  1. mark has the complete opposite personality as me and starts a conversation with everyone he meets...everytime we are on the lift he'll ask people where they are from and if they respond "New Jersey" he says "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."  half the people find it funny, but half the people seem legit offended lol

That is hilarious. I grew up in NJ. Wouldn't move back if you paid me.
  2. The squirrels are getting some of our sunflowers. They must climb up and take the whole flower. I'm finding half eaten ones all over the yard! Little f@ckers. The yellow finches are all over them too, but they don't destroy the flowers, just eat the seeds.

  3. Overall view of the garden from just inside the gate:

8 foot bed of cucumbers, hoping they do really well this year so that I can make some pickles.

Some hot peppers and some mild jalapenos:

Two rows of bell peppers, and you can see the end of the row of bush beans there on the left:

The zucchini plant is doing very well. It's one of the only things that has produced so far, gave me the four zukes here:

Tomato plants are also really putting on growth. Lots of green tomatoes, but only about a half dozen cherries ripe so far. Two year old got them all, lol:

A shot of the back end of the garden. Added the rockbox this year for my buddy to play in while I am weeding or otherwise working. A bench to rest on and watch him play. There's a couple rows of mammoth sunflowers back there in various stages of growth, and that low lying green mess on the left side is a watermelon plant:

Got going so late this year I haven't bothered with re-laying out the drip irrigation system. I guess I should, especially since I'm going away for a week in August and if it doesn't rain I'll come back to a bad scene.

You should be ok going away since all your plant are pretty well established. We are definitely getting drip tape next year. We were going to get this past spring, but ran out of cash after ski season and Arizona. We have a well, and I always worry about it when it gets this dry.
  4. I got everything in very late this year. Just picked my first cucumbers of the year, got about a half dozen of them. There are a handful of jalapenos ready, and a couple of sweet bannana peppers too. Everything seems to be growing well, sunflowers are ranging from seedlings (went in last week to fill bare spots) to 2.5-3 ft high. Zucchini is big and bushy, with a few small fruits. Some green tomatoes. Everything else growing well but no fruits yet.

I think I finally got ahead of the constant weeding. Maybe I'll grab a few pics tonight.

We haven't had much rain here. I know it's been spotty, always seems to skip around us. We have had beets, carrots, basil, cilantro. Our tomatoes and peppers a little behind. Started them late because we were in Az. I like to grow zinnias, too. They are finally starting to bloom.

You guys all sound like a bunch of hippies. I never understood spending so much time and money buying seeds and weeding and digging dirt just for something that you can buy in the supermarket.

We are a bunch of hippies. Is that okay?

nice, my beets suck this year - got em in late and missed all the rain to get em to pop. i like the tops better than the bottoms

Yes, we have come to appreciate the tops in a salad. They have to be young

  5. If you use a driving application then you have to use your iPhone while driving and you could get pulled over. I actually got pulled over for using a mobile device last year in jersey on 78. The only reason I got out of a ticket is cause I'm a skier...prob would have paid a $400 fine if I was a knuckledragger.

. If you're using GPS on your phone and you're using the on with the voice on they can still give you a ticket?
  6. Do you like rides?? Did your kids ever bug you to go?? It's pretty expensive essentially what a ski trip out west would be but instead of spending $100 per day on lift tickets it's about that much for park admission. Everything is immaculate from the buildings to landscaping to the employees demeaner. Prob exactly the opposite of a camping trip.

The Magic Kingdom is pretty cool. There's Tomorrowland which is like what people in the 50s thought the future would be like and lots of rides based on Disney movies. Epcot is a combination of science and then they have the world showcase and MGM studios is pretty cool. Also typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach are their water parks and they have an animal park which they didn't have when I was a kid.

My son would always say he was the only kid in his class that hadn't been to Disney! I guess we were just crappy parents. His senior high school trip was to Disney, he never went back. I'm just not into crowds. Rides are ok. I can't stand anything that goes around in circles.... makes me want to puke.

  7. I wouldn't mind having a small windmill in my yard for own personal use. When we were in Arizona, lots of houses in the middle of nowhere AKA desert had small windmills and solar panels. Lots of people living off the grid. Didn't Blue look into putting windmills in couple years ago? Shot down due to hawk migration?

  8. Had a great weekend in Moab. Riding home in the van now. 2 rappels; second one was super scary. After 20 feet you lose the wall and floated in space for the last 175'. Don't have too many pics, one girl in the group has a great camera and got some good shots I will post when she sends them to me. 974195e1e5ec36795c2411df4c6710d1.jpgbf8fcc0f35fc8f576372e79ba374b04d.jpg

Nice. You are much braver than I. I have actually have a fear of heights. Don't get me on a ladder or near the window of a tall building. I'm ok on ski lifts, not sure why. Unless the lift stops, and we are up high. I've wanted to curl up on the floor couple times on the gondola at Killington when it stopping
