Just ordered a new goggle lens to replace one that got beat to shit in Whistler.
-
Why not? Off mountain ammenities at BC are a lot better than Elk.
-
Don't forget heli access to the back bowls.
-
Any news on changes or new features for the 2011-2012 season? I haven't heard about much but the BC Ironworks facebook page has a couple posts about a new rail design and barrel bonks.

To be fair, oil companies make very little (relatively speaking) from gas that consumers buy.
-
Gas will go back down just like it does every year. Then next spring when it goes back up everyone will act all surprised again.

You just described every business in the world.

The hiking won't be a problem. The group of guys I ride with are all in really good shape and we have all done our fair share of hiking. We are usually the guys in the front of the group waiting on other people. Elevation might be an issue but I think if we do a day or two at Telluride first and then head over to Silverton we should be acclimated by then. Helis are definitely on the list. We got grounded by weather in Whistler this season so I really wanna get it in next season. Is Crested Butte close enough to Telluride to just do a day trip and then head back after riding?
-
Anyone ride there before? Just starting to look for places to go next season...probably late Feb / early March. Was thinking about 2-3 days at Silverton followed by 4-5 days or so at Telluride or somewhere else close by. That time of year Silverton is guided skiing only...is that worth it or would it be more fun to go there at a different time of year for some unguided riding. They also seem to have some pretty reasonably priced heli packages. Anyone done those?

Didn't really notice a difference in the numbers of people from previous seasons. I know a few days they had to turn people away. I did however notice that there were definitely more people this season at The Grille than the last couple of years. Most nights the bar area was packed. Also noticed that it was harder to get hotel rooms up there. The 4 times I tried to book one of the loft rooms they were all booked. Never had that problem until this season.

Get the fuck out of here with this "ski code responsible people" crap. There are signs up at the top of both parks explaining the rules of the park and yet routinely "old school skiers, adult skiers, ski instructors, racers, and other regular ski kids" IGNORE them and drop into the park runs, cut people off, sit on jumps, sit on landings and basically create unsafe conditions for everyone.

None of what you said proves my point to be wrong. $32,000 for a season is not a lot of money. They probably clear 5 times that on weekend in January. Saying the average race team family spends nearly $3000 a season doesn't help your point. That works out to $750 per person for the season assuming an average family size of 4. That isn't a lot of money. Bottom line is BC won't be hurting financially from this decision. Does it suck that they cancelled the program? Sure. Is it the end of the world? No. It seems they are are still offering some kind of program and next season is still very far away. Who knows they might change their minds.

I would love to see some some data / numbers to back that up. Espically considering the race team is also an expense to the mountain. Mountains make the most money on occasionaly vistors...not regulars. The family of 4 that comes up for the weekend. They stay at the hotel, eat at the grill, buy 4 weekend lift tickets, rentals, lessons, etc... BC most likely makes more money on that family in a weekend than they make on most racers in a season.
-
As a business man do you really think the race team is BC's core customer base? Most people that go to BC probably don't even know that they had a race team. Bottom line it mostly likely came down to a financial decision, like most things in business, and in the end it was cut.
-
"I got the impression that the team had been misbehaving and drawing complaints from other customers, which I used to see a lot of at Camelback and on and off, a bit here. " More than a few times last year I saw them just bomb through the park with complete disregard for any park etiquette. But then again ski/snowboard instructors do the same with lessons so I doubt that played to much of a role in the decision.

Might treck up to Killington again this weekend. Trying to plan a June or July trip to South America.

4/1 - 4/3 Who is still open, and ticket cost Thread..

Killington has tons of terrain still open. I think they just dropped pass prices to $68 or something. -
You don't want the balls of your feet centered on the board at all...you won't be able to toe side turn properly and the heel drag will suck. You want your boots centered, or as close to centered as possible. It sounds more like you want to adjust the forward lean of your highbacks.

Remember when BC was Doe? I'll take the BC that is run by "corporate money whores" any day.

One more shot before I head out. I think this one was at the bottom of a tree run, dropping a fun roller into a nice open meadow. and a shot of the cat...
-
Whistler was insane. 5+ feet of snow while we were there. Locals said it was probably the best week of the season by far. Cat riding was probably the most insane riding day of my life. Ball deep untracked steep powder every where. Heli was grounded due to weather so we took another cat day. Tons of pics and video to sort through I'll post some when I get some time and some rest. Here is a shot from the first cat day. This was the top of a sick tree run that ended with a nice 4 pillow drop line before running out to cat road.

Nice to see BC still blowing snow. Hopefully the will be open for a bit when I get back from Whistler.
-
Great session yesterday morning. Soft fast snow and a super fun setup. Hopefully BC will stay open till the end of the month. I'd really like to get a few more trips up when I get back from Whistler.
-
Yesterday was awesome. Nice soft hero snow. Jump line and hitching post hit were super fun. Box-table-box was kicked to the right a little bit but the rest of the rails were really smooth. Tubing jumps were in really great shape.

The c-box isn't setup.
