  1. Thanks for the response. When was the last time you were parks at each mountain? What were the size, condition, and number of the table top jumps?

  3. I am heading to Vermont this weekend and our group will be staying at a condo in the Okemo area. I'm looking for a mountain that has the BEST table top jumps with 20ft - 35ft gaps. Looking for a well groomed park with clean/predictable take-offs and steep landings. Which is the best mountain for me this season? Thanks for any info.

  5. I want to spend this weekend at JF/BB, I'm even thinking about heading up as early as Thursday. -Does anyone wants to go in on a rental? -Does anyone have a rental to share? Worst case scenario, I will be renting on my own. Any suggestions? The last time I was there, I found single room rates averaged about $100 a night. I ended up just grabbing a cheap room for one night and drove home the next evening after the spending the day on the mountain. Might be doing the same thing again, depending on what I find. Hope to see some members up there this weekend.

    boulder park

Anyone else hitting Boulder tommorrow? (2/4)
  7. Just doing a "roll call" for Boulder tommorrow. Anyone want to meet up?
  8. I'm having a problem with my Burton boots and I see that Burton's Demo Day is at MC tommorrow. I'm thinking about heading up to check out the new boots and see if Burton will do something for me. Do you thing MC is worth driving 2.5 hours from Philadelphia? I only like to hit well built jumps that are like 10ft-30ft. I don't do rails or boxes. How many jumps are at MC? What are they like? Do you think I would like MC? Thanks for any info.
  9. You're not kidding. Speed is your friend! I had to bomb the run between jumps to clear the flat. No complaints though. I LOVED the parks at BB!
  10. ONLY because the kid obviously did NOT get hurt....... THAT WAS PRICELESS!!!!! I wanted to do that MANY times this weekend but swerved off the jump instead. I would love to tail tap some parents though........
  11. I heard the urban myth of the famous "Nipple's video" this weekend so I thought I'd revive this year old thread. So, where's the link?
  12. Sorry about the long post. I'm just a little fired up after dodging people in the park this weekend.
  13. I would like to head up as well. I need to find a spot to stay Saturday night. I may just rally a few friends and just do a day trip. We'll see.
  14. If a jump has 30 feet or more of "flat" between the lip/takeoff and the "knuckle" of the landing, I have to build a significant amount of speed to be able to clear it. If I don't clear the 30+ feet of flat, I will land on the flat and the impact can be like jumping off the top a garage or a 2nd story window onto concrete depending on how the jump is designed. If I am building speed and some unaware person blocks my path, I have to scrub off speed to avoid them which potentially causes me to land in the flat. The worse case is when someone is just sitting out of sight on the landing. I realized there was a small child just sitting on the landing as I was leaving the takeoff once at Killington. I was airborne and could not avoid landing on the child. I know if I landed the way I was supposed to, I would have crushed the child with my snowboard's bottom/edge and I did not want to seriously hurt the child. So, I pushed my legs straight out in front of me and raised my board as high as I could so that I would land on my butt and back. I tried to turn my body away from the child as well move as much of my weight from the kid as I landed on top of him. Well, that made the impact even worse for me because all my weight came slamming down on one side of my hip/butt when I hit the ice. My back just grazed the child when I landed and none of my weight landed on him. But, I was seriously hurt and I couldn't stop moaning and making a spectacle of myself. Those parents came over and picked the kid up from right next to me and didn't even say a word while I was laying there moaning. I should have gotten an ambulance but I just laid there for 30min+ until my friends helped me off the mountain. I had swelling and the pain persisted after the swelling subsided which was almost 2 months later. I don't know why I never saw a Dr. The bottom line is this: people that can't hit and leave obstacles in the terrain park properly and quickly are dangerous to themselves and others. First of all, Parents need to be responsible for their children. Secondly, Management needs to find a solution to this hazard or people are going to continue to suffer needless injuries. 1st Grade School Teacher- Imagine if that child was one of your students and you were responsible for him at the mountain. How would you have handled that situation? What would you propose to avoid that situation and my injury in the future? Unfortunately, Your post illuminates the fact that you have no idea what you are talking about.
  15. I hit JF/BB with the PASR crew this weekend and was pretty impressed with the terrain parks. We rented a 3 bedroom house at JF/BB with a Jucuzzi and a fire place at JF/BB for the entire season for $3,000 before. But, we didn't like the terrain parks and decided to do weekend trips to Stratton/Snow instead. Now that I see that the parks are improved, I'm thinking about finding a rental at JF/BB. Best sceanario would be a group that has rented a house for the season at JF/BB that would let me buy a share. If I can't fine that, can anyone recommend any good rentals? (daily, weekly, monthly, rest of 2007 season) The best nightly hotel rate I could find up there was $50. Thanks for any info.
  16. If you can't properly/quickly enter and exit a jump/rail/etc.; You shouldn't be in the park. I think it must suck going up the stairs all day, but at least it's a start for management actually doing something to keep people off the park that shouldn't be there. Unfortunately, you have to set up deterrents to keep people out of the park. Requiring additional effort or money seems to be the only way to keep the park free of unwanted traffic. I wouldn't even go to Blue anymore because the landings and lips were so torn up from toddlers/beginners that it wasn't safe to hit the park. Maybe the stairs will improve the park. My idea would be to rope off the entire park with only ONE entrance which is accessed by ONE lift. No park pass, no entrance to the lift or park. Anyone without a pass in the park gets tossed off the mountain. If thats not feasible, they could at least have a employee at the entrance of the park to screen who comes in. I watched parents attached to toddles with "leashes" actually "drive" these kids over the lips of the jumps while snowplowing. And then they give an attitude when you politley remind them that the park is only for those who can properly use the terrain. I've been serioulsy injured before in the terrain park because of toddlers "appearing" in areas where they shouldn't be. I'll say it again: If you can't properly/quickly enter and exit a jump/rail/etc.; You shouldn't be in the park.
