formica, not that durable especailly if u dont have coping, but it works well. Get scraps from Home Depot. Only use this stuff if your box isnt getting alot of use.

So far we've had good luck using Formica in Skier150's park from both durability and slidability standpoints. During a Jam that thing probably sees well over 100 slides, and it seems to be holding up fine. The one problem I noted the other day was that the material seems to be coming unglued a little bit from the box, but Skier150 said that when they glued it down, the air temperature wasn't really anywhere near where the directions called for, so that may have had something to do with it.

I use abs plastic and it works great. It is supposed to be used for a cutting board but u slide great and u never catch ur edge unless u suck and like to grind with ur edges. heres the link. I suggest using .25 because it is flexable enough to bend in any shape but sturdy enough for w/e.

  • 2 weeks later...

so i have my box all built and it looks really really nice but i still havent put anything on top of it .... does anyone know if plexiglass would work?

I would NOT recommend using plexiglass. its much softer than lexan and could catch your edges.

uhmw is definatly the best bet, but lexan is good also.
