Since the season at Blue is over decided to use our ikon passes and head up to VT with my son for the weekend. Forecast was looking rough but I’d rather ski in shitty weather than look at it out the window. Was sprinkling off and on during the morning but not bad enough to need our ponchos. It has snowed 4-7” overnight but then turned to rain so the fresh snow was heavy but there was a lot of untracked pow, especially in the trees .
Skied mostly tree runs all day since they were such a a blast. Got WARM this afternoon when the sun came out and was classic spring skiing. Might have gotten a tan even. Run of the day was “sap line trees”, just a fun flowy shot through the trees off of the gate house lift.
My son is a terrible influence on me. He eggs me on to do jumps and daring things and of course I do it.
I think we’ll ski Killington tomorrow, maybe Pico.

Did you buy them that car so that everyone in front of them will drive the speed limit or lower and absolutley not blow through red lights or stop signs?
If so, that's a brilliant move and the best way to keep young drivers safe on the roads.
They need one of those magnetic police lights to throw on the top if they want to clear a path through traffic.

I looked it up, the closest Top Golf is in Philly. We should play hideaway hills sometime this summer. Also I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of Arizona snowbowl tomorrow!!! Enjoy your vacation..I had 16 calls on my personal line at work today from 12-3..it’s bananas.
They are building one in KOP. I had been wondering what the hell the giant poles were and then I saw a sign. Its right where I get off the turnpike when I'm driving home from Blue. Every time I've ever been to one its way too bro-ey and bachelor party type vibe. Only been in PHX and ABQ though.

Glad you mentioned this. Just bought mine yesterday and I'm always super anxious about the gate not opening.

I don’t even know when Easter is but it’s a good possibility for me and can play by ear based on weather since lodging is readily available last minute. Where are you going with your son? April 1 is one of my favorite holidays.
Probably sugarbush and killington. Definitely ikon places depending on conditions.

Just booked hotel for my son and I to ski in VT from 3/31 to 4/1. I’m hoping to do a long weekend the following weekend as well. Anybody interested in skiing with me in VT on Easter weekend?

So is it definitely the 19th then?

Great trip report! Thanks for sharing! I've had my eye on Revelstoke for a while, and I'm planning to make it happen in the next few years if I can get any other PASRs on board.

Those pictures are great! I wish I had outdoorsy parents and had active vacations growing up. Your kids are so lucky and are little rippers.
Thanks! They are definitely way better than I was at their age. Hopefully they have a lifelong hobby.

Nice report and how long did the hike take to get to the peak where all the flags are?
Thanks! It’s like 100 yards from the top of the lift if that. Takes about 2 minutes but I still get a little out of breath at 12,500.

Wrapped things up nicely on Friday, which was a beautiful sunny day. Started out with a nice long perfect groomer from the very top of lift 2 all the way down to the bottom of the backside. Perfect corduroy and no people so I could really let them run. Seas really hoping that the Kachina peak lift would open since it hadn’t run since Monday and there was fresh snow the past few days. My wish was granted at about 10:30 when I saw it was loading and I immediately hopped in line. I was probably about the 20th or so chair, and even though it was tracked up under the lift from patrol, i traversed out to the K chutes and was able to get an untouched foot or more of powder straight down K4. Brought my son up a couple times and brought my daughter up as well. Aside from a nice lunch at the Bavarian, I basically just skied Kachina peak all day in the sun and it was magical.
Back in Albuquerque now and heading back to PA tomorrow.

They ultimately reported 9 inches today but there were some very deep turns to be had on the mountain. First run I decided to get up to the top of lift 2 and I skied right under the lift and it was deep. Skied the what chutes and a bunch of steeps while waiting for the backside to open. Caught the rope drop on Hunziker bowl and it was very very nice. Snow started again at about 10 am and it dumped until about 2:45. Free refills were had all over and especially in the trees. Rare for me any more these days to do a bell to bell session but I skied hard all day with a short break to eat it was so good. Ran into my kids’ group a couple times and they were having a blast. Sadly tomorrow is my final day here.

Just got back from day 2 at Taos ski valley. Was super windy this morning and lifts were on hold until about 10 am. Dropped the kids at ski school and skied a couple runs with my wife and mom before I decided to ski some woods off the backside. After that took a 15 minute hike up highline ridge and traversed over past the tresckow ridge and twin trees chute to a rarely skied area called eagles nest. I had never found it before and I was up for an adventure. Found my way in there and was rewarded with an untouched powder line. Had a bratwurst for lunch and then skied some steep trees. After that took a hike up to west basin and broke my pole while whacking my boot to get the snow off. Skied a very nice Zdarsky (5th chute) and it was very weird not being able to pole plant on one side. Took lift 2 back up and saw my kids and instructor coming up 7a and I tagged along with them down longhorn which is a legendary Taos steep. Hoping it’s not too windy tomorrow then looks like a storm rolling in.

Had a nice first day at Taos Ski Valley. Kids are in ski school for the next 3 days so I skied a bunch with my wife and kids today. Was nice and sunny and about 3-4 inches of new snow to start. Kachina peak lift opened around lunchtime and we decided it was time to take my son up there. He skied Main Street to Nastar Chute and handled it great. Since that went well I could see he was ready for another extreme steep, Castor. Skied a lot of trees and groomers and all in all a great day. Got lots of pics of my son. Need to get the little son of a bitch to take some of me next time.
