Any idea when Xanadu will open? I need to make turns. Maybe Mt Hood - By now they should have dug out the Palmer Chair. Or maybe Bariloche (Argentina) or Chapelco.

probably not this year to South America - maybe Treble Cone or the Remarkables in New Zealand. An awfully long plane ride.

It's wrong to send any of our snowmaking to Mt Snow. Should stay right where it is. Also, clear the rocks out of the area between Challenge and East Mtn where it goes under the East Mtn lift. stick some snow below River Shot so you can ski right down to the river (and walk back up of course!). Lower the price (just some) of some of the cafeteria food. Build a sundeck at the bottom near the two triple lifts.

Yup looks like they filmed for at least a month. They did a reality TV show about their Ski Patrol. I heard it will air in November.

skiied at CB yesterday and it was real nice. Will buy my season pass there next year or sooner!!

You do make a good point - however - my .02: I would think that JF would want to engage a long term strategy to both attract future season pass holders, and remain competitive in a difficult, at best - "flat" market. Blowing snow on closing day is just an illustrative example of a long term "perception" issue. Cleaning up the woods so you can ride/ski them without wrecking your equipment is a good thing. Ditto with appealling to a younger market, aggressive group sales etc. JFBB doesn't have big vertical, so it's the "extras" that would seperate JFBB from Sno, Blue, Elk, and others. Thanks,

"that mountain" makes a hefty profit year after year. Their business people are astute enough to realize that perception = reality in the minds of their customer base. The fact that they had a couple of guns lit up on closing day was simply a calculated business decision that supported a very positive perception.

Went to Blue yesterday afternoon - the blew snow all over and the coverage is great - much more of a base than other mountains. They could easily stay open into April if the $$$ was there

the incentive is to provide optimal skiing conditions for customers so that they buy season passes next year - or - at least come back again - in March. I was at "another mountain" on closing and they had the snow guns on nearest the lodge and the parking lot just to show patrons that they would blow at every chance.

Maybe it doesn't make economic sense for those who think short term only. but November 10th - May 10th. Could you imagine the publicity that a 6 month season in the mid atlantic region would generate? And the impact on future season pass sales? Group Sales? Limit the days open to weekends only, Limit the parks and trails to two or three. And advertise a 6 months season on the Northeast Extension for all to see!

the surface in the rain is great. don't touch the lift bar - or bring extra gloves. I was at Blue in the rain last night and it was excellent - got off about 10 good runs before my ass was soaked. Park was rad too! Yeah - keep yer goggles down.

you're right a 6 month ski season is totally unheard of for a mid atlantic ski area. Maybe for places up north like Jay or Wildcat or Tremblant. Could you imagine the publicity if they could actually pull this off? November 10th to May 10th - RAD!!! I'm looking at 1 million vert this year so this would pretty much guarrantee it!!

How long do you think BB will stay open? I'm hearing late May if the snow stays is this true

Does anyone know what the Resort Ambassodors do? Is this an easier job than National Patrol? I just see them skiing.

you mean like a park ranger? as in outside all the time dude. maybe next year i'll try to become one of those national ski patrollers and stay out all season get lots of vert too. i think Jack has some that are not national patrollers but you may as well take the tests and do it right

maybe next year. i wouldnt mind being a member of the National Ski Patrol - those are the dudes that know their stuff.
