  1. After you mentioned them I researched them on line and everything you said is what they said. They sound very good for bumps and the interchangeable tongue for different flex is great. It was interesting that they are a new age redesign of a boot from the past. I did see some reviews that mentioned inferior buckles on new boots.

You can try my Harts anytime you like, just hit me up.

Bump skis will make a new skier out of you in the bumps.

Pretty much all the Olympians are now skiing ID Ones, along with Full Tilt boots.

Thank you for the offer. Are full tilt boots better than others in bumps or are they just the latest sponsor?

Got to blue at 7:40 and parked in Jeffs spot.  I was the only one in line for opening and got first (and only) civilian chair.  1st run was paradise and I could barely see.  Second run was night weaver.  Thanks to Jeff and toast, I didn't haul ass down it cause I knew features were coming.  The second half was a border cross course.  Kind of fun I thought.  Wanted to ride til 10 but left at 9:30 mainly cause I kept having to wring the water out of my gloves.  I had fun despite the weather.  I may have literally been the only paying customer there lol. There were a lot of race kids there cause it looked like both razors and night weaver were prepared for events that got cancelled

    props for braving the weather.

I for one welcome this thread's new Steezy Overlord!

Eaf, I wrote a post about the napkin that I thought was funny, but then I realized that if you don't really know me it sounded like I was being all "I'm kind of a big deal blah, blah I have all the napkins...."  So I corrected (in your view overcorrected; fair enough) by clarifying that I'm pretty plain-looking and old and was dressed in baggy ski gear, and am happily single, so it was pretty funny that a teenager would give me his number.

Whether something is funny to others is not up to me. I do my best. I think that post was an example of bad writing, which actually bothers me. It could have been shorter, clearer, and punchier. I'm annoyed about that.

Being single and plain-looking does not bother me. I am perfectly cheery, thankyouverymuch!

When you originally posted the napkin story,  my read was that you were seeing the humor in it, not the big deal blah, blah thing.

Those were good days. The amazing part, as I see it now, was that it was all going on not in some remote village in Siberia, but within Moscow city limits. It's like living in NYC and skiing in Central Park with school. IIRC we had a 5km race test at the end.

The buildings in Moscow with the twisty colorfull roofs are cool.

I went to middle school next to a bowling alley so we had bowling in gym and I'd come home smelling like cigarette smoke. In college I took bowling as my two phys ed requirements.

My brother took bowling in college too.

Yep, with a rifle behind my back, constantly on a watch out for bears.

Seriously though, skiing was part of regular physical education. Twice a week we were bringing skis to school and then instead of regular gym activities or running would circle in a park or ravine nearby. And those were 100% wood skis. Before the season's start we'd cover the bases with a tar like substance and would heat the entire ski over the oven to saturate the wood. Used it in place of wax. Nice smell too.

Nothing close to that in any of my gym classes, we did have crab soccer.

  8. Saturday morning's fog caused one skier to take quite an intense fall on challenge. He did not know there were bumps on skiers left, at about the half way point on the headwall he skied into the bumps at high speed, fell and bounced off of 2 or 3 of them then slid off the trail stopping just short of hitting one of the light poles. It was obvious by his movements that he had at  least knocked the wind out of himself. When we reached the top we told the lift attendant that he was laying down there. On the next trip up he was not there so hopefully he was unhurt. Worst crash I have seen in a long time. On a lighter note, the bumps on challenge, nightmare and main street were great. All but one of my trips down the hill were bump runs. Got me thinking about adding a set of mogul skis to my quiver, hmmm. Lots of fun skiing the bumps on nightmare then the skier cross track on dreamweaver in the same run.

Anybody gonna be at Blue tomorrow morning?  I'll be there for opening..could be a nice solid snowfall and comfortable temperatures combined with midweek crowds...I'm stoked!!!

Hope you get a bunch of fresh tomorrow, you will be like the powder whisperer with all the snow days at JH and now at Blue.

  10. 21 degrees in the valley to start the morning off at Blue today. I met up with Hayata and wife for an excellent morning of empty slopes and very good conditions, snow was good on all trails, except blue baumer glade which was hard and slick but I skied it twice anyway. Razors was closed for race practice and upper sidewinder was roped off for snow making. ROTD was Burma with great snow, took 2 runs on it, had the entire trail to ourselves for run 1, and 3 other skiers on it for run 2. There was a fresh coat on the main street bumps which was very nice for a few 3D snow laps. Nightmare and chute had freshly seeded bumps, and dreamweaver still had the skier cross course on it, with banked turns and jumps for our amusement. We finally scored the 6 pack red chair, we cheered but the attendant was unimpressed. Midweek days are awesome. Hope wednesdays storm is all snow. See yer thursday or friday morning.

Still snowing!!! Have to wait until 7:30 for the free breakfast at the hotel. Started eating Cheerios at 7:01 but got yelled at that breakfast doesn't start until 7:30. Told the dude I wanted to get an early start to get all the perder before everyone else, but he said no exceptions. I didnt actually get yelled at but I'm an entitled millenial special snowflake and I should be able to start breakfast early because I'm a VIP.

I am surprised by the 7:30 am breakfast start. The hotel manager must not understand that the first tracks are the best tracks. The couple of times I stayed at places that served breakfast, they started serving much earlier than 7:30. The important thing is that you are enjoying the trip.
