  1. She said she was in one area between NBC and First Creek that was neck deep. Of course, she's only 5'3".
  2. Siblet took this today. Her friend launched, did a 360 in the air, but the camera lagged and only took the pic after he'd landed. She had hardly any battery left, so gave up. Boo!
  3. This is my eleventh season...what, are you keeping track for me? Creepy. This is not the best, but probably the second best. On the other hand, I can ski the deep stuff way better now, so maybe it is the best. East Rim Face yesterday:
  4. Because I've skied five days straight and staggered into the locker room yesterday barely able to walk. Dumped all day, no one there. Siblet had crotch deep and higher conditions in untracked areas like Area 51 and First Creek, I had knee deep in places normal mortals go. Part of me wanted to go, the other part of me said my body needs a recovery day.. Or two. Good sense won. Yesterday was supposed to be a short day and I got back a half hour after the last lift closed.
  5. Taking off today, but..
  6. The energetic earn their turns for another couple months. There's a place south of us that usually stays open another week, but every time I go there I say why did I do this..
  7. I'd skip next year, under my "alternating year theory". Wonderful year here this year, so clearly won't be as good next year. Currently 129 inch base. More expected tonight. I wish we didn't have this grizzly issue. BUT, that being said, there is no one here this week, so I can see why the grizzlies offer a convenient excuse to close. If the only people on the hill are passholders brown bagging it, how do you pay salaries?
  8. More snow today, too.
  9. That's later than here. Of course, I'm not expecting base damage when I ski the last day here.
  10. Winter is back! Yay!
  11. None. We have good bars. Bierstube, Hellroaring Chalet, have great decks. Patio in front of the base lodge. There's a drinking "route" to town, ending at the Northern.
  12. And back to winter yesterday. Got 7 inches in the last 24 hours.
  13. Spring time at Whitefish:
  14. Spring powder:
  15. Fiberlene. Leaves a thinner coat on the ski to cool, then rewarm and scrape. Then, rotobrush.
  16. Bernie!! He and his daughter skied with Siblet and I on occasion. He'd ski down with a cup of coffee and a hoagie, taking a bite as he hit little jumps.
  17. I've never seen the point of catch and release. Or making a huge mess in the kitchen, either. But making all those fancy casts looks like fun.
  18. A mere 320 miles from here..
  19. Atrocious music. Meanwhile I'm sick. Must drag myself out tomorrow. :'(
  20. Jeff, I spent from 1987 to 2003 skiing Camelback. From 8 to 2 or so, both days every weekend. 5000 would have been a light day.
  21. Let me get this straight... You skied 2.5 hours? Makes me feel a lot better about only skiing 3 runs today with a sore throat and a fever.
  22. Same as any normal day in the single digits. Main issue was wind today. Unrelenting. Things were either scoured or waves of fluff. Nice skiing, but brutal chair ride. Chair one time slammed into some kind of guide as it approached the terminal just after I had raised the bar. Thank goodness that chair has a center armrest as I needed to grab it way quick to avoid being tossed off. The walk from my car to the lodge should have warned me. I could hardly walk, was sort of stumbling around like I was drunk.
  23. No lines today. -4F with 25 MPH sustained winds. On chair two. Can't imagine what the summit was like. (not open)
  24. Lesson day. And end of day view of North Bowl:
