    Opening?

I've always noticed humidity go down with the temp. ..... It also always seems to get really dry when it gets cold. Most of the cold here is brought by these bands of storms that push all the moisture (humidity) in front of them and once they pass the cold air follows with relatively low humidity. It's 1 AM and I'm tired so I could be wrong here...

    Snow at CB

<RANT> You know, CB could have opened this weekend. However there would be ten topics on here about how much CB opening day sucked because the conditions were horrible and blah blah blah. People just need to chill out and wait, it's just one week and you've been waiting for six months now. Seriously all everyone does is b*tch b*tch. Give them some time, I'm sure it's gonna be worth the wait. If you are that anxious pack your stuff up and go to Hunter or Killington. The invasions of people can be annoying. I try to avoid them cuz I don't wanna end up hurting anyone. People always think it's easy, take the quad (fall while getting on and off causing it to stop) and than sit in the middle of one of the trails because they are scared. Those people really piss me off and I always make sure they know it. When I started I practiced on the bunny hill till I was good enough not to do any of those things, when you have a lot of people in line and you cause the quad to stop you're really slowing things down and pissing people off. </RANT>

    Snow at CB

From RideCB by one of the admins: Here is an update on snowmaking and opening day?As of Today, the forecast is calling for mild temperatures through Thursday night (no snowmaking). The cold air is expected to arrive late Thursday night or Friday and should be cold enough to start up the snow guns again!! Most of the snow that has been made has been left in piles (not pushed out and groomed). Why do we do that? In the early season, we know that snowmaking will be interrupted with brief periods of mild temperatures (it stinks, but it is a fact that we deal with). By keeping the snow in piles, the snow can weather (sorry for the pun) the warm temperatures better (think refrigeration). The current warm temperatures have taken a small toll from the snow whales (piles of snow that look like the swimming mammals). Right now there is a ton of snow on the trails, but the snow still needs to be pushed out and groomed. The snow whales can?t be pushed out until the temperatures drop, otherwise the groomers will just spin in the super soft wet snow?making the snow melt much more quickly! CB won?t be opening this weekend. We will be taking a few extra days to grow the snow whales and wait for the cold temperatures to flatten the whales into a solid snow base, edge to edge and top to bottom! We will post on the message boards, web page and snow phone (800-233-8100) updates on snowmaking and opening day. Have patience, skiing and riding season is not far off. Get the boards ready, visualize your newest trick in the park, for the skiers?get your bindings checked! Think snow! For pictures of snow whales, check out todays "Pictures of the Day"

Really the best thing they could do is fall down so I can ollie over them. I actually did that once because some idiot was sitting down right after the bend on Pharaoh on the left side and by the time I saw him it was too late anyways. He reported me to patrol and I got written up or something (took my name down and stuff) and than had to watch that stupid safety video again Now come on, he is the one that should have been written up, as far as I'm concerned I saved his life and it was really the only thing I could do plus my instinct took over anyways.

Yea I don't know about that Cliffy connection. Depends on where they put it but I usually flying straight down that trail so it would really suck if a n00b got in my way... I feel bad for the kid already

    Snow at CB

Looks like starting Thursday night (hopefully) they should be able to make snow at least during the night as long as the forecast shows (right now till Dec 12). Hopefully this forecast won't change much. This is accuweather by the way. If this keeps up than we are going to have one amazing opening day with an awsome season to follow... I can't wait, I really wanna get a good number of runs in before I take off to Canada for a week of riding right after new years.

    Snow at CB

I'm pretty sure tonight is the last night of any major snowmaking untill next Thursday at the earliest (if the forecast is correct). I'm really starting to think 10th is gonna be the opening day, especially cuz the management seems to think that opening with more trails will be much better. I'm kind of going to agree with them on that one. As much as I would love to ride next weekend, I'm willing to wait and give them the benefit fo the doubt, especially seeing that they've been making very good improvements to the mountain and parks already. So hopefully this stuff won't melt that much during next week and than they'll start blowing a lot more and in 12-14 days we'll be pillaging CB

    Snow at CB

The started blowing last night around 10 I think, I was watching the cam (yes I know I'm a little obsessed) and saw 4 guys ride out the snowmobiles and start flipping switches. The next thing you know there is snow flying everywhere. Now they already have plethora (MAD vocab skills ) of snow so if the weather cooperates, 12/3 will be the opening day and not a bad one at that.
  16. HAHA that's CBs plan. Wait till the last possible minute to announce an opening day so that everyone all of a sudden "gets sick" and can't go to work

    Snow at CB

Yea you have a good point. What I've noticed at CB is that weather.com always shows temps that are a little higher than what actually happens and accuweather.com is usually better at getting the right forecast. Lets hope they can at least blow during the night through most of next week. It looks like Sunday is when things will get a little warm but than again any forecasts more than three days ahead are mostly guesstimating (like my sophisticated vocab? ) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Tannersville (18372). Sorry this is the camelback board so I figured it was self explanatory.
  19. Lets hope this happens If it does it would be a major boost for CB.

    Snow at CB

I dunno. Starting sunday it's suppose to get into the 50s high and mid 30s lows according to new accuweather. I hope it changes so thay can blow all through next week.
  21. I'm pretty sure tonight we'll see the start of it all With these high temps barelly getting above freezing in the next week, CB should be blowing almost 24 hours a day. I think they could easielly open the mountain by monday... I think they're gonna wait till they have very good coverage though.

^^^ Except our boards are not really made of plastic....
  23. CB will either open around thanksgiving with just OK coverage (very unlikely) Or wait till like Dec 10th and open with very good covarage and a bigger number of trails I'm betting on the second one.
