Metz dropped out, so there needs to be a specific topic for you guys. I pick Jeff, but 'Dude has a point. Doug's about as fast as you can get in a straight line.
-
So let's hear who everyone picks. There's no disrespect, since they are different skiers bringing different things to a NASTAR course.
-
You're just p*ssed that someone stood up to you. I hate bullies; someone picks on my friends and I'll get in their face. That's why we'll never get along.

Joe is just CB's version of Billy Kidd
-
Well, that's right. PARA is primarily for kids that ski weekends. There's also coaching available during the week, but very few kids come up. It's kind of hard to bitch about the lack of coaching and information if you limit yourself to only being there two days a week. A former CAT that is now at Waterville Valley Academy was at CB seven days a week and basically had Jack M. as a personal coach. Uh, so guess why she was accepted to WVA? You get what you put in. Rob, if you are a professional problem solver, why not diagnose the real problem? BTW, Skierforever is a dick.

She looks amazing, btw.

Hell no, Glenn beat me to it. I was Photoshopping out the Photoreflect... Just view source and look for this: </script> <table border="0"> <tr> <td><img name="photo" src="/scripts/prpv.dll?photo?s=0&i=20CD098N000011&p=099AFF3A74854A2AE5FD35764E0DFE8C01EDA6DBBB90B703AAB04F5B6311D460" width="400" height="264" border="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" onMouseDown="alert('This photo is copyrighted by Crystal Images')"></td> </tr> </table> Then add: http://www.photoreflect.com to the "src", so you get http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prpv.d...AB04F5B6311D460 And voila! PS: Only in theory, of course.

From an ASRA email re Tanglwood last season: "Registration is downstairs in the lodge from 8 to 8:45 - race at 10."
-
You don't have to be a member to race, but it does save a few dollars each time and you qualify for points toward your age class standings. Non-members are eligable for medals at each race. You can become a member on race day, but they ask that you download and print the membership form availabe at skiracer.com and have it filled out completely on that morning. Right now, both races at Tanglwood at GS's. I forget when registration is. 8am to 9am? That sounds right. It's always the same time at every race.

Great and wonderful news, Sib!

Suit yourself. But I believe the fastest and best way is the "correct way".

That's a decent set-up, Glenn, but Phil's right about the 150cm size. I'd go with 150's even if she's more than 160lbs... I can recommend the Atomic Balanze line...my wife moved into them after years of using hand-me-down junior race skis. The Balanze skis are 1/2 the weight of junior race skis and she loves them. She's capable of any black diamond, but is much happier tooling around on winding green circles at snail speed. She skis a 148cm ski and is 5'0" and about 95lbs. The Head in that link is very basic, including the "they work and are fine" bindings. They are a step below the Head Hot Thang and K2 One Luv, so I'd be a little concerned that they may chatter around a lot if she gets any speed. But if it means she has "her" skis and will get out more and that's what she wants to spend, then maybe they are a perfect fit in 150.

I thought you wrestled in high school, Rob. Four or five years ago, ESPN's "The Season" series featured the Iowa wrestling program. Did you happen to catch it? Instead of Bode Miller ghost written books, I'd prefer that as a program for kids to emulate.
-
Sh*t, MS, I'm not proud...I bow down to your display of n*ds for taking those blind launches all balls out. Just about anyone can point 'em down and go fast, but to do it in total wreckless fashion is an admireable trait. Adult midweek night tickets are only $22.
-
Hey, this couple is doing a smiley! from behind Agreed... and it's not just the air, but the speed MS and his buds ski with.
-
Excellent, shame it not a wider shot to see the hit too...but it's a bummer they caught on that their copyright security was beatable and put in the swirls.
-
IMO, most of the stuff Bode says is silly. Take away drug testing and equipment checks and all you'll have is massive cheating. But "brain wash regimine"? I'm honestly curious if you mean the fundamentals that all young racers need to learn, or something else? If you get a chance, watch a J3 race. That's an age where kids are at a turning point, still considered "children racers", but are starting to really get it. You see a really wide range of skiing ability at that age and I bet you'll see kids steering their waists through a turn, as well as kids keeping their hips going down the fall line. Why would any coach teach a slower method of skiing? When I teach hitting, I undo most everything a kid has learned from tv and their dads. Sure, great hitters have succeeded wagging their bat, or swinging at balls in the dirt like Vladimir Guerrero, but you increase a kid's chances if you give them the "brain wash regimine", AKA proper fundamentals, at an early age.

She's a foreigner...have to find her first.

Ha, or just a stupid chick?
-
It's also cool how you can see other peaks in different states from the summit on clear days. We could see WF from the Sugarbush summit, which has to be at least 60 miles away.
-
Why do you recommend them, Skitzo?
-
Oh, man, Rob, a big ass Hummer in a 'possible' handicapped parking spot is just screaming out to be keyed...but, yeah, Montage has a few administration spots next to the lodge, but employees park further than most 'guests'. When we had to be at CB every weekend, we always parked down by the Glen Lodge.
-
WF and Gore have to be to of the most under-rated and under-skied places...WF would DEF be a cool place to call your home mountain.
-
'Mom can probably relate...adult racers are constantly told at camps that they need to be their own best coach...this is what the coaches tell us over and over. It's a different learning process when you are 22 or 42, rather than 12. So we scramble around trying to find good tips and info, then hope we are applying them correctly. It's also complicated by the fact that if you are 'thinking' about it while racing, then you are going to be slower. Despite all the things we learn, race runs are supposed to be done on auto-drive, not concentrating on technique. Ever play baseball? If so, do you remember being in a batting slump? The more BP you take and the more you hunker down and fight you're way out of the slump, the worse it gets. I had a great tip from a coach last year: only work on one thing during each practice run.

Sorry to hear about Zaldon...but a great read, Glenn. Much better than a stranger's Ski Mag perspective. I imagine the Slides were closed?
