  1. They prolly want you to wear a ticket since having someone on their mountain is a liability, and the "lift ticket" is insurance if your wearing it, hell if they print the date it would be a good piece to add the collectors box haha, skiing by oct 31st on the east coast.
  2. Just copy boulders plaza, its already been said. I'll spend at least 30-45 mins there every time I go to boulder haha, its a simple concept and whoever said to put it where the learning center is correct. Move the learning center to the new bunny slope under the triple lift. Have it double terrace instead of one wide setup and you'll have no space issues. for the hike park have it one wide ass rail garden with a single, flat and kink rail, 25 foot box, flat down box, butter box. and throw a weird object in there to bonk on making it 7 items total would be heaven, and would keep the newbz outta the other parks for learning to "grind" in turn keeping the landings on black bear and cascade in better condition overall allowing the park crew to work even less (haha jk).
  3. agreed i thought the park was hella sweet last night, pretty much everything was well groomed, no large g-outs on the landings of anything. I havent been to burrr in a while, but the step up box thing was cool, woulda been cooler if the box was a little shorter, and the initial jump was a little bigger (gaping the entire box anyone? haha) i guess thats a liability waiting to happen tho. I love how there would be like the one park crew guy and then some little rippers, prolly like 10 or 12 chillen with him, haha. they prolly would do more work than some of the lazier crew and prolly can ride better too haha.
  4. SkierX sounds fun haha, whats a typical course set up like? step downs with somewhat mandatory gaps, or big rollers you can gap for speed? High banked turns or lame flat 'uns? I missed bear's SkierX last year this would be fun to go to.
  5. Yea i heard about Sno, but blue too? damnnn haha, i remember talking with alot of the racers this weekend about that, and like just picking out lines in the woods under the green chair. Its DEFINATELY possible to make something sick there, they could have some plattekill-esk lines with off camber steep and loose stuff it looks like, but also they could manicure the land a little and put in some fast, solid rock runs like diablo. do it blue
  6. Did anyone happen to catch the helicopter taking off from the base? Yea that was from the BikerX... Guy went down in the large roller section before the table and came down way front heavy and musta done something to his neck or collarbone. He was down and out for a little while and then ski patrol (like 15 of them) got him conscious, neck braced, and carted down the hill. If I knew who he was i would send out a wish for a speedy recovery but until i do, Hopefully he recovers speedily. Other than that, The bikerX course was ALOT more predictable (and FUNNN) to ride on than i thought. Unfortunately i thought it was double elimination format (best finish of two races gets you ahead) but it was only single elim... so i just cruised the first and only run of the course and got elimated in my first heat haha, either way it was cool, im not a 4x racer, and i'll know how to ride it next year since they don't let you do practice runs. Other than that, i basically got an all day pass ($50 i believe) for $20 hahah the race entry was only $20 and you got a lift ticket, which as fate would have it, the lift that we were using broke down hahaha. So i sessioned the lower park, and the upper come around park till about 3 and was pretty impressed by the quality of the park now. Ripped up challenge a few times and was content with my $20 day of biking and skiing at blue haha.
  7. Yea from what i saw tonight the jump looks just as big as last years final big jump in the tubing park line (maybe bigger?) Conditions were sick tonight tho - just got my off-peak pass too haha stokage. It was my first time park riding since bears opening day and what an improvement they've made. i sessioned the flat down rail, drop rail, high rail w/ steep landing, and then the up rail with the jump at the end - line - a few times and the lips and landings were all sweeet and not icy for the night session. keep it up burrr.
  8. ^Did they have it last year? from what i was reading on a biking forum they said it was called off from lack of snow or did they move it back? haha heres a good quote from what i read on a biking forum, "Folks have been helicoptered out with broken necks, so it's pretty good." (some obvious sarcasm lol) The chance of getting hurt is immanent tho, and if you've ever been to a DH race during the normal season, people get carted off as well quite a few of my friends included through the years, oh yea... myself included as well haha. I think this race is a little bit different however as it's not advertised as a "DH MTB race" or "mountaincross" as it would be for a normal season race, so you definately get more "Average joes" (not knocking them) and that combined with a multiple competitor format race can lead to some injuries that the less skilled/seasoned racers suffer much easier unfortunately. It seems more casually approached - maybe because of the snow/being on a ski mtn, maybe the advertising, but in reality it's just as dangerous as any 4X/DH race out there.
  9. Yea i guess not warm per say, just not frozen crust with dust. I'm not going to be running spikes or anything crazy like that so something softer would benefit me. I'm used to the soft snow with bicycles and dirtbike events and yea it can get outta control rather instantly haha. I'll be sportin the full face at the minimum.
  10. Does anyone know if they're including in a skiing lift ticket with the lift ticket for the bikercross event this weekend? If so it may just determine where I ski haha. Anyone else here going to sign up for the bikerX this weekend? I hate to say it but for once i wish it will be warm - better snow conditions for biking lol.

    Gloves

Not really a big snow brand, but has anyone tried the heavier 661 gloves? I can get em for supa cheap from biking ties, but never really thought about it. I did however buy their "park and pipe" thin glove and it runs a size smaller than normal, but still fits and is plenty warm provided you dont fall in slush or enjoy being overly toasty.
  12. Yea true. Theres the Stowe stop I was thinking which is right by the mountain from what it sounded. Theres always shuttle services too. I'm just looking into it cause i can pretty much go for free, anywhere, anytime so it would be cost effective even if it was 3 hrs longer one way - Esp. if i had someone to go halfsies with on a hotel room. I don't really ski alone either cause i can always just call someone up for a bike ride so I'm kinda screwed in that sense of taking advantage of it.
  13. Just wondering if anyone in the Philly, PA area ever travels by train to VT? I looked up some tickets and I geuss they aren't the cheapest or fastest but I got a pretty good deal with amtrak until I'm done college that I'd like to take advantage of. The travel time to Stowe is like 2.5 hr's longer according to mapquest but is that a bad thing when i can sleep the whole way? Just wondering if anyone does cause unfortunately none of my friends will make a trip like this unless its bike related and i'm not blessed with many if any snow crazy friends haha. It'd be cool for one day trips in my case
  14. The step down box would be pretty cool if it was like ............................__ --- ...................__ ---........| ..........__ ---.................|--- __ __ ---.....................................--- __ ......................................................--- __ ..................................
  15. Obviously you've never been to Shalom Mtn...
  16. ^ Yea had alot of grass coming through opening night. Either way its a cool ledge, definatly has a different feel from the rest, besides feeling "sticky" it just feels plain solid.
  17. Haha i had to laugh at this. They should blow snow into the "glades" that usually form and put rails in there. Or something like that
  18. Haha thats what I was doing yestarday. Being it's my first season on rails - my (lack of) rail skills is starting to catch up with me. I had some... "spectacular" crashes shall we say. Luckily my years of ninja biking training helps in not getting hurt (too much) where other people would have probably died or broken something. I was the skier in orange pants and brown vest if anyone caught any of my explosive falls haha they prolly looked pretty funny or painful. But o well I'll be up there again sunday night - hopefully using my falls as a learning point towards progression, since "newschool" skiers seem to not want to lend a helping hand to one another . lol
  19. Try and get the new instructer Phil - He just moved here from roundtop.
  20. Nice to see the handrail i can finally practice one now thats now 40ft long and steep down haha (boulder). Hopefully the stairs get setup, i just think that would be fun to hit for some reason...
  21. ^ sweet do they have the stairset built up with snow? I'll be there with orange pants, 70's down vest and twins, and an urchin friend.
  22. sweeeet! perfect timing i get off work at 2.

    Gloves

Yea i think i got the same pair, same story - took the inner liners out, gave them to a friend when he forgot his gloves and never put them back in. Have served well even fro the coldest/windiest days out in CO. Awsome gloves.
  24. locked in for a sunday pm session with a mixed gang of skies and urchins.
  25. I hope so I dont wanna only hit up blue this weekend haha. we got a decent covering here in north wales (NW of philly) and it hasn't stopped yet. ::If bear opened friday - What would the hours be like?::
