  1. Let me be the first to tell you, just in case this post wasn't supposed to be sarcasm.....It wasn't about the hat.

Sounds like the kind of girl who would be very happy sitting at the bar in the lodge at Stratton dressed in a very expensive Bogner ski suit. Don't fight it. The Bogner suit and drinks are worth it if you can ski all day and the apres ski is good. ;)

you are 100% correct. it just took me a little while to figure that out.

  2. I'm pretty sure my first day has been black friday the last 2 winters, so I'm hoping for that again. I'd almost expect that unless it is an unusually warm November, but based on this year so far I have high hopes it won't be.

if temperatures trend the way they currently are, i think there's a very good shot at opening the weekend before thanksgiving. from what i have been reading, they are saying cooler than normal october, which i hope = cooler than normal november.

i like your numbers, but i will say 90% by november 27th. i think a really early november opening is unlikely, that just seems like something that might not happen again for some time to come.

  3. See what I'm talking about?!!!

She was not ready to be on that mountain yet.

there were a few other factors working against her skiing that day:

1 - i cant teach. dont know what i was thinking.

2 - it was cold and windy out.

3 - she had to wear a hat, and that was "destroying" her hair.

if she didnt have to wear a hat, i think she may have been ok.

  4. i tired teaching an x of mine to ride... wasn't worth it at all. just complained the entire time and then gave me the cold shoulder in bed that night. pay for a lesson, your sex life will thank you.

yep, tried that...didnt go so well. her words to me were, "YOU need to find a way for me to get the fuck off of this mountain. she was the ultimate handbrake.

  5. i am also prepping for a nice trip to whiteface, with a lay-over at gore, possibly. seems like out west might be a bit out of reach for me, for a few different reasons. lately i cant get this place off my mind for some reason.....

  6. Lay off Robert2 already.

Although he IS different, he is a nice guy.

I don't know why you guys pile on people.

now, now, dont get your britches in a bunch. i dont think anyone here has a problem with robert2, he seems like quite a fun guy. i personally would like to split a few six packs with him at the E2000.

i will actually miss his reports if he is not skiing at JF.

  7. i would skip the season pass for right now, see how many times you actually go,, and make the season pass decision later on. dont forget JFBB should again offer a season pass sometime in Feb that will cover the balance of the current year, and the following year...if i remember correctly its quite a good deal.

so...can we get back on topic here or what? wait.....what was the topic....skiing or school?

"Jack Frost Mountain staff under the direction of Mark Daubert have been busy clearing out more glades, adding tower guns, replacing snowmaking pipe, and "elevator" work. Here are some teasers of what has been going on this summer.

Riders this coming winter will be treated to glade expansions on Challenge and Jane's Lane. The glade on skier's right of Challenge has been extended to the East Mountain Lift. Jane's Lane has new glades also on skier's right that go to D Lift. The crews have been busy installing 18 30' tower guns on various slopes including Thunderbolt and Exhibition!"

This is all good news. The challenge glade sounds like it will be sweet although it already skied down to the lift, just had some rocks and logs to look out for. Jane's glade sounds like it'll be fun too and can't wait for the Elevator."

    good stuff right there.

and another - "Some folks can be happy skiing around alone all day at a hill in PA. I would go nuts. I need some type of 'crew' to ride with, goof off with, ride lifts with, etc..."

pretty much sums it up right there....not really where you ski, but who you are skiing with. everyone has thier "home" mountain which they ski at for some good reason or another.

the JF crew might be a small group, buts its a good group. good times for the short time i have known them.
