  1. Absent a good dump from mother nature, this season is terminal conditionswise. Maybe Elk or Sno avoided the rain, but Prez weekend is gonna be fugly further south. I'm not gonna waste my $$ or risk injury before hitting some real snow next week and thereafter. Let's hope the weather changes for the better....quickly.
  2. yeah, he's a "Slowski". Think commercial
  3. I'll sweat the details in the AM. I'm up early anyway. If it looks like crap, I'll grab the laptop and go back to bed and work...........
  4. Sure sounds like it. That's why I didn't get too excited about Wed. And I don't feel like driving 4-6 hours to ski for 5 hours. I just wanna do some runs before headin to Whiteface next week. Only other day I have open til then is Sunday.

    Intro

You'll keep getting better the more you ski, like most anything. It actually gets easier when you feel comfortable skiing faster and riding your edges, and is less work on the legs. Keep building on your progress, but most importantly, enjoy it no matter what level of skier you are.
  6. Live webcam sure doesn't suggest any heavy snow there. Anybody nearby that can give firsthand info on current accumulation, if any, and is it still snowing? We got a dusting in Philly, and a few flakes are still falling.
  7. I might bring my Captain Morgan's eye patch along. Maybe impairing my depth perception will add a little challenge to the hill, ROFL!!!!!!!!
  8. I'm heading up to that mole hill Wednesday, despite a bad case of swimmer's ear I picked up in Maine last week. I thought the left side of my head was gonna explode Sunday nite. Doctor hooked me up with drops and antibiotics, and I can hear again. Hope they get some snow today. Ski club members get 12$ day pass. BONUS!!!!!!
  9. Kewl. I'll take my old Machetes up there this week instead of Blue, just to check it out for shitz n giggles. cuts about 20 minutes off my driving time and they give a club discount to boot.
  10. I had no idea Bear Creek (Doe MT) was so close. I just checked the site and a map for directions, its closer than Blue for me. I didn't know they had any hills there. What was it, a previous landfill?
  11. No way I'm driving 10-11 hours after skiing a week in J-hole. I put a hold on a flight into Spokane via SLC, then drive about 1.5 hours. I have to work out the flight back to Philly from Spokane, instead of Jackson.
  12. Guns are making snow as we speak, let's channel some positive vibes to keep the cold blast around a little longer
  13. It's a piece of god's country, for sure, with a dose of Swiss alpine feel to it. Gotta rearrange a few things on the calendar and work out the travel logistics first. I like having those kinda problems.........
  14. Just got an email from my buds in Idaho, open invite to go to Schweitzer in March and stay at the cabin, dovetails with the J-hole trip. OH MYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! Check out there website, cool video with Wolfmother soundtrack.......... http://www.schweitzer.com/
  15. you guys are funny.........
  16. I know CB is shown on our local NBC affiliate on Ch. 10. I think Blue is CBS channel 3, and JF/BB is ABC ch. 6.
  17. Jackson's got another 20" on deck White face just got over a foot
  18. Camelback webcam is pointing at Rocket and Marjie's, nobody on it, are they still closed? The base must look like shit, cuz they rarely pan the camera at the mountain, lol
  19. It's not a rip, it's reality. And I still like Camelback, I know and ski with some of the rangers, bartenders and lift attendants, not to mention many hardcore regulars like gerhart and 2 turn Bernie. Every mountain has its flaws, I'm most familiar with Camelback's. If I go to Blue enough times, I'm sure I could pick a few scabs there as well. I gave the new owners credit for doing a great job on snowmaking last year, which was almost as bad a snow season as this one so far. I still consider it my "home mountain" by default, even though this will be the first year in many that I haven't been up there on a regular basis. The place is evolving, hoping to capitalize on more domestic travel, gambling, and competing with other nearby resorts and attractions. But that doesn't mean I have to evolve with those changes if they don't suit me. I'll find another mountain that makes the grade for me. I wish Camelback all the best and all other Poke mountain resorts the same. Without them, we'd be screwed for local skiing/boarding. PRAY FOR SNOW...or at least 31 degrees!!!!!!!!
  20. Good point, I didn't realize it was this late already.
  21. Webcam shot shows lites are on but nobody's home...........
  22. you nailed it, they'll throw the season passholder party and let them drink and eat themselves into a stupor and they'll forget the shortcomings. Been there, done that, it's pretty funny to watch
  23. I thought they were putting the new water park indoors in the new swanky hotel/timeshare by the Stevenson lift. That just an open area, no slope-age will be sacrificed. I did hear last year after the new owners took over (and did a great job keeping snow on the slopes) that they would eventually expand and open more runs on the Cliffhanger side of the mountain. Just a rumor......
