Although, I've skied in freezing rain plenty of times at blue and their high speeds were still running. The amount of force applied by the detaching mechanism is so high compared to the amount of ice that can build up in CB/Blues 4 minute lift ride. Running lifts (detachable) in unsafe weather conditions.
