, people were talking about the hike park on the 3rd and hopeful opening on the 10th. It looks like I skimmed the paragraphs a little too quickly. Regardless, couldn't they potentially get something together for this weekend?
  9. So, what are the chances of them actually doing this hike park that got mentioned? Temps look like they should be cold enough to blow at night from tonight or tomorrow onward...having something Saturday or Sunday would be awesome.
  10. Yeah I realize they're low. Generally that would just mean they have low lips onto the rail (perfect for all these beginner rail riders everyone is looking out for). But whatever, it's not specific to those rails, just a general gripe.
  11. I have been there in the past week in fact, but not after the rain so, no, not in the past 2 days. But the only point you'd be making with that is it took a melt out for the rails to be higher. And what are you trying to say about the down flat down? Pretty sure I made no reference to me being the only person that can hit down rails, but thanks for that.
  12. There's only one down rail that IS urban, the skinny down bar in Black Bear next to the thick tube. Technically the Arbor rail is urban but the rail can't be more than 1-2" above the lip which is pretty weird. The down rail after that in Cascade is straight on, as is the down bar next to it (although I get what they were doing the the box. A perfect learning rail for people regardless). The thick tube in Black Bear is straight on, as is the down flat down. It's all well and good that there are people learning to hit rails/boxes, and that's what that other little baby park is for, and the flat boxes. Down rails are for people that can hit down rails, and you only learn to hit them by really hitting them. If you can ride straight onto a down rail, it's not set up right, and that's how all but one of them are.
  13. Well in that case, yeah you don't need too many flatland things. Guess I was confused because there aren't any of those at Bear while there are a bunch of hateful straight-on rails. I was just up there last night...why can't all of the rails be set up like this: Instead of this: I'm not trying to complain because you guys have a fun park set up with a really good rail selection...but this is like park building 101.
  14. Bear Creek, I made an account just for this comment alone. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't listen to this girl. If anything, you guys need to make more of your features skate style, with one or two straight on things. The Arbor rail, the thick tube, the dfd...all of them should be set up legit urban style, no questions asked. Having a straight on down rail is for the birds. There's a reason no legit mountains do that.
