  1. thats all rather intimidating. i rmember i had a program for all this on my computer, but from a quick google search, this might help: http://www.natew.com/pages/software/snow/html.Reverse the sidecut radius and the pure carve radius and the actual radius all depend on how far you push the chamber. so many things are involved, it can make your head spin. lest we forget, shpaed skis are a borrowed development from the you know whos.
  2. Hey, I was really keen on racing last season, but never got around to the very oddly timed (for me) NASTAR events at Montage. I will make it my business to make those Sunday morning runnings this season, but are there any other regional racing opportunities for riders? -adrian
  3. im not sure if that would work on the dominant without drag. the baron, machine, and flag should be great.
  4. my custom x is analogous to the anthem (its what i got instead), and i have a fun soft ride like the agent. if, a big, big if, i was to get a new rome, it would definitely be the design. ive been eying it for a long time, and one day, i hope it finds me, haha!
  5. dont be scared off the dominant. its definitely a nice board that would be perfect for park and a little cruising but might run a little narrow for you without footprint reducing boots. depending on your stance and angles, you might be able to pull it out. again, compact boots will open up worlds for you. for bindings, i like burton cartels and the rome 390s for softer rides. looking at more all mountain boards that will still slay the park, it would be hard for the burton baron and the rome flag to disappoint.

    new boot

to follow up our boa comments, i have the burton rulers with the speedzone lacing system, and they are really something i have only heard good things about. they are amazing and uncomplicated, and i really like them. the burton ions and sabbaths are even better and also sport speedzone.
  7. this is true. atomic pressed them and put regular graphics on them. however, inside its got sheets and sheets of carbon, prototype additives in the ridiculously high molecular weight sintered base, an ultra redundant pre pregged glass matrix, choice wood (aluminum?), his personalized touch in feel and what have you, and whatever mistiness you skiers like. then people in the shop buy the model with those graphics because they thing bode rides it.
  8. you dont need freezing to make snow.
  9. i would suggest the burton boxer or the ride deuce. they allow your big foot to get on a narrower board without consequence. when sizing, remember that your toes should touch the end of the liner. if you take the liner out and you put your foot in, you should be able to put two fingers behind your heel and no more.
  10. i think the rome machine would be worth your time. try to size down on boots or get a boot with a small footprint.
  11. apparently the carbon was removed for patent reasons. weird.

    new boot

i hope you mean northwave, haha. the fact that they are in the drake family is disappointing, but at least they make decent boots. dc boots have serious durability and warranty issues, but some swear by them. the jury is out. thirtytwo is undeniably solid. stay away from boa! horrible! be prepared for endless breakage, and not much, if any time saved from lacing. boa was meant to stay on wake boards. a bad idea to transplant the technology.
  13. i definitely agree. the binding mold was really designed to have a little strip of carbon there, and it did add a little flash. whats worse is that it was too late to redesign the molds, and the empty spine is left there instead of a new design that didnt accentuate the missing strip. luckily, youd have to have seen the carbon highbacks for the production highbacks to look that naked. bah, all this talk about highback design, haha! they ride solid, period.
  14. I'm sorry if I misunderstand you because I'm not really sure what you said but: Burton and Rome have some nice models, but to decide which would suit you best, you would need to look more closely at your riding, your preferences, and your feet. Academy has always had good reviews. No K2 for me! They don't impress me at all. You might need a wide board to avoid toe drag issues not for powder float (this is a snowboard, not skis). Riding would be great, bro. Again, that's not enough information to help other than "get a Custom!" because you cant really go wrong with them.
  15. the strip of carbon was just that, a strip. virtually no loss at all. im sure production models ride just as exceptionally. rome has had production problems with reference stance marking, but maybe thats for another topic.
  16. im going to need you to tell me more. foot size? kind of freestyle? kind of freeride?
  17. I'd like to help, but can you elaborate?
  18. i rlike rome's quality at such a value price. i was close to getting an anthem last year, and if i did, id probably be riding targas this season too.

    snowboard demos

you can still get the best of both worlds. the criteria that you are looking for are typically opposites, but you are not out of luck. you need to find a damp board for that stability that you desire, and at the same time, you can size to fit your needs. companies that typically produce damp boards are neversummer and even prior. Unity's sintered sidewall construction may also provide what you need. If you want to look into other brands, go for a stiffer model. One interesting upcomer for this season is the ride dfc dh with slimwall dampening.

    new boot

the most important thing about boots is personal fit. you cant really go to the shop and have your mind set on a certain boot. you need to size and fit yourself to find that perfect match. its also a great idea to use superfeet insoles. your feet will love you.
  23. sidewalls come in great in the long run. not only are they far more durable, but when they are damaged, they are far easier and sometimes even cheaper to repair than caps. cap construction is cheaper, and that should be the only reason to ride that anymore in this day and age.

    Boots

you could heat mold with toe caps or get the liner shaven a bit. your shop shouldnt even charge. EDIT: when heat molding with toe caps, remember to run them inside your socks.
