indiggio Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 Back from another fun day at Solitude. Decided to skip yesterday and wait for the big storm today and it didn’t disappoint. Checked the snow stake early and it showed 13+” wherever it’s located, so headed for the bus stop. The bus was more crowded this morning with other powder-starved sliders. Arrived at the mountain where it was 34’ and still snowing. The walk up the stairs I could feel the snow was very wet and stuck to the bottoms of my boots and only about 6” at the base. Lineup wasn’t very crowded and was delayed a bit with avy bombs going off above; a telltale sign of a good day. Up the Moonbeam and right back down to get a feel for the snow, which was packed and fast. Over to the Apex for a few laps in some fresh that I could find, nice! Thinking the Eagle should be starting at 9, so headed that way. This was a newbie mistake as the upper part is socked in and taking SP longer to clear it to open. Waited a good 20 mins. before SP allowed it to load and was lucky to get first chair for some untracked powder. Unfortunately at the top visibility sucked and it was feel your way down, so I headed for some shrubbery to help with visibility. It was definitely a full foot of fresh that if course am not used to and after getting going, tipped in and somersaulted into the snow. Good to get that outta the way! Made a few more laps and peaced out for home. Finally looking like winter, at least up in the mountains. JADIP SP actually help clean the chairs! 3 2
