1/26 TR: The park on Spike was closed. The park on Mainline was pretty fun tho. Still in decent shape. Northface has been better.. but it wasn't bad. The snow quality was about average East Coast... which says alot about what Sno's been able to do..... when after torrential rain, the snow quality becomes "average". Bumps on White Lightning are gone. Understandable because icey groomers are always better than icey moguls. All trails (besides the big park) seem to be open, although I admit I didn't really explore the mountain to make sure. So the rain hit Sno hard.. but didn't really do any damage other than some firmer snow, and some thin spots.

Schif, if you're heading up tonight.. I'll be up there. Look for a dood with clothes so tight he looks like he's wearing girls clothes. (black jacket, white pants, red hat)
  3. Northface still f'n awesome. The snow is so good that you'll giggle. And please don't groom White Lightning. Those bumps are perfect. That is all.
  4. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice. I'm saying it's sincerely not needed, and would be just as excessive for that mountain and it's lack of crowds to invest in high-speed quads as it would be to invest in an extra lodge solely for snow tubers.
  5. ^ This. On a busy weekend day (when Blue has lines)... I wonder really, how many more runs if any you can get with a Blue high speed w/ lines vs a Sno old-school w/o lines
  6. On a busy weekend, I'd rather have no line, a slow lift, and a cold one from my coat pocket than sit in line, shuffle forward so the asshat in the next line over knows it's my turn to merge, get my board scratched up from the asshat behind me who's shuffling forward for the same reasons, watch as the ski school brats jump the line from their specialty entrance, and finally get to the front where they group me together with 3 nerds that have to bring up all the girls they've had in conversation because someone (who doesn't know them better) is listening......
  7. LOL, yeah.. let's name it.
  8. Personally, I hope they continue to concentrate on adding lights and trees before they go ahead with any major redesign of the tubing park, and adding an extra lodge. Needs before wants.
  9. Get 'Em 50 on sale today at 8:00 AM.
  10. Haha! I wish. That's Scranton, PA's 15-day. Hopefully it changes from now till then (we have a while).
  11. Friday, Jan 22 Rain Low: 33 °F High: 44 °F Saturday, Jan 23 Rain Low: 32 °F High: 44 °F Sunday, Jan 24 Periods of rain Low: 30 °F High: 43 °F Monday, Jan 25 Rain and freezing rain Low: 25 °F High: 39 °F Blech!!
  12. Word. Be it halfpipe, filled in w/ some evergreens... they really need to do something! It looks really bad. :\ But really though.. it's easy to find things wrong with the mountain because when Sno took over, SOOO much was wrong with it. Now they've fixed so many big things that I find myself complaining about such trivial stuff.. which is awesome.
  13. I agree.. I think they're doing an amazing job with the lighting. I think they're tackling their glaring problems quite well: 1.) Website 2.) Lighting 3.) Huge gap between Spike and Switch.
  14. I don't mean to get pushy.. but we're 1 day away from the start... so I'd like to get either full commitments, or just an idea on how interested/serious everyone here is.
  15. Bad news.. Dante is out because he has to drive 1h to and from work, and can't make the drive down to Blue... Stacey's out because lately her job has her living out of a hotel room all over the US... Bob got recruited by the fastest team up there (only a matter of time )... Mike can only make a few races and can't commit for the whole season.... I'm trying to remember who all was on our team last year... but what I'm getting at is I think the only ones left are me and Johnny. I heard there might be another team that has a few openings (not sure how many). So that leaves us with 2 options. 1.) We find out which teams are a couple peeps short and go free agents hoping to get picked up. 2.) We garner enough interest here (aka commitments) to fill up a roster and we keep the PASR team alive. 2. Brian (if we can get 3 more).
  16. Keep in mind Big Boulder rebranded themselves as Big Boulder PARK. They're one of the best parks on the East Coast. While I'd love to see Sno be on par with them.... I think it's better to compare and contrast Sno's park to Camelback's, Elk's, or even Blue's.
  17. Sorry I missed this. The Sno Mountain league's first race is tonight. I'll run into Bob, Stacey, and Dante there. I'll have a better idea on what's going on when I post later tonight.
  18. Yeah.. I think they're moving in the right direction, but the whole lights-on-top-of-telephone-poles thing isn't very effective.
  19. I've heard that it costs a redunkulous amount for electricity during the day.. so the majority of Sno's snow-blowing occurs evenings and over-night..... at least in the month of December.
  20. Is it more than 2-stories? Have you done it? From the vids on Youtube and such, it almost looks like it can vary depending on the snowpack. I donno.
  21. UFT open already? Awesome. The future weather forecast looks like real decent conditions for blowing alot. If Mother Nature doesn't help, the guns will.

No excuses! Dust those skis off!
  23. It was pretty cold up top, only made one run down Mainline via Iron Horse. But the park on Spike looked very sweet. The jumps were cleanly cut, and they had many rails and whatnot. Over on Mainline they had a bunch of smaller boxes and rails set up. I sped right past them because I was too cold to try any, heh. Northface was in great shape as usual. The snow was soft on White Lightning and Smoke. Boomer and Cannonball were almost as good. The long-trail side of the mountain wasn't open yet (Runaway and Fast-Track). The Lazy River covering is almost done, but they still have a small path you have to use to get from the Shuttle side to the Bunny Slope Lift side. Trees: They did plant a whole lot of trees. Bad news is this first batch of trees don't contribute to any wind-blockage on the top of the mountain. They're not trail separators either. Good news is they're really pretty. There are some on the side of the bunny slope near the wave pool and Tornado slide (you can see on the webcam). But the real nice ones are at the top of Phoebe. They have them decorated in blue lights and it just looks awesome. The Ski Corner Shop: It's tough to compare stock from one year to the next.. but I'm pretty sure their selection is much greater. Less "Sn
  24. Basically the way Nastar works is you get a professional skier to set the time of the course. Then in that same exact course you have reps from local mountains run that course and they compare times. Based on that.. the local reps (pace-setters) have their handicap set. EXAMPLE So then each night when the local mountain sets up a course.. the pace-setter will run the course and their handicap will apply just how slow or fast the course is. By the local pace-setter doing really well at the pacesetting trials.. that will make things easier for the average Joe at their local mountain because it'll be harder for the pace-setter to do equally well each time they set pace. It's confusing... and I might have done more harm than good trying to explain it. Just run Nastar a few times to get a feel for how their handicap system works and it'll make a little more sense.
