I've ridden two full seasons on it without it being touched in terms of edges or base (that includes waxing). So my mom took it to Nestor's for a "full tune-up." Not exacltly sure what that entitled but they sharpened my edges and patched some holes in the base. Anyways, in an effort to treat my equipment better I bought some wax. The thing is I dont know if they waxed it during the full tune-up or not. My mom seemed to indicate that it was stone ground, but I'm not positive that happened. Also someone on the board mentioned after getting equipment stone ground it needs to be waxed heavily. Anyways... just wondering how to tell if the board needs to be waxed before the season. I would check out the receipt myself to see if they waxed but... it was a birthday present so yeah.
Ski Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 If it hadn't been waxed for two years, it should be pretty obvious if they waxed it. Is it shiny, or does it seem dull, maybe with a little white powder here and there? Shiny means waxed... A full tune-up usually includes a wax. When they sharpen the base edge or stone grind, they make it absolutely necessary that you wax. When in doubt, wax. It never hurts to wax. And even if just use the liquid wax in a bottle that you rub on, it'll make your board turn better and last longer.
soldier32 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 yea man thats not good at all that you let two years go by without doing anything to it. as soon as you get on the snow ull notice a major differenct. but yea u should learn how to wax and get into the habit of doing it. i hot wax my board every 3 to 4 times i go just to make sure my base is always in good shape
