Their webcams look pretty solid. Base looks good, lots of snow, and a ton of guns going. They look in better shape than some of the New England areas.

its like skiing in Vermont, but with more snow.

Will be interesting to see what they have open for next week.  Looking at options for next week.  Not sure how they faired after the rain, but Bell was showing 1/2 their trails open before the rain.  that seemed like it was pretty good in the grand scheme of things considering this "winter" so far has been mostly some cold book ended by warm rain.

I think 3 years ago was the year we had only one weekend in the upper lot, 2nd weekend we were in the valley, and i think there was a decent snow storm that was really helpful for opening new trails with just a little snowmaking.

    am i right?

This is normal December weather for PA..and January as well.

Normal, probably.  worse than last year, yes.

I would love to see your encyclopedic knowledge of past ski seasons put down on a calendar view or something similar where we could look at a specific week and see how much terrain Blue had open for the same time period across multiple years.

Other than the year of 3 opening days, the last being in January, this year is going down as a second to that year, at least from what i can remember.  Last years opening -

    image.png.41f2f8b12a0db7c2eb8cc32bfe0e89e0.png

Around the 17th of December lazy, midway, and lower main opened.

Raceway opened right after christmas, and shortly after that Razors.

So, by Jan 1 there was at least all of main, razors, come around, falls was in there somewhere.

I think by Jan 1 this year, we wont see anything new open over what we have now.  the weather just isnt that good.  last year there was a big cold snap right before Christmas and into that week.

Some decent overnight temps, not spectacular, but hopefully enough to piece back the single track on Paradise to keep that in play, and refresh the balance.  Probably making paradise a thick single track layer is going to hold up better to 3" of rain than spreading that shit out.  They will be blowing on Razors for sure shortly.  hopefully upper main too.  i would say based on this they will be trying to lay down some famous Blue Mountain Gak most of the day Saturday.

Blue is charging $102 for a morning pass tomorrow and $115 for an 8 hours ticket.

Good.  well, i mean, $120 is a better number as far as i am concerned.

Agreed if they charge $40 they’d prob bring in a similar amount of revenue

This Xmas week is gonna be bonkers.  Would be a good time to travel somewhere but I want to be in the office a little and also places are crowded and expensive then.

Charge $40, make $XXXX.  FB "slopes are soooo crowded.  WTF"

Charge $102/$115, make $XXXX.  FB "OMG, no way im paying that for 3 trails....highway robbery.  im going to Big Boulder"

it just works out the same.

I believe that majority of the rain is supposed to be Sunday late afternoon or early evening.  Maybe we get the morning with 4pm closure?

Obviously hoping for the 4 pm closure.  Looking over all of the weather sites, i do think the morning would most likely be dry, but i think some are trending for it to come in sooner.  i didnt quite realize how much rain was gonna be associated with it until today.  Typical east coast fuckery in December.  cold, then as soon as some moisture shows up, it pisses warm rain.  then gets cold again.  this was our pattern last year.  we need to get out of it.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't think p dis or freefall is opening this weekend, at least not based on my observation from the quad this morning and GSS is right...razors will be gone after Sundays weather

damn.  i was really thinking paradise would be a lock after the amount of hours they put forth on the snowmaking this week.

the pic for upper is obviously a no go, but its hard to judge what the depth is on the last pic of paradise.  Maybe FF to paradise?

Oh, and in the other awesome news department, sundays weather is really starting to circle the drain.

My guess is closed Monday and then open daily

i thought i saw they posted they would be open daily starting today.  But, most likely closed on Monday, and then just open Tuesday for ice skating.

Based on the latest drone footage they posted a few hours ago, I would day Paradise and Coming Soon are a lock, unless it's a lot thinner than it looks. Obviously hard to judge depth from a drone flyover.

It looks like Upper Main didn't get the love. Maybe they needed the water for the sticks on tubing 3.

I feel like "the largest snowmaking system on the east" isnt always on full blast.  i mean, who really knows what 15,000 gpm can work as far as guns, but it seems like Killington with a smaller system, puts down more snow.  granted, they have better temps to work with.

But you would think they would be doing everything possible to get some shit going on Razors, for the spandex squad.

  10. Standard iphone app which is weather.com i believe, says 38.  Accuweather says 39.  Weather bug 39.  So, it looks pretty clear its above freezing.

Applauding the effort for sure, but they have to be making some low quality gak right about now.  better new is it looks like temps drop real quick as the sun sets.

Forecast for the next few days is so-so.  i mean, it could be worse.  Thurs night into friday looks to have the most significant window.  other nights are just a few hours, but im sure that will help refresh whats open.

Keep in mind, that last monday is Christmas.  I really hope we get some more open before then.  hopefully they go aggressive when they can turn the shit on.

going a little colder after Christmas.  hope it keeps up.  we really need a sustained cold though.
