  1. What next?! You probably need a smaller hat from your brain shrinking!
  2. Toast.....are you sure it's not a Chip-fib?
  3. Wrong. You can't cut your way to prosperity. You need to spend. Have you seen their brochure? Prices have gone up a bunch for this year.
  4. How do you increase your margins genius? Have your customers spend more money. How do you get them to spend more money? Have facilities and amenities they will spend money for. Funny thing is that I have no problem spending the money for food or a drink in a nice place. I get out of Blue ASAP when I'm done skiing! I'm not paying $5 for a hamburger or beer in a shithole. You think the tuber is going to go for the ski area prices on food and booze? I doubt it, but time will tell. The skiers and boarders have been putting up with terrible facilities at Blue for years. I had hoped with the new owner it would get better for the longtime loyal customers. It looks like they are going to cater to the tubing and concerts instead.
  5. The bar at Elk rocks! Just another example of the lack of class Blue has. The bar at Blue looks like a UPS shipping facility with beer signs hanging up. If you fall off the Elk truck, maybe you should take up tubing and stay away from skiing.
  6. Where? I have been in nicer pole barns! It's a lodge, not a place for milking cows. My favorite part is the 2x8 floor. There is no reason Blue can't have nice facilities. AND don't even get me started on closing 2 weeks before Camelcrap! You don't see any buildings for milking camels up there!
  7. I'm not sure what the hell is going on at Blue. A few years ago they talked about a lodge at the bottom with condos. I thought, oh this will be cool. Then we don't hear another thing about it. EVER! Then out of nowhere they put up a tent for TUBING! Fucking tubing! Blue has a new trail that they won't even open the whole thing this year. They have been working on that for YEARS! The lodge at the bottom is a complete shithole but we get a new TUBING TENT! Are you fucking kidding me? AND now I read in the Morning Call that they want to build a permanent concert venue. Maybe try a permanent lodge first! BUILD A FUCKING LODGE AND RESORT AMENITIES SKIERS WANT. THEY ARE YOUR MAIN CUSTOMER! IT'S NOT FUCKING ROCKET SCIENCE!
  8. Not true, polarized lenses have nothing to do with protection. Polarized lenses cut glare not UV or IR. Most glasses or goggles today have UV protection.
  9. What about wool socks? They make me itch.
  10. Anyone read the piece in Skiing mag about the show? They bash it hard!
  11. I don't have a beef ............Chipsteak. I don't want to read the same crap about a movie in every forum. Believe it or not, I'm agreeing with you.
  12. Somebody please delete all those posts and put it in the correct area. Idiot! You don't see me posting "The Loft sucks" in every forum!
  13. This is just the first group to get less. Next it's shop employees and then Blue employees. Mark my words. Ray is dead!
  14. It looks like you guys are correct. Below is a response from a friend in the lift industry. I would have never thought this to be true but Brad would know. "Hi FGT, The capacity of a FGQ and HSQ are the same...the maximum allowed being 2,400 pph. A high speed model allows resorts to provide a faster trip for skiers, while a fixed grip allows more skiers to be absorbed riding the chair. Chair spacing is limited to an interval of say 10 seconds or so (I can't tell you the exact # without looking at ANSI), hence why chairs are closer spaced on fixed models and farther on HSQs. As you can expect, resorts have theirs reasons for selecting either. Hope this helps, Brad"
  15. Oh his name is Keith. I always heard him called sprocket or jockey, something like that. Not sure. I was told they kicked him out of the trailer in the parking lot and he needed a place to live. Colorado is a nice place. I hope he didn't try to drive that mulch truck out there.
  16. What's up with sidewinder this year? Any truth to the rumor about Park Crue getting his ass fired? Talk about a dosh.
  17. Your #'s make sense but you provided them. None of you have explained why a resort would spend all that extra cash for no capacity gain. I suspect one of your figures is not correct.
  18. Would you rather stand in line or sit on a chair? This is another reason the detach has to be faster. Why would a ski area want you standing in line? Imagine the sales pitch. "Well Mrs. Green you are correct. The lift line will be longer but don't worry the chair only costs 4 times as much." It just doesn't make sense!
  19. It has to be. I would love to see some real #'s from a manufacturer that compares apples to apples. I looked and can't really find one. There would be no good reason for a resort to spend the extra dollars to go detachable unless it gave them much more capacity. A detachable costs probably 4 times as much to buy, not to mention the maintenance costs.
  20. Maybe you agree. I don't. Show me data that says uphill capacity is about the same. Detachable is at least double that of fixed.
  21. So a lift that you get 3 extra runs an hour has the same capacity as a fixed grip? Not to mention the 2 extra people on a six pack.
  22. Then why would resorts spend the cash for detachables?
