  1. Hey all

Got to Camelback today a little after 11. I called first because it was windy and I wanted to make sure the lifts were running. They said yes so I made my way over there. Booted up, walked into the welcome center to get my ticket. I thought I heard someone mention that they will be open until April 6th...so I asked the lady behind the counter and she said that they will in fact be open until April 6th. My jaw nearly dropped to the floor. This also makes me a bit angry that Jack Frost easily could have done the same. Yes I know BB opened on 11-10 and I know BB is still open (on weekends only) but I didn't purchase a JFBB pass to ski at BB. Anyway thats for another thread...onto the TR...

Made my way up the Sullivan and took my first run on the Rocket. The base near the lift as well as the top is getting really thin. The trails themselves still have good cover. Conditons were fast mashed potatoes all over the Mt, a typical spring day. After the Rocket I headed to the East side and did laps on Phaoroe (sp?) and Cliffhanger. Cliffhanger really didn't have any icy spots today as yesterday it was full of ice. Cliffy was easily the run of the day. Nile Mile had a "Thin Cover" sign at the entrance so I stayed of it. After a number of laps off the the Stevenson I made my way back to the West side. The entrance to the Stevenson quad was becoming straight slush and water. The crossover trails are also really thin and the ground was starting to appear in spots. I did laps on Margies, Rocket, The Hump and just after 1 the snow was becoming really grabby and slow especially on the run outs...plus a snowsnake got me on The Rocket so I called it a day.

Overall a great spring day at CB. There is still lots of snow in spots but there are also real thin / sketchy areas as well. If they push it around and the weather cooperates they should have no problem making it until the 6th...and props to them if that does happen. That would be sweet. :clap

  2. skiied at CB yesterday and it was real nice. Will buy my season pass there next year or sooner!!

I'm looking to get a mid week pass at CB and I kept my regular pass at JF. I've actually been impressed with the amount of snow and the conditions at CB.

Wow...it looks like the offer to other mt. pass holders is working. Right now I'm still looking at a mid week only to JFBB

  3. Perfect spring skiing day today...warm temps, blue skies and mashed potatoes / corn. Today was a lot of fun. I did about 22 runs all over the Mt but Cliffhanger was great today...yes there was lots of ice on it but I was getting good speed and getting air off the bottom of the run which was fun. The snow's getting sketchy in spots especially on Nile Mile and the crossover trails like julies Ceaser etc. but still lots of coverage for the most part. Get out there while you can.

  4. $40 for Elk...free at CB :confused .

I like Elk more than CB....but for $40 more plus the extra gas it may not be worth it. A discount would have been nice.

  5. Seriously...any word on Elk discounts this week. I didn't see anything on the site and I want to possibly head up this week but I dont think I want to shell out $40.

  6. Good snow on saturday - where to get my season pass next season??

    Are you leaving Jack Frost?

    I skied. I ate lunch. I skied more. They closed :( .

Did you at least get the cheese fries? It's really sad that they're closed...and what's really annoyng is that it's about 28 degress outside right now. Bigdaddyk are you going to be at CB all next week? I should be there tues, wed and maybe Thurs. I want to throw a day at Elk in there if I can.

  7. TR for 3-21-08...

Well I'm back from my last day of the season at Jack Frost. I was a little sad riding the East Mt. lift today knowing that it would be the last time for 7 or 8 months. They did lose a lot of snow over the past week but they could easily go another week especially with the forecast but that's a discussion for another thread...

I pulled up into the lot around 9:50am to sunny skies and fairly strong winds. I booted up, got my ticket and hit the snow. The snow was a smooth groomed granular surface, fast and fun to carve....really nice shape for this time of year. I hit Thunderbolt and noticed right away that the wind would be a factor as it slowed me down a good bit. Headed over to East and did a number of laps on River Shot and a few on Floyds. Floyds once again was ice free...a rarity. While riding the East Mt lift I relived a bunch of good memories from this season. After spending a good amt of time on East Mt I rode the lift one final time then hit Challenge for a run then Thunderbolt 2 or 3 more times before sadly calling it a day.

The place was fairly busy with a good amont of rippers on the hill. And again there was plenty of snow. I don't think another week would kill them but oh well. Thank you Jack Frost for excellent conditions this season, great grooming...and letting us ski all over the mountain. :rock

  8. i heard that they didn't have enough interest fro people to rationalize building them right away. i don't know the truth behind that, but its just what i heard. i have a feeling that things like that will start to pop up a little more with the new ownership and the trend towards making PA mountains more of a 'year-round resort'

I wasn't big on the quarter share thing. I wouldn't mind owning one outright and living in it, besides even in the offseason there's plenty to do in the area. Jim Thorpe and the Lehigh Gorge are 20 minutes away and the App. trail is just up the mountain.

  9. The Main street chair is really slow...and they're only opening one new trail...lets hope it opens next season..it was supposed to open in 06-07 along with the new condos..

    It's raining..and I want to ski after work today..I'll see..maybe just a quick session..

What's up with those condos? I remember they had those flyers all over the lodges saying the condos and all this other stuff was coming. Is that still happening?

  10. Today was a really good day. I woke up early to go to CB and the wind was calm at my house. The closer I got to Lake Harmony, the windier it go. I was concerned about the quads being shut down, so I called CB. I was right, they were on hold, so I got off at the Lake Harmony exit from 80 and went to JF. It was 24 degrees and windy, which made it feel colder, but the sun was out and helped out. I spent most of the day lapping East Mt. until 12:30, then went back and did a few laps on Exhibition. When the wind died down, I left at 1:30 and went to CB. It was 5 degrees warmer at CB and that really made a HUGE difference. The snow was a lot heavier and wetter than at JF. I floated around and found that cliff was the best, so I did a bunch of laps on that and raceway.

uhh..you were lapping East Mt. @ 12:30  ...had I known I would have looked for you. We must have crossed paths all day long.
