I always thought that Blue should invest in snow fences.  Stowe has them along their ridgeline. It’s a good way to catch blown away natural and manmade snow.  It’s a form of snow farming.

I remember some nice hidden glades at Stowe behind one of the fences. Been years since I’ve been there.

Blue, just turn off the guns when it’s windy.

looks like sidewinder is getting some treatment?

if so, i wonder how much of the snow isn't being blown into the woods

    and boy is it busy

Pretty windy, looks like it’s going into Allentown

Where did you mostly ski last season? I didn’t ski slow enough to notice all those things.  I do know freefall is about 5 GSS turns long.

Tough year Mom had Covid, heart attack, Mersa, kidney stones, and septic shock.
She’s still alive and turned 96 in November.

Bear creek once . II actually got out BC more than lift served.

  4. A couple observations about Freefall.

The East side was a fun traverse and zip in the trees and then drop to the edge of where the trail turns west.
There was like a small half pipe with bumps next to the snowgun towers . I found a couple rocks hiding , as the season progresses that’s going to be a cool place.
The last gun tower before the merge has a neat kicker jump with a drop off and safe spot to brake before the merge.
Lots of loitering by the merge.
I like the choice in fall lines, fun trail!

Unfortunately I didn’t make it up to Blue last year . My friend Paul said it was open last year after a big natural snowfall. They let it bump up and didn’t groom.

Kinda wondering what the big deal is because it’s got a new name ?

    Sat and Sun.

quad stopped a few times this morning… heard a lifty say it’s been stopping bc of the cold

I was in line when It did and all I could think of was the poor bastards  who got stuck in front of the snow guns.

Next run I shared a chair with one lol

    Glazed donut 😀

They absolutely pounded this place with snow. Night and day difference from last time.

Are they still using a chiller to cool the water before it goes into the distribution pipes? I remember an article somewhere that the system cools the water to 39f .

I’ve seen some pretty impressive snowmaking efforts  over the years.
Their  ponds are sizable as well.

This.  I know this isnt going to be the storm of the century, but it would be nice if they groomed right after close.

I had first tracks at Sugarloaf one year and the night before they groomed. 3” on top was awesome the next day! Closest thing to flying without being in the air !

The GPS stuff is terrible inaccurate.  I've done a radar-gun confirmed 70+ mph on Razors Edge but that was on a sheet of ice in the most aerodynamic tuck I could get into.  I laugh when people say they casually got to 60+ mph at Blue.

One of my BC runs years ago I did 40mph though the woods and back again.😖

    Nope

49mph top speed?  Did you accidentally have tracker on when driving on Blue mountain drive lol

Around Blue there seems to be a black hole that accelerates you to ludicrous speed. I've seen people claim 75 on razors edge ....No Bueno
