  1. Thanks for the report.. A couple of things. Lol...I said the same thing the other week about the Billboard. That isn't our fault. We stopped advertising on that sign a year or so ago and I guess the ad agency can't find anyone to take the space, hence the 'Cove still being there. We've had much more success with the regional and in town electronic billboards than those huge ones on the Interstate anyway, so we're sticking with what works. The park..no, Dom is still there and the locals have said it is a 100% improvevment over last year. It's not Boulder, nor is it going to be and Dom has the crew working half shift slopeside, the other half in the shop repairing, decking amd grinding/painting the stuff that has been neglected over the years. It's a slow process, but making progress. He felt, and so do I that it was better to start at the bottom of the slope and work upward, getting smaller features put in and going from there. Have some faith. Rome wasn't built in a day, and I will admit the park was a disater the past few years and it's going to take a while to get it back in shape. We found so many features that were just written off that are usuable we could probably spend the rest of the season and half the Summer rebuilding all of this stuff. We have that much! Our numbers as far as attendance are way up, so once again I don't know why you would think we're failing in the market. We had a total of 21 school groups this weekend..a few buses, and..a lot of our bus traffic comes from Philly, Maryland, ect..and I looked at the group list right now for this upcoming weekend...all I can say is a lot is heading here, and bypassing a lot of resorts to get here, so..we must be doing something right. However, I like the idea of MMR radio...we were using a Philly based web travel agent last season..and it worked, but maybe this is something else to try. The bottom to top lift would work IF we can get enough snow....and cold... in the beginning of the season so we can open the 2 main slopes up on the left...Runaway & Fast Track. Everyone knows those slopes are the widest slopes of all resorts in the region..and probably the longest. For us to make snow up there exclusivly we would have to transfer all the water and power to just cover those 2, which sadly we can't do because we can cover the rest of the mountain, or at least enough to open for the general public with the resourses we would use for just 2 slopes. One thing that did help yesterday was the connection trail at the base of the Iron Horse Lift opened to Lower Runaway and the bottom of the mountain. As far as me...I personally walked 17.4 miles in two days, taking pics, talking to customers...helping with lifts..whatever needed to be done. On our facebook we have a multitude of deals going, and on the site as well...the line that formed in front of the ticket window for the "4 for $50" deal at 4pm Saturday went all the way up past the rental building and half way up the service road..so..that is being appreciated and of course our $10 Tuesday kicks in tomorrow. Also, our "First Tracks" idea was a hit, the Northface opening to Season Pass holders at 8:am on weekends...had a good sized early crowd for that on Sunday. 2. Another deal..just handed down a minute ago: Extend the weekend! Buy any Saturday or Sunday Lift ticket and get all day on MONDAY for $10!! Also, don't leave all the picture taking to me guys! Send your pic in on Twitter for our web site Home Page at @skisnomountain
  3. Shameless plug from the website: The NORTHFACE is 100% OPEN! Enjoy the First Friday of January at Snö! Today we will be open until 10pm…and WHITE LIGHTNING is NOW OPEN! Open trails include Smoke, Boomer, Cannonball, Whistler w/Terrain Park, Mainline, Limited, Connection, and Nordic. Switch and Highball will open today, along with the Shuttle Lift. As of this morning we have been making snow for almost 62 hours straight, and we’ll continue as long as temps permit. Today’s conditions are AMAZING thanks to our awesome snow making crew! We also hope to open the snowtubing park soon! Keep Thinking Snö!!!
  4. Long ago I rode that Alpine Slide at Montage (peices of it still exist in the woods I think), and did exactly that...flew out of the thing...hurt, but back in the '80's we wern't sue happy like today. Just got up, got laughed at..and headed for another run.
  5. We should be damnned close to 100% Saturday...the only thing that might not be open is Upper Fast Track & Upper Runaway/Glades....everything else is a go.
  6. We are now officially known as "Sno Mountain at Montage"...possibly "Montage Mountain Resort" in the near future...all depends.....
  7. Finally get a chance to sit down here and let everyone know how we did this past weekend...I know someone posted a trip report...thanks for that, just let me add to it and cover some of the daily deals we have going on all season now. First of all opening day went off real well....had a great crowd...my pics that I'll post a link to will attest to that..and I'm sure the $30 all day lift / All passes accepted helped a great deal. Granted we were down a few slopes than what we wanted but we did pretty good all things considered. Yep, Terrain Park was a little small but considering what snow we had to work with before we opened I'd say we did pretty decent. Saturday...best thing that ever happened was that snow storm and the way it stuck around longer than it was supposed to..and it really didn't diminish the crowds all that much. Sunday...pretty much a copy of Saturday..just a good crowd. New Years Day, a Tuesday, in hindsight we should have run the $10 Tuesday deal....we will next time...but, meh...with it being NYD I guess everyone stayed home and nursed the hangovers and watched football. We've been blowing snow, like everyone else I'm sure, like crazy and as of this weekend the only thing that might not be open is Upper Fast Track & Upper Runaway..and Tubing...everything else is a go, Shuttle Lift, White Lightning..all the Northface...LH will open if we get coverage on the Upper Left of the mountain.....terrain park getting done over and more features being added as I type this. Some deals you may all be interested in: Mountain Mondays: Present any 2012-2013 lift ticket from another ski resort at our ticket windows, and get 50% off any Snö Mountain lift ticket! 8. Not opening because we needed one more good day of either snowmaking, or in this case ..a snow storm.
  9. Just pushed it back one day to Friday...with this storm coming it will give us more time to get more slopes open.
  10. Tentative 8:30 to 10pm...I'll have rates as soon as I get them.
  11. ^ Yeah ok..read the date and I don't think our weather guy would run an outdated 2 year old map. Regardless...our guns are on..we're blasting the hell out of the Northface along with Mainline, Whistler, Connection...bunny slope...pushing the pumps and guns as hard as they will go...I'll have an opening day post hopefully later today.
  12. ^ We did...we had them pretty well covered but once again the moderation in temps, and this friggin' rain has things pushed back. The night temps from Friday on look real good and we're set to start blowing again as soon as we can, but I don't hold much hope for this weekend. Depressing already. Granted it's good for the bike shop business but not for ski resorts...
  13. Got this from our weather guy who feeds me info for the facebook page. The guy has been dead on accurate, I hope the streak continues. He's not the TV style weatherman either. Spread it around and let's hope he's right...would be a great thing for all of us. Oh crap...the file didn't attach...let me post it up seperatly.
  14. Your opinion. Thank you
  15. ^ Yeah, and it costs a bomb to make one with guns. ..... rather we use our resourses on other things.
  16. ^ I know..and I appreciate all of your input, as I have said in the past. Didn't want to get involved in the myriad of speculation and accusations while we were working thru this issue. I figured the moment we turned lights and guns on that that would prove our position to everyone. It did. As far as the park, I've said in the past, we are more than just a park related mountain, but the park crew is completely under my supervision, and I have seen the 3 people I have working atm get more done in 3 days than I have seen the crew get done all of last season. Doesn't say much for us last year, does it? Yeah, we sucked, I'll say it. Not anymore. We have a good crew, and a dedicated staff. I can count on 2 fingers people that have left us over this, others have faith in what we are doing and the progress being made. I'll keep you informed more now that I can concentrate more on actual activities.
  17. ^Better than you think...lets leave it at that...figure opening day, weather Gods permitting..should be next weekend.
  18. Never happened..and...I don't quit.
  19. Last few weeks have been busy, and not just at Sno..I have my own bike shop that is in the middle of Xmas season...that alone has me pulling hair out.
  20. Done I have no ego to damage, and thanks for the concern about the park. We have currently 16 features, some of which have not been set in years..completely rebuilt...with more on the way. Dom is also using more snow jumps instead of a few big ones, and yes..we have the 16' Zaugg out of storage. We get enough natural snow..we'll use it.
  21. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151348940916138.529014.288781601137&type=1 To answer the multitude of questions in one shot, I'll encapsulate...we're opening and I look forward to seeing you at Sno Mountain.
  22. I'm here......and in a different occupation on the mountain. Sorry about the lack of response on my part, but being part of the management staff I can't speculate like in the past. Don't worry, I still speak my mind as always. Things are looking good.
  23. I don't think he got what I said...he has that support.
