  1. Thanks volkl... nice name... lol I think we might just see everything except some of the expert stuff open by next weekend... should be a sweet winter in camel-land.
  2. LOL, good call line... Actually, i've got the Superspeeds at 175 and a set of Karmas at 169. The sweet spot on the Karmas is HUGE. They've got a hell of a lot of pop... don't let the ski fool ya either, they can fly... just not as stable at high speeds as my superspeeds
  3. Wow, I was gone too long and missed way too much. Just wait a second... this college aged guy is just wondering who's got a college aged sister... that teaches no less? lol... and in response to an earlier question- the superspeeds came out last year, and they're the fastest of the supersports. They've got more of a GS radius, but are still considered all-mtn. The Allstars replaced the 6-stars this year, and they have a much tighter radius. basically- Superspeeds- Balls out, long turns, stiff as hell, get in the back seat down the straights, let out a wicked yell for those poor people on the lift, dust some kid on rossi's, join the lift line, go up, wash, rinse, repeat. Allstar- Probably my next set of skis, more of a non street-legal slalom ski. They've got the new extended double grip, which allows them to have a lot of longitudinal flex, with a lot of torsional stiffness. They hold ice extremely well, and i wouldn't be surprised if you saw some high school slalom racers on these puppies... They turn on a dime, and are much more of a capable all mtn ski. Not bad in bumps either... So back to the college aged sister that can rip it up on the slopes... can I send her pictures? flowers? engagement ring maybe hehe later kiddies
  4. They're opening up near east tomorrow... slowly etching their way towards that side of the hill...
  5. Yeah, just wish we'd get sheetz here in jersey... I'd have to go to about 4 different places to get everything I get from Sheetz in one visit... In jersey I'd have to go to Taco Bell (Toxic Hell) for my fajitas, Dunkin Donuts for my bagel breakfast sandwich, Quick Check for a sub that doesn't even compare to a sheetz masterpiece on bread, and Wendy's for a burger that just isn't as good as the ones from Sheetz... This isn't even taking into account the fact the entertainment you can get at Sheetz late night... the people are definitely fun to watch... Oh yeah, and a couple of the girls at Sheetz by Blue Mtn. are worth looking at for the 5 minutes it takes my Shmagels, Shmuffins, and shwatever else i ordered to get made... And on the topic of the Meatball hoag with mayo, I agree- Try a meatball hoag with mayo, fried onions, lettuce and american cheese... its ashmazing... ok, I took the sh- thing a little too far there... forgive me
  6. Cool, lookin forward to it. anyone else who wants to hook up for some turns just let me know... PM me here, or IM me on AIM... I don't bite hard, I swear... lol holdin it down for jersey....
  7. Yeah schif... Sheetz really has the market cornered when it comes to the after-night-skiing-comatose, and the half-trashed-i-can't-see-straight-at-2 a.m. crowds... I think i might just end up changing my handle to schmagelracer... lol
  8. sounds awesome, let me know when a good time to catch up with ya is, and where you'll likely be, i'll make a point to find ya.
  9. Hey guys, just lookin for a few people to make some turns with this weekend at CB... anyone who wants to meet up just let me know... the only day that I know I'll be there is sunday... but fri and sat are strong possiblities
  10. Strong point Doug... yeah, I'm a big fan of the fajitaz and burgerz... I think next time i'm at Sheetz I'm going to buy a sweet pair of aviators to ski in... coolest sunglasses ever... nachos... good call though... very good call. I think i just found a weekly things to do... and another thing... probably the wrong area to be talking about it... but since we're talking about sheetz, why can't there be a sheetz on the way to camelback... thats all I want...
  11. yeah, only good wa-wa i've ever been to was down in vineland... lol. and just for the record, there's a wa-wa in bethlehem I think...
  12. actually, i guess I'll be spending some quality time with skimom this winter, since i enrolled in the masters program... looks to be a fun winter. hopefully I'll catch ya out there man.
  13. yeah, don't know what time you were there, but after night skiing around 10:15 it was a madhouse in there... You must be from south jersey, cause there aren't any wa-wa's up here that I'd be real happy to eat at...
  14. Thanks man, good info. Next step- who wants to make some turns this weekend? Anyone who wants in let me know
  15. Thanks ski, you raise a very valid point. Don't you think, though, that advanced skiers should be able to get at least something out of a group lesson if they choose to go that route? I don't expect to get as much out of a group as a private by any means, but last year at shawnee I got thrown in a group lesson with an 8 year old girl... Nothing against 8 year old girls, but there are things that a 23 year old male can do because of increased strength and endurance (and 20 years on skis) that an 8 year old girl simply cannot do. I'm only paying 25 bucks for a lesson... but the way I see it, if I can pick up one new piece of info its worth it...
  16. Alright, first of all, last night (Sunday) I had an awesome night at Blue. The mountain is in great shape for this early in the season (even though the quad went down for a bit). Nothing like bombing down Paradise and actually having enough room to get in some great turns. Only one thing got me on the ride home... I stopped at Sheetz (is there really any way to not stop at Sheetz?) and well, I watched an attendant proceed to pick up hot dogs that fell on the floor and NOT throw them out... Major dissapointment there... Oh well... hopefully she tossed them eventually, since it was a mad rush in there. Wow... did I just start a Sheetz thread? if I go crazy will you still call me superman?
  17. Hey guys, anyone know the instructors well at CB? I'm one of those people thats always looking for lessons even though I like to spend the last part of my day dusting anyone in a ski school jacket... I just run into the problem of finding teachers (like one I had last year at another un-named pocono ski area with a name that starts with S and ends with hawnee) that take your money for a lesson and then tell you at the of the lesson that I should just go through PSIA training to learn any more.... Please, if anyone knows a top level instructor at CB drop me the name... Also, anyone else have a set of Marker Piston 12's mounted on anything? I've got a pair on my Volkl Karmas and I was having a problem coming out way too soon. It wasn't fun ripping down Marjie's through the bumps and then realizing that it was my ski that just flew down the hill in front of me anyways, I took a look at them and there was a definite problem with the forward pressure. Just hoping I can give someone a heads up if they're having a problem too.
  18. Anyone have any info on when NASTAR is going to start up at Camelback this year? I'm hoping there is at least one insider here who can give me some dirt... Another thing... what genius decided not to groom anything? If anyone's up there this week and they spot some corduroy please let me know... 3 mountains, 2 states this week... fun times... See ya'll this weekend at CB... Jersey's takin over this year...
