  1. Actually, no. As much as I love snow, I don't want a huge storm. They are too much of a pain to get around in, they close roads, and it's a bitch when you don't have off street parking. I prefer smaller storms. I also don't want a lot of rain. That's why I'm hoping we get brushed with snow and not dumped on or rained on.

    :slap::nono

  2. Were you there today? I'm working on building that into a 2-3 jump tabletop line with possibly a "junkyard" type park at the bottom. If you guys have ideas toss them out now!!!

Ya I was there for a few runs this morning but my boots were still wet from last night so I didn't stay long. The second jump is money but I definately liked the way the first one was before it was turned into a tabletop jump. The previous 3 jump line on turkey I think was perfect for people to get used to hitting em fast enough to clear and get that hang time feeling much more than tabletops. I think tabletops kinda let you speed check more and not worry about landing flat which is fine but the gap jumps prepped people for Rhodo much better. Wipe out those small wedges that make you land flat in the progression park and build a nice tabletop there:)

Just my opinion though I'm sure whatever gets built will be fun to ride, Upper moores is great! Love flat boxes. A nice fun long butter pad somewhere would be awesome too:) I'm definately not the best of riders out there so my views are mainly from a progression stand point.

  3. What I meant to convey was that last Friday am I saw NO boarders nor twin tippers in the "Rhodo-Oak Grove" terrain area, but they seemed to be EVERYWHERE else, exactly where I was. My point was, why block off that much of the mountain if it's not being used?

It's definately being used, you just don't see swarms of people comming down its actually pretty busy weekday nights. Reason being it may look empty everyones in a line on their way down taking turns hitting each feature stopping at each feature. Otherwise maybe the conditions were really bad that night because it was so warm during the day that people werent riding park?

The other noticeable effect that the park creates is less snowboard/twin tipper traffic on some of the higher travel easier trails (Birches, Julius Caesar, Meadows, Glade, etc.). The "Park" traffic seems to stay in the park once they get there. They don't have to ride all over the place, every run just to get there. It has made a big difference and should make those mentioned trails a little less intimidating for beginners.

Are you the ski patroller on a snowboard I seen hitting the turkey trot jump line and c-box from the lift on friday? :)

  4. First, thanx to the snow sport activity consumers from Blue for the "support". I'd often wondered over the items that were reported as stolen from cars in the parking lots; "operator error" (stupidity) seemed to explain some of them.

Second, I have further thoughts on this season's changes at C'back: many are aimed at not only increasing revenue, sometimes in an obvious way, sometimes not, but others are cost-cutters.

    1. By opening later in the am, some staff hours can go from full-time to part-time.

    2. Cameltop closed on weekdays  means less staff needed & perhaps more food sold at the base lodge.

    3. Open-to-close tickets only & hour later opening: perhaps people will stay longer & go in for lunch instead of going home when they are done for the morning.

    4. Is it just me, or are there fewer Rangers & Ski Patrol than in previous years?

    5. Food discount for pass holders might entice some to spend more money on the mountain, than going elsewhere.

Third, I wonder if the Open-to-Close tickets will produce an increase in accidents: "I've paid for this time & damn it, I'm going to ski for as long as I've paid for, even though I'm too tired or drunk to realize that I'm a danger."

Fourth, I will say that after being there today, the new management seems to be more interested (dedicated?) in making snow beyond what I have come to expect as "full coverage". This is a good thing.

Last, I do resent that about 1/3 of the mountain in closed to skiiers. Specifically, the Oak Grove - Turkey Trot - Moore's Ramble terrain area. It used to be an area that was a safe place for "families" & newbies. I was rather upset that this morning the whole area was UNUSED until about noon & then I only saw a few people in it.

Oh well, I gues we're going to have to get the mind set thate we are now skiing a "Destination Resort"!

The park pass lift and area really dosnt take that much away from camelbacks freeriding. Its for the safety of the familys even though they may not like it theres nothing more dangerous than a little kid sitting on the landing of a jump waiting or watching in the wrong spot for the kid and for the park rider. I consider it a big improvement for Camelback in quality of the park and safety for others.

  5. My advice is no, why mess with the structural integrity of your board? If you must go wider get a larger board or a different model thats set up to go wider. If you say you don't have the money for a new setup than you definately shouldn't do somthing to a nice board you already have to increase its chances on breaking forcing you to replcae it.

  6. Can you post the details on those jumps in the "3 jump line" in Turkey Trot?

    Thanks.

The 3 jump on turkey trot is slightly smaller than the 3 jump line on Love if you ride boulder. The lips arn't as verticle as Love they give you a bit more distance, def a real fun jump line and you can easily clear all 3 in one run if you don't stop.

  7. yeah maybe a tiny bit of speed for the last jump but you dont need anything for the first 2

I feel like a twit than, I must have been going alot slower than I thought I was. I know if I didn't speed check before it I would of been fine though I landed right on the knuckle thought I was gonna snap the nose of my board off. Like I said still learning the whole speed to gap thing, I'm so used to small forgiving table tops.

  8. you basically need 0 speed if that helps to tell you how big they are. idk, like biggest might be 17feet? someone get a god damn rope out to measure!

You definately need some speed for the last two at least the 2nd to last one. I knuckled it the first time I hit it because I hesitated a little and speed checked. Although I'm just starting to hit larger jumps such as these so I'm still getting the feel for judgeing speed to the size of the hit and quickly learning the faster the better.

  9. They should line the kids up and let every victim take a baseball bat to each of their knee caps than just let them lay there and think about what they did. I had a brand new board stolen once it's the worst feeling in the world it made me quit riding for a couple years of my teenage life out of disgust and lack of money to replace it.

  10. Camelback is ripping us off even more on monday. $1 more than sat or sun and 1 1/2 hrs less. mon hrs 9-9. sat sun 0830 - 10 pm. They must think we are really easy.

They're trying to keep weekend/holiday crowds down to a minimum for us locals, ya know?

  11. sounds sick. bunch of dudes i know are headin up this weekend. does cb offer discount tickets anywhere?

Not to my knowledge unless you ride there often. My friend bought this thing from them a Camelcard for $49 that gives you 50% off all weekday tickets and 25% off all weekend tickets. Just a heads up im sure you already know Camelback is a zoo on the weekends but the park shouldn't be to bad with the pass lift.

  12. I was only up there for a short while tonight and only lapped the park twice. Looks like they're in the process of doing what P-Architect was talking about in my last TR.

*Upper Moores: Flat Box set up much better than before when it was directly under the lift, Table Top, Butter Box, another Butter Box. Seems like theres still plenty of room to add another jib or two.

*Lower Moores: Option of down box or down flatbar rail, S box, hip jump.

*Turkey Trot: Nice 3 jump line and the long C box at the bottom.

Rhodo: Didn't ride down it tonight but dosn't look like they built the new jump line yet the 60 ft looks beautiful though.

  13. They might blow more. MLK weekend is coming up.

I think all the resorts in the area are gonna take advantage of the ridiculas cold spell. The colder it is the more snow they can make and with it being below zero it almost forces them to make powder which piles up like crazy. If they can make base snow during the day and the bitter overnight temps make masses of piles and layer it over the course of a week we could be riding into April

  14. I was up there real late March two seasons ago and it was amazing. Although I spent most of my time at Jay Peak and one day at Stowe both mountains had great covereage on trails and in the woods and it was all beautiful spring soft snow for the most part. We were going to check out Smuggs Notch while we were up there that trip but when we pulled up into the parking lot we seen bare spots and deicided to spend another day at Jay Peak.

  15. heard the last jump is going to be about 60 feet and should be open tommorow

Wow, it looked like it had a perfect lip to it. I thought they had it closed today because the snow conditions were rather slow, I was having a hard time clearing the second jump on Turkey Trot tonight. That would be sick though even though I wont be hittin a 60 footer any time soon:)

  16. No, he just bought it from me for super cheap.

That explains it, I used to ride only Burton but I've become to develope a passionate hate for their boards and bindings. I used to love them in the early 2000's but I bought their 2007 Shaun Whute a couple years ago and it fell apart on me top sheet was chipping like crazy and after trying a set of Rome bindings I've come to hate Burtons high backs on all of their models.
