  1. What???? You think a race boot is gonna help you beat me???? hahahahahaha. Seriously, DO NOT go to Nestors. Nice guys and all but they know jack about race boots. Call Brian at Buckman's or PJ Dewy at Racestock Sports in VT...
  2. Blah, blah, blah... You missed a great GS from the top of the hill rather than the headwall where we usually start and the slalom was just sick. Oh well, see ya in a couple of years
  3. RaceDad and I will be there! See you tomorrow!
  4. Yes, at the bar! Of note though, if you have not already signed up, you do soat the ski school.
  5. See you there Metzy! You know where to find me... At the BAR!
  6. Metz- It was great having you back on the race course! Of course you're gonna need to do it more often since I kicked your little butt which never woulda happen 2 years ago...
  7. I'm a Eurosock girl... Love 'em because they are super light weight and thin so fit well under tight race boots. Not sure if they would be good for boarding.
  8. It is mostly slalom training. The hill we train on, Raceway, is not really wide or steep enough to train GS on. Also, even when they try a GS set it is with breakaway poles. If you are at all aggressive I would minimally uses pole guards as mbike mentioned. Shin guards are also a big help. I do have a chin guard as well but didn't use it for the Tuesday night stuff mostly because I was always running late and never had time to attach it to my helmet. It is a VERY laid back format. You can get as much or as little coaching as you want. Some of us just ran the gates while others went off to do drills. It's pretty much up to you what you do. I would highly recomend this program!

14 seasons is a lot of racing especially at that level. I do love to watch him race but wouldn't blame him for retiring if that's what he's going to do.
  10. It was a great program. Good coaching, lots of nice people and a lot of fun!
  11. Bud Horner. Super nice guy. Known him for years. He's a Fischer rep in his spare time. He can really hook you up if you're looking for gear.
  12. Sounds like it was fun! I ended up working a little late and I had 3 pairs of skis to tune for the races this weekend so went home and got started on that...
  13. I might be there tonight. If I am, I'll be wearing a black jacket with a dragon on the back. Also, I'm really short. JIC there's someone else with a dragon jacket...
  14. @mbike-ski I just put the race in quotes because last year it was broken up into two groups (ability) and since conditions were just awful it wasn't a lot of actual race training. More advanced ski coaching with a nod to gate training. I'll see you next Tuesday! @Grilled I'm not on a race team and they only closed off Raceway for us so I'm pretty sure it's the same one. We did some training on Razors but not with real gates. And thanks! It's good to be here! @Johnny and mbike- You heard right. We meet at the bar! God I love ski racing :-) Anyway, last year I signed up the first night. You just go to the ski school, pay and sign the release. See you all next Tuesday!
  15. Is anyone from here doing the Tuesday night "race" training at Blue? I did it last year and it was very helpful even though the conditions were not great. The coaching staff is tops! I'm thinking about doing it again this year...
  16. The races this weekend at Tanglwood were great! After the GS on Saturday they pulled the course and set a slalom course for training. Did about 8 training runs which you just can't beat. And after the GS on Sunday they left the GS course up so we could keep running it and we did! So glad that Tanglwood is open again, it's always fun if not particularly challenging.

I've used that as a base layer for skiing and as my running pants for winter marathon training. It is absolutely worth the extra $$ in terms of performance and it wears well. I've had the same 3 pairs for about 4 seasons and they are still in great shape.
  18. There is an ASRA GS race tomorrow at Tanglwood Ski Area. They are open under new owners and I've heard they've redone the lodge and bar. To call Tanglwood small is probably an understatement but I've raced there for about 5 years and it's always a good race, epecially to start out the season. It's not much more challenging than a NASTAR set on Raceway at Blue but you still some good speed. There's also a rumor that conditions permitting they will set some slalom gates afterwards for gate bashing training! These races are open to the public so anyone can come out and race.
