  1. Nick, regardless of who they have as a park manager next year, It all comes down to the park crew. If the crew is lazy and would rather hang out in the shop or ski or ride on their shift then the park will be the same. It takes alot of dedication and hard work by the whole crew to put together a nice park. You can't have three guys who really want to work and eleven who won't strap out of their bindings to do maintainence on the park. As part of the park crew you share responsibility for the park's success as well as it's shortcomings. It could be real good as you stated, but your park crew will determine that.
  2. ok this is what's going on Saturday. We are putting out our 100 foot handrail and seeing who can make it the farthest down it. We are also having a big air event on the table next to the 22 foot half pipe. We'll have an area at the bottom of the pipe fenced off with a barb-b-q (dogs and burgers) and music. Registration is from 11 to 12 in the main lodge. The fee is $25.00 which includes the contest, a twilight lift ticket, and the barb-b-q. You must sign our waiver to enter and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian's signaure. The event will run from 1 to 5 pm. Thanks for your support this season, Mike
  3. Corey, sorry to inform you but there is no St. Paddy's Jam. We are going to be doing an event in the terrain park the following Saturday. I will have more info about the event for you Thursday, at the very latest Friday. Mike
  4. the purse is $10,000 spread out over six stops. It equates to not alot of money for the winners per stop but the actual prize is that the top 15 riders of the tour are invited to the grand prix events next year. This tour is a must for any amatuer trying to take the next step. This tour's registration filled up within 45 minutes of opening registration in November. It's a ussa and fis sanctioned event.
  5. we used our park monkey to spray salt on the sunny side of the pipe to keep it from getting soft, that's what the prints were from (you couldn't shoot that side from the deck because of it's size). after the pic our park staff did a reverse v on the bottom and cleaned out the tracks.
  6. the planet guys were getting about 6 feet out, a couple of our park guys were airing off the top and Mark Spiecher was absolutely shredding it.
  7. the 22 foot pipe was recut this afternoon and the weather was picture perfect.
  8. everyone gets the velcro band. No sticker's on the pass.
  9. The band is yours to keep and is good for the whole season.
  10. It fits outside your coat.
  11. The park pass will be enforced starting Sunday. The program is free and you will be issued a wrist band that must be worn to use our terrain park on Spike. The whole program is run out of the ski patrol chalet located at the top of the mountain. The chalet is directly across from the big terrain park. You will see the signs posted on the chalet deck. The movie is about 13 minutes. The whole process should only take 20 minutes. During the week the pass program will be run based on demand. If you come to the mountain during the week and would like to get your pass please go to skier services so they can radio someone from the terrain park to get you setup. During this week to help get your pass early we are running the video at 6:00 pm and 7:30pm Wednesday thru Friday. If you are under 18 the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian. You will not be able to participate in the program without the waiver being signed. You can download the waiver at our website Snomtn.com. Mike
  12. you can use any of the features just remember that you are scored on technical difficulty. The contest is going to be in Jam format, if you are happy with your first run stick with it. If not you can get as many runs as possible during the time frame of your age group. flat copings, the ride ons will have pop to them as well as the gapped rails. Our park crew will be working the event and keeping things in good shape. I wouldn't count on just three girls competing. The day of the contest should have a pretty decent walk up.
  13. Jordan, we agree about the 3 rails on the headwall and that will be taken care of later in the week. As far as the rail garden goes, we did plan on putting a pretty cool rail garden in towards the end of the run. If you had ridden Sno last week you would have noticed we kept putting features in and the groomers would have to take them out because it was too thin in that area and they needed the snow to keep the trail open. The way we have been making snow around the clock with this present cold streak we should be able to add alot more features and give the park a real nice shape. thanks for the input. Mike
  14. it's a slopestyle contest not a big air contest. Sure you'll probable score better on that feature but that alone isn't going to determine your placing in the contest. yes
  15. the expert side will be set up single barrel down rail, table top with raised lip, down flat down, cheese wedge, long flat rail, finish with the c bowl. all expert rails will be gapped novice - flat or down box, table top, x box, cheese wedge, long flat box, finish with c bowl. all novice rails will be ride on. I am going to possible subsitute a few things on the expert side if possible. (stair case, battleship, 29 ft rainbow) the course is not set in stone, things are subject to change based on the flow of the course. I will know a little more about the jump sizes on thursday. We are currently making more snow on the trail for the jumps. Mike
  16. Sunday January 27,2008 Registration is 8:00am-9:00am in the lodge $10 entry fee. (All the entry fees are used for the cash prizes) competitors without a sno season pass are given a discounted lift ticket rate of $20.00 for the day. Competition starts at 10:30am Men's and Women's Age Groups: 11-14, 15-17 and 18 & older. we are having a 10 and under age group. The contest will be held on Mainline trail and the finish line will be visible from the Sno Grille (If your friends or parents come they can watch the contest from the Sno Grille Deck). The course will be setup with a novice side and an expert side. Under eighteen must have the release waiver signed by a parent or guardian. You can download the waiver at http://snomtn.com/events/lokireg.htm there will be cash prizes as well as prizes furnished by Sno Mountain and the Ski Corner. any additional questions about this contest or future contests can be e-mailed to me: beaker@snomtn.com Thanks, Mike
  17. ok, let's get this straightened out. We never told Nick he couldn't do the Loki's contest and he never asked me about having the day off until today at work. Nick is off the day of the competition and WILL be competing. We want our employees to compete in our contests as well as anyone else's. Our management team is very flexible and all it takes is a little communication from our employees. Mike
  18. We are shooting for the earliest Friday night for the park to open the latest Saturday morning weather permitting.
  19. The adding of new trails that are short is not neccessarily a marketing strategy to boost your trail count. You have to have a name for the sections of skiable terrain for association purposes for your skiers and boarders as well as ski patrol to being able to pinpoint reported injuries on the mountain. When you look at the map it should be cut and dry where you are as well as a name to go with it. Sno added the Baby Moose trail and it is their childrens learning center area. The naming of the trail makes it easy for anyone who is bringing their children to learn to ski or ride for the first time to locate it as well as the kids being able to associate what section of the mountain they where on for the day.
