K-Mart got hit hard with the freezing rain, but mount snow already has snow guns back on mid-mountain and reports says SR only turned them off for about an hour... Looks like that little warmup didnt do as much damage as the last one... Hopefully just one more to go before we are golden!!!

Thats way more snow than I expected... Beginner trail out of the valley lodge with onteora out of the upper... No superchief tomorrow, but good temps mean they should be able to expand decently by next weekend...

No Pics and still anticipating an opening day tomorrow... They could have snowmaking going by 5 tonight, but who knows what their current base looks like...

Doug, I'll be in NE the 6th-10th and the 20th-23rd touring around... Lots of traveling the first trip so I don't get bored (could even make it to Maine), but maybe more centralized in South Central VT the 20th-23rd... Hit me up if your in the area...

Well, looks like the Steeze machine pulled another weather forecast out of his ass... Warm air will mix with cold air and leave much of the northeast in a wintry mix for this next storm... Lets just hope colder weather filters in early next week and stays there... Unfortunately it looks like another mini warm front may come through...

Yeah, the lodging sucks... I think I posted earlier in another thread that they were cutting all these jobs... The bottom line is that they started blowing (wasting taxpayer money) several weeks ago... I am sure that this job cut idea didn't hit them blindsided up the head... At least the management... I am sure they will blow and be open for most of the season... I just want updates!!!

I'm just baffled of the lack of recent communication, not that they aren't blowing snow... When from decent communication to nothing...

I mean, I'm allergic to smoke, but it usually doesn't bother me too much to be around it... That being said, I go out of my way (within reason), not to be around it too often... I usually don't wait in liftlines since I usually board midweek, so it hasn't ever bothered me too often... I wouldn't have a problem banning it in liftlines since other people do have to stand around it, but I believe that common courtesy (asking your lift partner) if you can smoke, should be allowed... I think my biggest beef is that the majority of smokers throw their cig butts on the ground... Its just unsightly... I clean up hundreds of them at my complex even when a trash can and ash stash are right beside it... In the end, I will be interested to see how well it is enforced... Even if they had made designated smoking areas around the lodge it might have been better... I am usually against straight bans because they aren't logical and usually arent well enforced... I believe that you have a choice, and thats why I am ok with banning in a lift line, because its difficult to choose not to ski or to leave the liftline and still ski... But if your lift partner uses common sense and asks, or if they put in a designated smoking area, and your stupid enough to stand around or allow the lift partner to smoke, then its your own damn fault...

Storm looks to be coming through the NE on Friday... Haven't seen any accumulation estimates, so it could be 1-3, 6-12, or whatever...

I'm pretty "baffled" by this lack of recent information on catskill mountains... I'm guessing they will open the first weekend in December... Not terrible, but thats what the weather looks like...

Did Belleayre make any snow during this last cold stretch? They are having budget issues and just shrank their full time workforce from 55 full time to 10ish, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had waited... I just can't seem to get any confirmation either way... Hunter waited... I was surprised considering a Thanksgiving opening would be a bonus holiday for them and usually sees decent skier visits...
