  1. Many times the wax on the new skis is not even intended for the snow, it is just there to protect the base during shipping from the factory. Here are some other considerations: New Ski Tips
  2. Funny how I overlooked making that clear on my website... I accept PayPal and all major credit cards, as a matter of fact my credit card merchant system is PayPal Payments Pro. Once you checkout then fill in your name, etc., you choose PayPal, CC's or check. I pay all the service charges on transactions, not the customer. I will fix that - thanks! One last thing on the wax. My temperature ranges are actually broader than cited, the cited range is the sweet spot. This flexibility makes the wax very forgiving if you pick one and the weather changes or you just pick wrong. This flexibility is a great aid to new racers, parents and the like. It takes a lot of worry out of wax selection.
  3. The only thing is money is always a factor as well as personal ability and determination. (10 years ago...) My son won 1 trophy and that was fine for him, he knew he wasn't the best and actually didn't care so much about it. But he loved being part of the team and the race scene. In this case, although my son and another child are the same level they may wish to use different waxes. So I separate mine into three levels, basic (FluoroMax), advanced (T-Series) and ultimate (Hybrid) and let the parents decide how far they want to go. The system you use is what I suggest as an introduction to my system because it is simple. Anyway, this is a really good point and I have something along these lines written in my website (click DrD Suggests section). Take a look and give me more suggestions. Thanks, DrD
  4. OK, the new site is finally up! The new site has lots of new items, waxes, tools, etc. at low prices. You will also find tuning tips and waxing charts. Through October racewax is offering a 5% discount to forum members. The code for the discount is october. This is a storewide discount that is likely to be our most generous of the season. Enter the code when prompted at checkout. Racewax isn't just for racers; our fast waxes are cheap enough for people who want fun, speed, or big air! The new site has an orange and gray color scheme. If you see the old blue scheme, refresh your browser. If you still see the blue site, wait 12-24 hours, it may not have spread over the entire net at this point. Thanks PA SKIandRIDE!!
  5. I've tested cheaper ones and they fall apart with a lot of use, so I only sell (and use) Ski Man vises; they will last forever. I think my price is competitive, but if you can find a cheaper one, I'll match it and ship it priority for the lowest price I can. If I ship to PA, I have to charge tax. With tax, S&H and Boardstopper vise I can do $95, but if you can find I better price, I'll see what I can do.
  6. I had a crazy summer. Early on I entered an eBay / Entrepreneur Magazine contest, and WON! It was a business boost contest that gave me a free website and consulting on other business aspects. Part of it was a new logo (see my new avatar). I am close to finishing my new website; it will include many new products. It should be up in a week or two. Funny story... I will be in the November issue of the Mag and they sent out a New York City photographer to take pictures (we did them at Ski Liberty). Anyway, I said, "you must meet some big people in your job" and he replied, "I shot Donald Trump yesteday". So Trump then me... its OK to be number two sometimes According to the administrators, I should be able to generate discount codes that you will be able to use at checkout. More later...
  7. How many packs per box and how many warmers in a pack? Thanks.
  8. If you have tried hand/foot/body patch-type warmers, which manufacturer (brand name) do you think makes the best? Thanks! .
  9. If you do decide to epoxy it yourself, use a long curing epoxy (not the quick 5 minute stuff), the longer it takes to cure, the better/stronger the bond is.
  10. Buy a single tool base/side edge beveler ($20 - $40) and a blue diamond stone (70 mm) that fits in it and you will have sharp edges all year. I set mine in the beginning with the file, then put the file aside and use the diamond stone once per week to maintain it. This way you have them sharp whenever you want and you never have to pay the shops. I have had my tool for 10 years.
  11. The movie wax is for sale at: http://www.racewax.com/buydeal.html
  12. A crazy thing happened a few weeks ago. Dreamworks Pictures called asking for a wax display for a new picture called "Blades of Glory" starring Will Ferrell. The story was that Will was to crash into it. So I shipped them a bunch of stuff for the shoot and now they are sending it back. I won't know to what extent racewax.com will be shown until it is released. Here's the deal. I sent up lots of my basic hydro warm and cold wax that I mostly sell as a conditioning and cleaning wax and, since it will be a little banged up, I plan to sell it cheap on my site. Racers like this stuff for conditioning and cleaning, but you can also ski on it, I advertise it this way as not to confuse it with the racing waxes that make up 95+% of my stock. So, since you're going to melt it anyway, who cares what it looks like, right? I'll put it up in my deals section this weekend. http://www.racewax.com/buydeal.html Thanks.
  13. All my brushes are high quality. They are either from Sun Valley Ski & Tool (mostly), Wintersteiger (a few), or FK-Tools (one). Next time I order from SVST, I will buy a couple and I'll post a note here. They are 2" x 4". The horsehair would sell for about $12.00. The other is a brass with a horsehair border. Thanks!
  14. I can't cut you a break on taxes sorry. I am a registered business in PA. Since you are all local though, I can spin a discount here or there and refund postage to help compensate.

    Base Cleaning

I have talked to the technical guys for ski manufacturers at trade shows and they all recommend hot-wax-scraping. No base cleaners, they said. (Yeah they talk like Yoda). For tips on this click here.
  16. I looked at mini brushes but they would cost basically the same as regular brushes. Would you pay the same for a smaller brush? My microfiber waxes over a moly wax base has taken trophies on dry snow. The microfibers are very durable as well. They are popular with Nordic skiers who say the skis are still fast after 42 km. Click here to read my feedback.
  17. I'll never pretend to know everything, but I'll tell you everything I know.
  18. It should have been my stuff, I recognize Ski999, he has been buying from me for awhile. Sometimes I wax my skis to test a product and I can't ski a tight line because they are too fast (I'm not a racer you may have just figured out). I'll drop a note when the site is up. I am adding new products and I need to get everything settled first before I create the second site.
  19. I sell pretty much everything, and if you don't see it, ask. I buy from Wintersteiger, SVST & FK-Tools (SKS) and can special order anything. Write for a quote on anything they sell that I don't carry; I can usually get you a good price. Oh, and I should point out, the waxes are all my formulations. I am a chemist by profession.
  20. Hi all! I plan to create a racewax.com discount site for forum members. It may not be up until the Fall, but if you need something now, and I can shave a bit off your purchase, just mention the forum when you buy and I will do what I can in the form of a PayPal refund.
  21. 100 gms? That's nothing, I always have to warn the service guys (plumbers, etc.) that come into my place so they don't go talking around town about the scales, buckets of white powder, and the 200 pound barrel of powder in the corner. I expect to get raided one day. Well, I was looking forward to posting here (just found this place last week), but I didn't think my first post would be on this topic
