  1. Haha, you beat me to it. This was going to be my post:

*** BREAKING NEWS ALERT FROM TANNERSVILLE ***

    Snowtubing Season Begins Friday

Associated Press, Tannersville. Camelback is excited to launch another Out-Of-This-World Snowtubing Season with Galactic Tubing, Friday November 24th 4:00PM-10:00PM. Mountain operations has concentrated all of the snow gun fleet capacity on the snowtubing hill throughout the past several cold nights, so all 42 lightning fast snowtubing lanes will be open. Season pass holders are welcome to head over after a fun filled day of skiing at Blue Mountain, Palmerton, on Black Friday, but not Saturday or Sunday. Come and enjoy the feeling of being a sitting duck in an uncontrolled and unstoppable rubber tube after standing in line for at least 30 minutes per run.

  2. Thanks for the info. Last year, I went to Elk on the Friday after the March superblizzard. The crowds weren't bad at all until around 11-12 pm. Then a line formed at the main lift near the lodge, so I moved over to the other lift and it was pretty empty most of the afternoon. The lines were never terribly long, and they moved pretty fast. It seemed that most people knew how to get on and off the lift, so stops were very minimal - compared to Camelback, where you'll average 3 stops per ride.

I may try going to Elk on a Sunday, since I'm stingy about using vacation time. Camelback turns into an absolute zoo on Saturdays and Sunday, and you'll easily have at least 100 people in both high-speed quad lines most of the day. I would never pay $67 for a weekend lift ticket to stand in that cluster, but I tolerate it since I have a season pass and a lot of time to kill.

At Elk we can usually get 10 runs in before the lines get too long, around 10:30 on weekends. But, that's ok we'll take another run and be in line for the bar opening at 11:00 ;-)

If conditions are really good we'll go back out around 12:15 for a few more runs until the lunch break crowds come back out, about 1:30----- then it's boots off and back to our reserved seats at the bar.

How bad are the crowds at Elk on weekends? Is it worth going? I went on a Friday last year and it was amazing, truly like skiing in Vermont. Considering a weekend or two this year, but not if I have to stand in line all day long.

Was that mostly on the lift that's in the front the Sullivan

Mostly both high speed lifts, but I think I used some of the slower lifts, like Old Bailey, once the New Jersey gapers flooded the lines on Sullivan & Stevenson.

That's crazy that 29 year olds get a discount at Camelback. How much was your pass after the discount?  Blue's pass was $449 back in February and includes the rest of the season as well

It's $399 ages 19-29, and $599 ages 30-64. I'm not sure if I'll qualify for next season, because technically I'll be 30 at the start of next season (birthday in May).

What age bracket gets you the discounted price of $449 for Blue? What is the regular rate for adults?

Stowe is the best in the east was my home mountain when I was in college. Just keep skiing new places and go out west sooner than later. Life is short.

Looking forward to Stowe. I was going to go back to Killington, but I agree that life's too short to ski the same mountains all the time. I definitely plan on heading west after skiing a few more mountains in Vermont.

Killington. Heading up to Stowe this year.
Otherwise, I've been to CB, Shawnee, BB, Blue, Eagle Rock, Montage, Elk, and Roundtop.

Did I ski with you one night at Blue last year?

I only went on Valentine's Day evening for the $14 special, but don't recall skiing with anyone. Were you there that night?

Enjoy being a newish skier. It's exciting when you feel improvement. I enjoy skiing but have become a bit jaded. Good to have you posting here. Post lots of reports this season.

Thanks. I'm interested to see if I've maxed out my ability, or if I can continue to improve this season. I taught myself how to ski fairly well without ever taking a lesson. Still suck on moguls though =\

I skied like 2.6 million vert in 66 days my senior year in high school. That's when my Blue sessions on weekends were like indiggios. 7:30am-5pm

whats the most days you skied in a season Saltyant and most days in a row??

i stopped keeping track of runs. Just keep track of days and am happy with weekends, ski trips and one or two nights a week plus every powder day and every warm day.

Nice stats! I'm nowhere near you. This is actually only my third season, but I became addicted really fast. I skiied 37 days last season... no idea how many days in a row. Usually go out Saturday and maybe Sunday, and then 1 or 2 days during the week.
