Wow, I never knew about this deal. Is it season passes from any mountain that makes this work? Back when it was unlimited I'd have to say that it would make a Tanglwood season pass quite worth it haha.

I'm leaving early to try and get everything done to get on snow earlier. hope to see you guys.

I might have reacted strongly, and I apologized for that. Someone acted like I was an idiot for conveying information that I had previously gathered. So I stepped in for myself, and expressed my displeasure with that individual. I just felt like something should have been handled differently. That's all. I know how I handle my customers, and I hope businesses that I spend a considerable amount of money with would treat me the same way. Nothing more, nothing less. But, as I said, this is all taken care of and done with. It has been settled between Ross and I... as long as he feels so. As for now... my mountain's got 32 inches of fresh pow and they couldn't open today due to a state of emergency... soooo fresh poe tomorrow. Truth.

Look, I see that Ross works for CB's marketing team. But the number one rule in public relations is to tell the truth. CB's pass actually IS $799. I understand that. 2 weeks ago that very number was posted on CB's site. I know this because I was in the midst of shopping for a season pass for next year, and I was trying to get an idea of everyone's rates. I'm discussing this issue personally with Ross, and I want you all to know that it was a misunderstanding in the way things were typed. Personally, I feel the more prudent way of expressing your message, Ross, would have been to say, "Yes, the pass does retail for $800, but you should check out the specials we're running right now. The price of a season pass is only $480 right now, and you should take advantage of that before it ends March 31st." My main point here is that the public, especially those of us who are around ski resorts day in and day out, don't jump at all of the smoke and mirrors presented to us. Some of us, as I'm sure I'm not the only one, feel a bit insulted when resorts use these entry level marketing tactics on us. All I'm asking is for honesty. My current home mountain never does any of these things. The season pass is the same price all year 'round. I didn't buy a pass, so I buy tickets every time I go. I know half of the ticket window people, some instructors, patrollers, and some bartenders all by name. What's more, they know me by name. And I've only skied there about 10 times. Earning my patronage is quite easy. Just cut through the crap and give me the bottom line. I'll actually pay more for that. If CB's pass is 800 retail, but you intend on having it sell at 480, or 500, or 520 through various specials, just make the thing 550 all year, and I guarantee you'll sell more and avoid MUCH confusion.

Rossboy14- I don't know you, but I assume you work for CB. I have been away for a while, but I was a season pass holder for a few years at CB, and I defended CB endlessly for years, despite drawing the ire of a number of people on this board. Just ask the Blue guys how much crap they gave me about how I felt about CB. But this post from you has REALLY just pissed me off. You say "I don't know where you're getting your info from, but you're 320 off of the price." So, obviously the regular price is 800, which is what I said earlier in the thread and that you quoted. Furthermore, I find it absolutely absurd that if you work for a mountain you would go after a potential customer on a message board like that and insult not just my intelligence, but the intelligence of EVERYONE on here. Since I moved for a year I did not purchase a season pass anywhere this year. But you can be absolutely sure that when I DO purchase a season pass to a mountain next year it sure won't be Camelback. I have plenty of friends that ski the mountain there, and my original plans were to return to Camelback because I do enjoy the mountain a lot. Due to the fact that I buy my pass late, usually, I tend to have to pay full price, which I am fine with, and would have gladly done. You, however, have completely treated us all here like we are a bunch of morons who can't read. I know what the site said a couple weeks ago when I looked at the rates for season passes, and I know what it says now. The bottom line is that you've just cost Camelback my patronage. Shutting down lifts couldn't do it, poor grooming at times couldn't do it, long liftlines couldn't do it, horrible parking couldn't do it, but somehow you found a way. Congrats. I'd love it if you'd pass me your name so I could go ahead and go to customer service and tell them what kind of GEM they've got promoting their resort and their brand online to those who are most likely to purchase a season pass.

Justo, your level of education is refreshing. haha. You were up at the trade show? I wasn't there... but my buddy came home with a free pair of boots and a free pair of skis. Lucky bastard... must be nice to be the guy who does the purchasing.

LOL... yeah, I've kind of gone away from the whole "resort" feel at my home mountain. That's why I'm skiing mostly small (cheap) mountains with awesome employees that I know by name. Plus, with all my boot problems skiing larger mountains is really tough. The best day I will ever have skiing will be the first day I get to ski new boots next year.

Agreed about Ride bindings. The screw pattern on them sucks. They come loose all the time. Burton uses another pattern which doesn't allow the binding to turn on the board if the screws get a little bit loose.

Well Blue is right off of 78... which also runs into NYC... but the one thing I will say about blue is that it has more of an attraction to those who just want to ski and do nothing else. CB has the various properties, houses and resort-like attractions that those with "refined tastes" (I put that in quotes for a reason) tend to seek. Fact of the matter- a lot of real weens end up at CB, so I'm sure they close down quicker as to avoid lawsuits from those who aren't quite as ski-minded as those who go to Blue.

I'm not sure if its the ENTIRE line, but I know that the large majority of it is, with the exception of just a couple models. It definitely makes turn initiation easier, and who knows, maybe its the next "it" thing, like shaped skis were. I just can't really see high level skiers who ski hardpack adopting it so much. And at least you admit that blue wasn't the target market. haha. I know the back bowl at blue gets pretty intense, though All of this being said though... I'd love to have a pair of fatties strapped to my back if I was planning on skiing Tuck's anytime soon.

Yeah it has Doug. Too long. And Jeff, why do you need FIS legal skis? lol. For the record, mine WERE FIS legal when they were made haha. I believe they're still legal for masters, just not international competition. All i know now is that I'll have to bring them to keep up with you guys since you'll be on these surfboard sized skis lol And yes, I'm quite stoked to ski with you guys this weekend too

That's part of the joy of skiing. To each their own. And Jeff, congrats on the weight loss. I'm working on my own. All I gotta say is that my Nordica Dobermanns are 64mm in the waist (I think maybe 62 or 63) and they ride on rails. I'm trying to decide on an every day ski for next season... Its either going to be the Stockli Laser Cross Pros or the Head Peak 78's. I'm leaning towards the Heads. And I'm not really behind the times here. I just ski pretty specialized stuff. I don't travel out west. I race 1-2 days a week. If I get something other than race skis it'll be something a little fatter that can ski multiple turn shapes, hit bumps if I want to, and maneuver in the trees. I just don't have any need for something with a 25m radius.

Jeff isn't even really that skinny though. He's not fat, but he's a pretty big dude. Me, yeah, I'm pretty stocky. haha. but 5'9" isn't really short last time I checked... Damn you Jeff for starting this convo. You better be at Blue Sunday for some turns.

Of course camelback is going to have worse road conditions than blue. Camelback is located at a much higher elevation. Winds and other weather factors will be much stronger. That is an undeniable fact of nature. Take that into effect along with the fact that cback is 25 miles north of blue... and well you can make a pretty damn good case for the more brutal conditions at CB. For the record- Blue's base sits at about 475 feet above sea level. CB's base sits at about 1200 feet above sea level. Big difference. I also think that CB draws more people from NYC and the wealthier sections of NJ than Blue does. (this is beyond me, but its just the vibe I take from the mtn) Probably has something to do with the "resort" feel of CB as opposed to the "ski area" feel of Blue. Ok, rant over.

Just saying, those wide skis aren't as maneuverable on eastern snow. The Goats are great skis, but just not made for this stuff out here. As for rockered skis... yeah... I'm not a fan. Everyone is making them next year... and K2's entire line is rockered with the exception of a few models. Rocker is great in knee-deep powder, but the only reason to ski something rockered out here is if you need help turning or staying out of the back seat. I'm not saying you all should change your skis... just saying its a bit of overkill for 99% of the ski days in the east. Just my humble opinion, but Blue isn't exactly what they had in mind when they started making "big mountain" skis like those fatties you guys like to get on.

Damn buddy... those things are huge. Next year I'm thinking of taking a big step up for my freeride skis... to a 78mm waist, just so I have something for when its not boilerplate.

On your way there about 3 miles off of Route 78 in Whitehouse, NJ is Pelican Ski Shop. They generally have a pretty good staff for snowboarders. The end of season sale should be going on now. I know they have coupons online. That's off of exit 26 on Rt 78. And do NOT buy online for your first setup. You NEED to make sure the boots fit right. THey shouldn't match your street shoe size, as those will be too big. Do it right the first time, or you'll have to do it again REAL soon.

LOL, I had those Karma's for less than a season and I sold them. They were a nice ski, but just too much for the poconos. They had an 84mm waist I believe. I'm getting a new quiver for next season... but nothing that wide. No reason. Most of these fat skis don't have shovels any bigger than normal carvers, so they'll handle crud and sugar just as well. I dunno, you ski what you wanna ski. I know you and A-Jeff ski out west, so its not posing... I just wouldn't buy those skis considering I ski in the east. PS- Hey hot chick who's lurking.

Ahhh, its refreshing to see we all picked up right where we left off. Me? Gaper? You guys are the ones skiing fat skis in the poconos. lol. Thats not gaper-esque, but (even though I know you're not) it looks quite poseur-ish. haha. And come on Jeff... I'm not short and stocky. Just average height and stocky.

Wait, you mean when you powder ski and its ungroomed bumps form? And you have to ski small bumps??? OH NO!!!!!! What did they ever do before they had groomers???? Haha... legit powder skiing out here... schweeeeet. Icy bumps suck... but those nice soft powdery bumps are a wicked time.

Yeah, hopefully I can meet some of the guys I've never met. Unfortunately I don't have any PASR stickers on my race helmet, but I'm sure you'll have a few guys in tow Doug. Like I said, I'll be in my same red spyder jacket and my girl wears a magenta/purple north face jacket. I'll make sure I camp out at the top of the 6-er for a bit to try and find you.

Yeah, I'll be there pretty early since the council cup race registration includes a booter mountain breakfast. haha. We'll be in the top lodge but I'll definitely be looking out for you on the mountain doug. You still wear the same jacket? I think you were skiing on atomic supercrosses last time I saw you? EDIT: Oh yeah, it also includes free beers after. Well, not free, but they get a keg and we can have all we'd like. haha. Not a bad deal for 50 bucks- breakfast, lift ticket, race registration, beer. Love it.
