  1. Yeah, well, I like my descent a little bit less linear, and speed under control, for those boarders are moving so unpredictably. Hate it when I suddenly run into a sitting party in the middle of the slope. So MX98 is out. I skied a women's version of Elan with the same technology. Shorter, softer, narrower. It did well on edges, was smoother than my SLs. Didn't really get a feeling of that Amphibio technology at all. And it's interesting how they've changed the story about the convex tails since the last time I've read about it. Then they said it's good so that the tails wouldn't catch. Now they're advertising it as a way to stabilize the vibrations by 30%. The woman's version also had only one layer of titanal. XTIs have two. Anyhow, anybody skied them at all?
  2. We can talk about lunch choices if that's more suitable. But not until the sale ends.
  3. How did you ski them? Or rather, what style of skiing are they lending themselves to?
  4. Then look straight at Stockli AX. Or Z90. Never discounted price. No need to time it.
  5. Actually, 84 will probably make more sense for me: http://www.powder7.com/Elan-Amphibio-84-XTi-Skis-176cm-New-Flat-2017/for-sale
  6. You mean MX98? Yeah, I've seen it. It will be too stiff and straight for me. Need something curvier.
  7. http://www.powder7.com/Elan-Amphibio-88-XTi-Skis-176cm-New-Flat-2017/for-sale and why! $350 until tomorrow. Flat.

    Head and Graphene

Oh wow. And I thought that Stockli with their turtle skin technology were the first to create something that's soft at slow speeds and stiff when you engage it. When I read your link I initially thought it was an april fool day article... Piezo electric fibers and auto-stiffening tails and tips. Passive graphene pales in comparison.
  9. Can we at least talk about mail brides here then?
  10. Beats "war with Russia" on all fronts.

    Head and Graphene

There is a lot of buzz about this light yet stiff Head Kore 93 and graphene as apparently the main contributor to the ski's unique properties. Most test reports are borderline irrational, the reviewers are saying that this unusually light ski achieves the same crud performance as much heavier (30-50%) skis, and are admitting that it goes against common sense. For me it's an exciting tech thing, almost like skiing on nano tubes, way cooler than the usual couple of layers of titanal plus some "3D Glass". I'm itching to try this! http://blistergearreview.com/gear-reviews/2017-2018-head-kore-93 http://www.skiessentials.com/2018-ski-test?skis=head-kore-93
  12. A price hike is coming??
  13. Are you now trying to flatter the true skiers here?? Pick a side already. They need the opposite. Look at Doug. He got so comfortable at BM over the years that he demanded $25 for skiing BB this Thanksgiving!
  14. They sure took a lot of beating while shooting the video
  15. Yeah, I've seen many references to you ping ponging Lazy, and you admitted it yourself not too long ago. I remember. But you seem to be an exception from the rest of people here, who prefer charging on their long and fat skis down Challenge.
  16. Oh boy. A new season pass dilemma coming. In my opinion glades are dangerous at Blue. JF's are way better: easier gradient, more snow. Get a Peak pass. This way you'll combine your VT/NY trips with nice and easy skiing at JF.
  17. Like you don't know that cold weather here never lasts... But I heard at least twice this fall a prediction for abnormally cold and snowy weather, and looky what we have today... Btw, here is an interesting quote from pugski.com. Never heard of this Almanac before.
  18. I'm wondering, why is Floyd so popular? Yeah it's the steepest run after the Elevator, but it's also soooo short, and then the level part of it is soooo long. You pass the steepness in a blink of an eye and then have to do cross-country. It's worse than the River Shot where you can generally get to the lift w/o pushing 'cause it's closer. And Floyd was in worse shape as well. They didn't fully groom it, so it was full of hard bumps and holes, all in the shade.
  19. Hold on. Socks for $250?? Holy cow! How are they compared to those chemical toe heaters that you stick to the bottom of your regular sock?
  20. Well, clearly the stream of people who can describe their food preferences and various misfortunes so vividly has run dry, and it's getting a little bit boring here. For me twice as boring because I was first getting a laugh reading your reports and then a kick out of the board's reaction.
  21. It was -3F outside and 3 people in the lodge at opening. I'm not kidding. Have never seen the mountain so empty. It's at 30% capacity even now, and I predict that it will stay like this until the very closing today. Snow is perfect. Fresh corduroy, no ice, got to lay my own tracks. Problem is, I have to run to the lodge every hour or so and deice. Need to buy the warmest gloves and do something about feet. They just go cold in boots all the time. Any suggestions? And I screwed up with wax again, but the coldest I have is CH4, so really couldn't do anything about it. Perhaps I should buy that powder additive and stick to universal waxes from now on. Got to be more flexible. Great day! Mountain is 100% open now, I just keep going up and down at my own pace never waiting for lifts, never bothered by others.
  22. There is no war with Russia. Ukranians can't figure out how to live in their own country.
  23. Not sure. Maybe 6 years ago. I started at MC in 97, then spent plenty of time at Shawnee and CB, finally expanded to JFBB and BM.
  24. And if you haven't seen this paper yet, here's something about the mountain you're in love with.
  25. Well, the report is certainly overdone. But salty, it does make me hate the guy who talked me out of buying a Value Pass at CB while it was still cheap.
