Hi!
My friend went to a ski lodge for a few days and can't remember the name of it. I thought I'd post a few details about the lodge and see if anyone would recognize it.
The lodge does have day and night skiing, it has snowboarding, and it has a bar and from there a little ways you can ski down and it takes you right to the door.
Does that sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks!
It's definately Blue your talking about I think. Every ski area has a lodge but if you mean like a place to stay over night at the mountain than it wasn't Blue. It was probably Bear Creek I think they have on site lodgeing. As far as your description of the bar though I'd say its blue. Blue's bar is up on the hill a bit and it is a short ways to ski down to what I think your refering to the "door" as the archway you walk through where they scan your tickets.

I wish you guys would switch stuff up... the 3 box line is fun and all but it gets old after at least 3-4 weeks of riding it. Saw some rails being put into Rhodo so I'm pretty stoked on that. Hope you guys impress me haha.
Agreed but by all means don't remove the 3 flat boxes just move em around:) Everyone loves flat boxes.
I still don't understand why the progression park has its own new little trail behinde the Titan though.... The trail is flat and totally lacks transition, the flat boxes are completely burried I would consider them more of a booby trap in the snow rather than a good starter box to learn on they're impossible to boardslide because they're literally even with the snow level. I mean why not keep it where it was on the glade where the small half pipe still exists that is serviced by its own lift. The trail is now a total waste as it is identicle to the difficulty of meadows right next to it which can also be accessed from the meadows lift. I suppose you guys did it with intent of using the laurel glade trail for ski school but.... just dosn't make much sense to me so much room for features and theres already a half pipe on it waste!?

Nice photos! I think i seen you before while I was on the lift set up by the S-Box looked like you were pointing a sniper rifle at me until I rode past and seen it was a camera lol.

Its only supposed to get up to forty now so it shouldn't really be a problem. Oh theres some weird slopestlye thing happening, is this gonna make it really crowded?
The slopestyle is early in the morning and its in the park pretty fun competition to watch but it won't affect how crowded it gets, the park is serviced by its own park pass protected lift.
yes I'd go to Blue to avoid the crowds..haha I made the mistake of visiting blue for the first time two seasons ago on presidents day weekend, you could barely walk.

Uh oh...we have a security breach

I thought so I knew the name sounded familiar I actually seen that website in the past. I doubt they hav eto do avy control over there hehe. I have a similar setup in my backyard a few flatboxes and my own homemade snowmaking system for pre and late season.

The way MM is situated it traps moisture and essentially "wrings out" the clouds, dumping an insane amount of snow in a short period of time. Unfortunately, last weeks mixed precipitation has caused some snow instability requiring the use of some explosives to stabilize the snowpack for safe skiing and riding. MM is a privately owned and operated ski area, and is unfortunately, not lift serviced. Earning your own turns at MM is worth it.
Sounds pretty amazing. Is it an invite only type of hill or just a hidden stash spot people drive to?

Jeff likes to ride Mount Mikivitz..wow it's nice being on my fast internet..
They were closed doing bomb avalanche control if I read this thread again correctly....... In Pennsylvania?? I'm going to go insane thinking about this, GOOGLE FAILED ME!

Its supposed to be like 50 degrees in tannersville on saturday when I plan to ski camelback. Do you think I should re-schedule my trip due to the temps? Thanks
Honestly I would re-schedule your trip not because of the temp but because of how crowded I guarentee you it will be. Come up on a weekday and you'll have the place to yourself.

I was on the snow by 2:30pm because I had the afternoon off, so I wasn't in a rush to get up there. I only brought my PE's, which I haven't skied on for some time. It was weird being back on something 85mm wide after skiing my slalom and GS skis for the past two weeks. The snow wasn't that great, and there was almost 0 snow accumulating. 1/2 inch, maybe an inch at MOST at the top. Challenge was relatively smooth, some pebbly parts, but they didn't bother me on the PE's. I sampled Razors, Switchback, and Main Street. All three were a little chunky, but groomed smooth, so you could fly down them making super-g turns. I then hit Dreamweaver, which was the run of the day. No chunks, and nice grippy, smooth snow. I alternated between Challenge and Dreamweaver for the rest of my session which was exactly 2 hours long good for 14 runs. Not bad for a bonus day.
I pulled over on the side of the road when I got to the same elevation as Mount Mikovitti and there was over two feet of fresh! I was going to ski a few laps at Mount Mikovits, but they were doing avy control work
It must be the microclimate there.
2 feet of fresh.... What is this Mount Mikovits you speak of?

Been snowing lightly with large flakes since I woke up at 8am in Stroudsburg.

Got any cam runs down ONE Park? I'd like to see what they have set up on it this year only went up to boulder once so far this season for a night.
-
It was pretty hard today.
Nothing soft and mushy.
I expected mush. The temp was 38 degrees at noon.
Very nice fast riding and the snow storm started at 3PM.
I wore a boot cam all day so I'll post movies after editing later tonight.

You seem to favor your toe edge alot bro I couldn't help but tilt my head with the video lol. How does your camera mount on your boot?

Does CB have any days they offer a discount for college students? I checked their website and didn't see one but wasn't sure if they just didn't have it advertised.
I don't think so bro, they did away with alot of the ticket options this year. The best thing they have going is the Camelcard for $50 it's a pretty killer deal if you plan on going up a few times before the season ends.
-
I almost went to CB, but figured it would be scraped off and mushed around, so I went to BB, since they open at 3 and I got a late start.
It was actually totally dead tonight it was strange. Normally the mountains dead all day until the kids get out of school and they start to come up but not tonight. I suppose everyone else was hungover from Super Bowl Sunday. I'm sure boulders conditions were just as good if not better.

Very nice footage

I was at Camelback from 3-8 it started snowing before sundown pretty heavily until I left the conditions were great especially on the steeps. I see now they're calling for 1-3 hopfully we at least get 3.

It's not looking to promising anymore:(
-
Like 3 weeks ago when I went to Camel I arived at like 10. I waited for 24 minutes to get a lift ticket
I wouldn't doubt it. I went up at 3 today and it wasn't to bad I suppose everyone was leaving to watch the super bowl. I def wouldn't recommend anyone to visit CB on a Saturday its not worth the money but any time midweek its golden barely anyone there.

Obviously didn't pick the best rider to take a picture of:) Hey but if that dude has snow on the butt and rolls down the windows and can still make the gap I'd say it's built pretty well:)

Okay, So i wanna know what you people think about Burton... Because i've always thought they just seemed to expensive for not as good as performance as some of the other brands... but i could be wrong. so i want to know what you guys think.
To me the whole EST system or whatever seemes just like a ploy to get money, and i guess it'd be a little helpful but you have to get a WHOLE knew binding and board for it to be compatible. and i mean the burton vapor is like 1000 dollars. now come on dont you think thats a little over priced. and i read a couple reviews and the dude gave like 4 cons. and if i'm paying 1000 dollars i dont want any cons in my board. lol.
It just seems like there are other companies doing alot more for the sport of snowboarding without having the expensive price. So I just wanted to know what you guys thought about burtons performance and there prices compared to other brands.... cuz the only hardgood thing i've had of burtons is boots.. so i really dont know how they are...
I started out riding burton and up until two seasons ago thats all I rode. I bought one of their 2007 line and it chipped like crazy the topsheet fell apart pretty much and the board ended up dissapointing me so I went with a Rome next and swore I would never ride a burton product again. Since than I've bought a Ride board and I love it both boards have held up real well with minor damage. I also don't like the forward lean Burton bindings have even when you have the highback set as low as it goes as opposed to other brands.

I've been spoiled this season because I happen to have all my weekdays free to ride whenever I want. I went up to Camelback today at 4:30 and the crowds were insane I'd say 10-20 min lift lines for the quads and about a 5 min wait on the park lift and people everywhere. I know its to be expected but it's been awhile since I seen it but I'm just curious for future reference when I'm going to have to come up on weekends next season which mountain around here gets the least crowded on Saturdays. I know Camelback and Blue are probably the worst. What are the liftline waits on the top to bottom lifts on Saturdays like at your local mountain?
Camelback: 10-20 min

A mid season food price increase at Blue? Are you kidding me? Paid an extra 50 cents for a stale cheeseburger last night. When is the madness up there going to stop? When I mentioned it to the bartender, he said the health inspector was there and found a bunch of violations and maybe they were raising the prices to cover fines.
PS Blue...A plasma TV in a moldy smelling room with an empty beer fridge doesnt qualify as a VIP lounge.
Supply and demand my friend. If your gonna pay it they'll raise it kinda like gas price which helped spark an economic crisis. Bring your own food or take a drive for grub and come back.

I was there to and it wasn't to crowded but I didn't get there until 4pm. The conditions definately seems liked it was crazy crowded early in the day as most of the snow was scraped off to the sides that turned into pure sugar but it will still fun to ride.
