Not rich but I do pretty well for myself. At least two of those trips will be paid for by my company since I have to travel to those places for work anyway. I'll just extend the trips and do some riding.
Been riding it for 3+ years now. It is a pretty noticable difference from regular plate mounted bindings. More padding underfoot, more consistant flex pattern on the board, better overall feel, and many more stance options..
Trying for 100+ days again this season. Whistler, Silverton, Jackson, Switzerland, and possibly a trip to South America in a couple of weeks are all in the process of being planned.
Makes sense that they closed with the weather forecast for this week and weekend. No one would have shown up during the week and the snow would have been crap this weekend. Sucks that the season is over for them but it was a smart decision.
Plenty of tricks can be done on it. Its a harder feature that not a lot of people do hit. But the people that do hit it can pretty much do whatever on it.
I'm glad BC is putting in harder things like this.
I'd be more worried about the 50 degree weather coming up this weekend. Once we get that first warm weekend people stop going to the mountains. Once people stop going its only a matter of days before the mountains close no matter how much snow they have.
Blue had the same problems Bear Creek had with their pipe. 1 wall was completely sun exposed for most of the day which almost always leads to that wall being rutted and over vert. And the trails both pipes were one really weren't steep enough.
The other issue is that half pipes really need to be blocked off and access controlled by park passes or something similar. This was a huge problem at BC for their pipe and not only caused their pipe to suck but was super dangerous.
The plastic sheeting on the wall ride is messed up, thats why it wasn't been out.
The new setup is cool and a lot of fun. I think with just a few little tweaks it could be really awesome.
I'm not a fan of Ride bindings at all. Tons of quality issues with them.
There are no downsides, you will find MUCH better deals online then you will at local shops. If you wait till around mid march you will find a ton of killer blow out deals. Only thing I wouldn't buy online is boots, unless you get fitted at a local shop first.
Blues biggest problem with their park (now that the stupid no invert rule is gone and they have moved away from trying to make the parks a circus) is consistency and progression. Their parks lack both and have for a long time.
No it isn't a cop out at all for people who know about snowboarding. It shows board and body control as well as style. It shows mastery of the basics. It should be one of the biggest and most stylish tricks in the run. Take Vito's run as a perfect example of why they should have straight airs in runs. He nails that straight air and he scores much higher.
And I guess you missed all the snowboarders throwing spins as setup tricks in their runs during the x-games.
