  1. Are you talking about the: "We got the Runs" billboard? Who the came up with that?????
  2. Go to the Gallery and take a look. The tree is looking a little weak since the ice storm and needs some additions to it, but there is product up there.
  3. It was there yesterday and a photo posted on this site to prove it. Unless they did something to it like this morning but I doubt it.
  4. So he has to get a new Bear Creek pass too? because they proll kept the BC pass for evidence. That sucks for him and if he was a student he could have just saved himself the hassle for only $199. and not have to worry. Its going to cost way more in lawyers and attorneys fees for defense, plus fines, possible jail time and probation for stealing. Not worth taking a chance.
  5. Photo of undergarment tree posted today. I might try for a beter photo later in the season with hopefully some new additions to the tree. *hint-hint*
  6. Just remember if you go out of bounds and leave ski area boundaries you are back country skiing/boarding and on your own if you get lost or hurt. Just don't end up like those dudes at Killington last month that spent the night lost in the woods. But I hear there is a trail from the top of CB that heads down to the Loft. You'll have to hitch a ride back or have someone pick you up.
  7. This topo map is interesting. I think it was last updated prior to Nile Mile. http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=18&n=454...315&datum=nad83 The wide trail must be raceway and to the right is Bactrain. Toward the bottom of Bactrain you see a black dot in the area of that white building in the woods today, possibly the old ski lodge.
  8. After I reading the post last night I kept looking off the side of Nile Mile for signs of an old ski area. No old lift posts were found as per one of the previous posts. But, there is an old lodge visible from the Nile Mile and even from the top of Cliff. While going down Nile look toward the bottom toward the tubing park and you will see a white building. Someone told me that building used to be the old ski lodge and it was called Big Pocono Ski Area. I remember seeing some old photos and stuff on the wall in the back of the cafeteria, next to old skis and stuff. I'll have to check that area of the cafeteria to see if there are any photos or history of the previous ski area up on the wall.
  9. Those school groups show up around 3:30 and stay till about 7:30 so anytime before or after that you should be good.
  10. I should be up at CB sometime over the weekend. Photos of the bra tree to follow.....
  11. When I was out in Telluride, Colorado they have a couple of smoke free bars and it was real nice. While in the smoke free bars your eyes don't burn (as a non-smoker) and when you get back to the hotel you don't smell like an ash tray. Its probably a little too cutting edge for around here but it would be really nice to have a smoke free bar. In Colorado the smoke free bars were busier than the smoking bars.
  12. There always seems to be a lot of complaints about CB on the message board. Maybe someone can post something positive about CB and offer some constructive criticism where they can improve on things they don't like. (just don't post any more ranger hate-enough of those threads below--lol) I'll add some of my stuff first: Terrain parks compared to most mountains in area CB's park is smaller and contains less stuff than most. It would be nice to have 3rd terrain park or bigger one. There are tons of beginners and others who should not be in the parks and it agitates the better riders & skiers. It happens at a lot of mountains not just CB, I was at Blue today and the lower terrain park was a zoo with tons of beginners in that park. Their more advanced terrain park still had beginners in there just not as many. Something needs to be done, but what? CB's half pipe is better than last year. I was told its angles and was widened slightly. Friends of mine who ride in there actually were complementing CB on a decent 1/2 pipe this year. Even though food in the lodge is expensive (most ski are food is) the lodge food at CB is pretty good. The daily specials are usually not bad. Just wish CB would have some lettuce, pickles, onions, and tomatoes to dress up my burger. If there is stuff there to fix your burger with where is it? I'll add some more stuff later just wanting to see where this thread leads first.
  13. Also since I live in Jersey you could go I-295 North (turns into I-95 South) hook up with Rt. 31 North to Rt. 46 W to I-80 W to Tannersville or NJ Turnpike to I-287 North to I-80 West to Tannersville. Believe it or not from my house the NJ Turnpike is 30 miles longer but 20 min faster compared to going up Rt. 31 because of speed restrictions, slow pokes and traffic lights. But once you are in the North Jersey traffic you could get messed up if its during rush. I would go up through PA if you could.
  14. From the CB Website and it seems to be pretty good and the way I would go up if I were coming from DE: From Washington & Baltimore: I-95 North to I-476 (NE Extension of the PA Turnpike) North, and follow the directions from Philadelphia. Approximately 4.5 hours travel time. From Philadelphia: I-476 (NE Extension of the PA Turnpike) North to Lehigh Valley Exit 56 (old exit 33), Route 22 East to Route 33 North to I-80 West to Exit 299 (old exit 45), Tannersville, and follow the signs. NEW Alternate Route (Avoiding 22 through Allentown): I-476 North to Lehigh Valley Exit 56 (old Exit 33), then Route 22 East to the first Exit (309 South). 309 South becomes I-78 East; proceed on I-78 East to Route 33 North to I-80 West to Exit 299 (old exit 45), Tannersville, and follow the signs.

The pipe is deeper, angled diffrent and a little wider. Its not that noticeable but I was told by someone the changes would make for better snow quality and riding. Very few complaints from friends on the 1/2 pipe this year compared to years past. People I ride with said the pipe this year has been in the best shape ever, compared to years past. So as far as the 1/2 pipe it is welcomed improvement.
  18. I use the Kryptonite C4 combination lock and I think it is one of the better ones out there. http://www.kryptonitelock.com/inetisscript...ts_item&pgrp=20 I have a lock by another manufacture but the cable could be cut with simple plyers. Ya need something strong so thats why I started using the Kryptonite. It may not stop all theifs but it is a deterant that will make your board less of a target so they go for someone elses that is not locked. My friends will spend $700 on snowboard stuff then don't buy a $14.00 lock. Makes no sense especially after being told about how many boards are stolen each year. $14. + 30 seconds to lock your board or $700 for new stuff? Ya should'nt have to but its worth carrying a lock.
  19. My friend had his board stolen at Mountain Creek and it was recovered at the Loft when the dumb asses tried to sell it. The serial number was tracked and the PA State Police arrested the guy. They kept his board for a week or so then they called him to come get it. So chill out let the cops do their job and you will get it back soon. Just be glad that CB secuity was on top of shit out there and was on the look out for the bad guys.

    Amazing

I was there all day yesterday and the snow quality was like a day out west. I think the trails were empty because it was so cold in the morning. It was not until after 2 when things warmed up enough to really to start and enjoy it. We were running Raceway a lot and some of the middle more forgoten trails like Oak Grove just make turns on fresh powder. Yesterday was one of the better days ever at Camelback with snow quality. Days like that only happen a few times each season but yesterday the snow seemed to be extra dry and light. Looks like a great weekend on tap too.
  21. Most of the training starts in summer or fall for some classes. So if your really up for it send me a message and I can get you in contact with people who run clases near you. It is similar to an EMT class. You will need an Outdoor Emergency Care class. You will join a patrol and be a candidate the 1st year, you will need take the local "on the hill" and ski or snowboard tobaggan test. After that you will be all set. http://www.nsp.org You will have to pay dues to join a patrol and at most mountains you will have to make an investment in a jacket, back pack/fanny pack, and initial first aid supplies. Dues $60, Jacket $225, back pack $85, black ski pants $125, first aid supplies $60., misc. stuff such as letherman and snowboard tool $50. Plus volunteering your time most mountains have a min requirement of days/nights per week. You will get to ride for fee while patroling and depending on the hill earn passes for friends/family. As for visiting aother mountains and getting hook ups, it all depends on that paticular mountain, some its a free ride and some offer nothing. The minimal hookups you get if your lucky you will break even. It would be a lot less headache to buy a season pass and lift tickets, but I like helping people and supporting the sport and that's why I patrol.
  22. I am sure the conditions are Champaign powder everywhere else in the whole area. High temps all week and 60F today? what the hell do you expect? Be glad they have as much open as they do and that they are open at all.
