  1. I'm going to Blue tomorrow, should be a nice day.
  2. They're putting in a hotel/timeshare with an indoor water park to compete with great Wolf, a quarter share for the 5th floor club runs 250 G's, or so I heard. They're gonna put it up right in front of the Stevenson Lift. I guess I can't blame them for trying to wring more dollars out of their investment. Ski season isn't their big money generator anyway, the summer season pulls down the big dollars. That's why Elk is worth the extra hour drive for me. I've never been to Sno Mountain, I'm gonna give it a shot before the end of the season if I can rally a few others to drive up there.
  3. I just got back from CB today, conditions were decent, Cliffhanger was a bit rubbly on the top third but enough chalky manmade to avoid bulletproof ice on the bottom two thirds. The groomers did a nice job with Asp, they've created deeper ravines on the right along the fall line and allowed it to get slightly bumped up in the middle. Rocket was getting icy and the Hump and Margie were unremarkable and skiable with a few icy spots. I called it a day by 1:30 due to the crowds. The new owners are rapidly turning the whole place into a "resort" which only makes CB less attractive to me as a ski destination. I came home this afternoon and opted not to stay another nite to ski Sunday. Elk was decent on Thursday and superb on Friday. They opened an ungroomed upper Tunkhannock which was deep and soft all day long. The freeheelers were out in force and the left side of the hill was Bump central. Friday was as close to a 10 all around. Downside: quite a few trails were closed.
  4. We're doing Elk Thurs/Fri, CB Sat/Sun, looks like cold weather is in the cards into next week.
  5. Scranton? Sushi?????? Ted-San below has the freshest available, but its a BYO chopstix, wasabi, ginger and plate. http://www.google.com/search?q=Scranton+Ba...tf8&oe=utf8
  6. Elk reported 3" new snow, CB is making snow since last nite.

    Everything Elk

Elk has old world charm, and prolly the best hill in PA, imo. Plusses: Long runs, decent grooming, good amenities, reasonably priced. Negatives: needs more high speed lifts, bar is cash only, bartenders have a weird attitude, not much else to do around Elk, it's truly in the sticks. It's also a longer drive for those of us south of the Pocos. I don't board, so I can't comment on terrain parks, jumps, etc.
  9. Check out the Church Inn, great bar and food, super cozy. For the boozing young crowd, Ye olde bull ring tavern fits the bill. Nothing special inside, but plenty of TV's, tunes, etc. Ludlow is a nice little village, plenty of places to barhop and eat.
  10. Were staying in Pocono Pines Wednesday nite, prolly head over to the Jubilee for drinks and heading for Elk early Thursday AM.
  11. Webcams at Blue and Camelback show whiteness from the heavens.........
  12. We're heading up to Elk Wednesday nite for Thurs/Friday skiing, anyone in that neck o' the woods that can look out the window? Gonna do Camelback Sat. for dessert. This January is a lot like last year. It sucked.
